This is exactly right. QI is broken and needs to be fixed so that it protects police officers when they act according to the law, and within their authority, but falls through when they don't. Police unions need to understand that bad cops are bad for everyone, especially police unions.

    No that is factually correct.

Most cops are good cops. The media and the very left makes it look like every cop is out to kill black people and is racist. When that is so far from the truth. Doing away with QI is going to make their job much harder then it needs to be.To the point where NYPD is going to lose good officers.

I read recently there is a 3 week waiting time for guys to even submit their retirement applications? So much for experience, huh?

Yes they should, we expect officers to deal with things no one else does so there should be different rules for them just like doctors etc.

Liberals once again proving what I’ve long known, they don’t have a ****ing clue about what it takes to keep them safe. Well let’s see how they like it when the cesspool of humanity has nobody holding it back.

So no problem with an officer shooting a ten year old kid while firing into a group of children in an attempt to kill a non-aggressive dog?

If LEOs can’t protect the citizenry without violating their rights then they’re not good officers and have no business holding power over anyone.

Yes, most cops are good cops. My grandfather was a cop in Chicago long before Earl Warren sat on the court. It's not like we can't exist without it because we existed without it already. In many regards it's made relations between police and citizens much worse.

Shitters always play the moral high card until your getting robbed at gun point. Then you will sing a different tune.

My favorite Bastiat quote is "When law and morality contradict each other, the citizen has the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense or losing his respect for the law."

That wisdom seems pertinent to this discussion of QI

Yeah, that tune will be filling out a police report 38 minutes later after they show up and then never hearing back from them. Real helpful. That’s not the gotcha that you think it is.

I’m not ignorant enough to believe that we don’t need cops or that they don’t serve a purpose. I also don’t pretend that they effectively stop crime as it’s being committed either though.

Right because the police never catch criminals and prevent future crime either.

How does that relate to the scenario you put forward?

I also didn’t speak in absolutes so I don’t know why you’re choosing to do so outside of an attempt to dishonestly characterize my statement.

If we go by his logic police could very well be preventing a billion crimes a year!

Dumbass how many criminals are repeat offenders or are arrested multiple times? When the cops catch someone or build a case that removes street walking scum from the street they are absolutely preventing future crime

Man alive, I wish we could do that in Washington DC. Street walking criminals inhabit the halls of government, committing all manner of present and future crimes. Repeat offenders galore!

I’ll thank you for refraining from future direct insults. Much appreciated.

Sounds like you must have some hard data on the topic. Care to enlighten us?

The number of people that end up back in jail within five years of being released is over 77 percent according to BJS. federal prisons are lower but still have a return rate of 45 percent.

Okay, so that perfectly illustrates the failings of our justice system.

Now explain how this results in a reduction of future crimes. I’d say if anything the justice system, including cops, perpetuate the existence of future crimes.

Every piece of **** that stays locked up is one less repeat offender out there victimizing other people.

Do you believe that the justice system should play a role in reforming criminals? If so do you agree that instances of recidivism mark a failure to uphold the obligation of the criminal justice system to society?

I'd have to know the circumstances.

Police are constantly called upon to make life and death decisions with incomplete information, they must always have the benefit of the doubt like firefighters and ER docs.

Different situation these days, the courts and media are crazy, in your grandfather's day they had a modicum of common sense.
