The Oxford mention in the OP is just another example among a long string of ridiculous racist attempts to demean, oppress and humiliate the white race...and its all being orchestrated by the political or democrat left here in America. :wall:

The way in which some people turn a blind eye on pure facts is utterly absurd. Since this went above some folks' heads, here it is again. No idea why this seems to be too complicated to understand.

The music faculty said claims that the university is considering removing sheet music from its curriculum are “completely incorrect.”
“No such proposal or suggestion has been made about sheet music or western musical notation,”
    the statement read.

Oxford University is not scrapping sheet music
CLAIM: The U.K.’s University of Oxford is considering removing sheet music from its music curriculum as part of sweeping changes intended to “decolonize” the program.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. There are no plans under consideration to remove sheet music or western musical notation from the music curriculum at Oxford University. The music faculty are planning to add new offerings to the curriculum to be announced in the coming months, a representative from the university said.

THE FACTS: Social media users this week are falsely claiming one of the oldest and highest-ranked universities in the world is ditching sheet music as part of an overhaul to combat racism and white supremacy.

I too have a liberal arts education. My career was in business. I don't view college as job training. I view it as learning discipline. Those who go through it learn better. That has been proven over and over for centuries. If a college degree helps get a good job that is great. If it doesn't then that is still great.

One guy doesn't take seriously the fact that the Left is using race as a sledgehammer against its political foes and you think I should lower myself to take you seriously? :roflol::roflol::roflol:

Anything but spending your days slouched naked on a sofa, not listening to music or reading a book, eating fast food, in your unkempt rented home, is racist.

Obviously clothes are racist. Private property is racist. Cleanliness is racist. Cooking from scratch using fresh ingredients is racist. Working hard and saving money are racist. Books are racist, and music is racist.

Anyone who doubts why this is being done, only has to consider the above. It's all for that permanent, powerless, impotent, and helpless underclass.

Funny story - but I don't think I've ever met a Progressive (and I've met far too many :( ) who had the slightest interest in non-Western music other than as an ocassional style note, a spice. They are almost always the MOST steeped in Western culture - including the Arts.

I just re read your OP. If I read it correctly the suggestion concerning the music you point out is not to cut it from the curriculum, only to make it non mandatory. It also suggests that other types of music, non European, be added. Which is the author upset by that classical music is no longer mandatory or that African and Asian music are being added? Why doesn't the author talk about U.S. universities who have done similar things?

Re-read it, I said some guy didn't take it serious, not that I haven't taken it seriously.

I'll see if I can get a hold of the author so as to tell him that this CRT and white bashing racism is much more prevalent here in America, and that his emphasis should be in exposing the U.S. leftist professors for their part in this crusade to demean whitey.

    Exactly my point.

I'd rather be involved in the stuff that goes on behind the playing of the spice music (the ordinary, day to day, family life of whichever culture is involved), than be someone who imagines themselves worldly because sometimes they get high and listen to sitar music (though having said that I was raised on Ravi Shankar, and my folks grew their own).

Of course, Progressives can only handle the 'entertainment' of other cultures, and then only in forms declared cool - given they're so unworldly. Watching them try to deal with real exoticness is hilarious.
