This is an interesting turn as people are really concerned about what is happening on our southern borders.

Biden’s DHS may resume border wall construction to fix ‘gaps’, report says

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security may restart construction on the U.S.-Mexico border wall to fill the “gaps” in the current barrier, according to comments made by DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, The Washington Times reported.

During a discussion with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Secretary Mayorkas told ICE employees that President Biden has left “room to make decisions” on filling in “gaps in the wall,” despite his day-one move to end the emergency declaration on the border and his decision to halt funding to former President Donald Trump’s border wall construction project.

Mayorkas said Customs and Border Protection has proposed a plan for the border wall moving forward, according to notes of the ICE meeting viewed by The Washington Times.

I haven't fact checked any of this yet but if true, it proves canceling the construction was a political stunt with ZERO basis in policy or whats good for America
Conclusion? TYPICAL!

 

I read that it is just filling in gaps with already allocated money and that the state of emergency and the use of military funds is still over. Biden knew the current situation couldn’t last without causing him and his party big issues very soon. Its all about erasing Trump and as soon as he lets in as many illegals as he thinks would have gotten in had Trump policies not been there or if Hillary had been president, he will take some control measures.

 

I don't think Biden's voters expected to get "build the wall!"

 

I fully support Bidens wall.

 

I suspect Dems will be chanting "Build the wall!" at his next rally.

 

If it was a stunt, why go back on it?

Biden is pretty clear that his policy is far from an "open borders" one. It's clear in his messaging, it's clear from his policies and it's clear from actions his administration is taking.

 

You're projecting. Democrats don't behave like a mindless mob following Dear Leader.

 

Ironic, considering I'm not a Republican nor do I vote. I just recognize the hypocrisy of both sides.

BTW, I'm for open borders...so much so I don't believe borders should exist.

That's an odd thing for a non-Republican to say, then, since it's obviously false. Democrats are not xenophobic bigots, so why would they chant for a border wall? Again, they don't follow Dear Leader the way RINOs have been doing for years.

We might agree about borders. Nationalism is proving more a negative than a positive in this day and age. Might be time to break that down a bit and bring humanity as a whole closer together.

 

Well, I'll still say that it's a waste of money to build a wall and expect it to stop illegal immigration or drug traffic. At least Biden is explicit about using more than a physical barrier to deal with these issues.

I understand all of this. But to those folks south of the Border Biden's campaign against the wall and Trump's illegal immigration policies let them know in their own eyes, their perspective that the welcoming mat was now in place.

Most folks south of the border don't understand the nuances of our political campaigns where one usually takes the exact opposite of the other candidate. You can throw in sanctuary cities and now states as part of that welcoming mat for illegals. At least that is how they see it.

It's not what Biden's official policies are, it is how they're perceived south of the border. Biden's election gave them the green light to come here or that is how they perceived it.

Perception may be totally different than what actually is. Biden and company have a perception problem.

 

Eh it's easy. Since one of the tenets of progressivism is, "it's different when we do it' most don't even recognize the hypocrisy.

 

Bear in mind that a lot of people coming to the border are fleeing deadly situations in their home countries. They come here desperate for a better life. That is not some kind of evil we need to fight. These are people seeking asylum in order to live, work and be a part of America. If they were white, Republicans would be just fine with it.

 

Biden wants to do a comprehensive immigration bill.
This may be a chip he wants to be able to play.
