So the bottom line is the use of force is a critical option when it comes to resolving issues. Ergo weapon readiness??

That sums it up accurately. It was wrested from Britain by force, expanded by stealing it from the Indians by force, kept "indivisible" by force, and it is by force that it resists implementing Democracy.

That is why I suggest that anyone applying for ownership of a weapon.......spend at least half a day in the ER to get an idea of what weapons do to a human body and life. It seems that many in the country are desensitized to violence now. Video ( violent) games don't help make one compassionate or caring. It is all about the kill and win. Primal aggression

Who has to apply for one? That's kind of a weird thing to say.

You forget that some people do not believe there is a right to own and use a gun -- that doing so is a privilege, to be granted by the state.

There were about 3.2 million firearms in Australia before the Port Arthur massacre. Now there are at least 3.6 million firearms in Australia.

How many grocery stores did this moron wrapped in an idiot pass to get to the grocery store that doesn't allow legal carry?

I avoid gun free zones for just that reason. Especially churches, since they seem to be the most common target.

Indeed. So it follows that force is a way of life where weapons play an integral role. Force with Pride. It truly is part of the country'''s DNA. Instilled and maintained from the beginning. Hard to reprogram the DNA........ ;-)

Depends on what you need to defend and from whom.

Yes, but gun ownership per capita has dropped by 23%, which means the people who still own guns have expanded their collections.

Georgia just made in a crime to give water to someone waiting in line to vote ...

... among other asssault on the possibility of people voting in Georgia.

So, they think there was election crime. BUT, their law doesn't match ANY possible election crime - unless the crime is that people Republicans hate actually get an equal shot at voting.

I do not see ANY possiblity of you finding an excuse shaped like that.

Please remember that the US citizens have HUGE numbers of guns compared to every other first world country.

So, what problem do WE have that is worse than every other first world country?

What problem to WE have that is worse than Yeman - the only country in the world that comes within a country mile of our weapons count?

I just don't believe America is so astoundingly horrible as to justify your ridiculous argument.

Really? Find that hard to believe. I know lots of farmers have guns 'cos I go out
shooting with them sometimes. But I don't know any urban folk who have guns.
Hunting is out of favor these days. Never heard of a single Aussie having a gun
for protection - unless you are a Bandito or Hell's Angels bikie.

And you're right, there is nothing horrible about America. On the other hand, the human race has some pretty sketchy individuals.

What’s fascinating about that is ownership rates fell as much between 1988 and 1996 as between 1996 and today. I’ll bet you don’t see that stat often. :)

Well, you probably aren’t aware of a lot of facts about guns in Australia. Seems odd, but I’m here to help.

To start, here’s numbers of licensed firearm owners by year in Australia. You will see ownership rates fell drastically before the Port Arthur massacre and subsequent NFA. So claiming the NFA reduced firearm ownership is not data based, but unsubstantiated opinion. There is no data to demonstrate causality of further drops in rates after the NFA because rates had been dropping precipitously before the NFA.
    upload_2021-3-26_19-0-54.png

Now, the numbers of current firearms I quoted are based on Australia’s supposedly highly effective registration requirements. So, are you claiming data based on those registrations is not valid? If it is inaccurate, can we trust any other data provided by the government on death rates, suicide rates, etc.?

I know a lot of women need firearms for protection in Australia. Sexual assault has increased 22% since 1995. Sexual assault rates in Australia are some of the highest in the world. I guess a small price to pay...

You might think differently when you're a frail woman sitting all alone in your house and some big burly guy comes breaking in through the window looking to have a little "fun" with you.

Out where I live, we have wind storms and sometimes the power goes out and the cell towers stop working and you can't make phone calls.

Sure, there's firearms and there's firearms. You can get a .22 rimfire, air gun or paintball gun if you have
a license. Imagine, just an air rifle requires a firearm - that seriously frustrates me.
Pump action shotguns and the like require special licenses again, and you have to have special reasons
    too.
Pistols will be a lot tougher - you have to belong to sporting associations for those.
AR15 styles weapons - forget it.

Without seeing the breakdown in figures I suspect there are a lot of people with air rifles and paintball
    guns.

That is why I suggest that anyone applying for ownership of a weapon....... be denied.
