I agree that Biden probably didn't need a turnover to make his border wall decision. Good point. That said, perhaps an arguement can be made that he could have been more on top of it. Fairly subjective but again, an arguement could be made.

I disagree, generally speaking, that the turnover was fine (implied, not literal). The turnover was a disgrace. Even if Trump suspected he had been cheated he still should have proceeded with a comprehensive turnover in the event he was wrong as it actually turned out by the way. Maybe it is the prior military in me but command turnovers are to be taken seriously.

You do realize the context of this statement, right? "The wall" is Trump's failed promise of a wall across the entire border. Historically democrats have supported strategically placed sections of wall and have similarly funded them.

Yeah. This was covered already. Thank you though. (Not sarcasm).

I guess that makes the wall even more useless, never mind that in the news how scores were killed in an auto accident escapes reality.

..., said somebody who supported a guy who told them he was going to build a wall covering the whole two thousand miles of the US - Mexico border, and that Mexico would pay for it. Of which, BTW, he built... what... like...15 miles of new wall? Which cover about 400 miles only because they are, for the most part... isolated slabs, like the picture

Yeah! Nobody is getting around those!

.... Or... maybe they don't need to?

Oh, and BTW, Mexico didn't pay for it.

And yes, "lefty logic" is that expert advice is more useful on how and where to build a wall than ... the say-so of an orange idiot.

This is typical of the DNC. They are all for border security when they are in charge, but against it when the GOP has the helm. How much was spent on border security during the Obama Administration? Remember the hundreds of millions spent on a virtual wall that did not work? How much money did they spend on border fencing that could easily be scaled or dug under? The Obama Administration spent billions on border security, and then took steps to keep Trump from doing the same thing. Of course the DNC fail at it.

Now, here is Sleepy/Creepy Joe undoing everything President Trump accomplished. It did not take him long to figure out that he screwed the pooch on this one.

No. He just took it from the military.

And, in the end, threw it away. No wall.... and the risk to national security remains.

Do you understand that a wall covering the whole 2000 mile long boarder is not the same as limited fencing where experts think they will help?

Silly question. Of course you don't!

That would be idiotic of Biden if he built Trump's wall. Or even tried, because obviously it's not even possible for him to.

Wouldn't you say that the facts bear out that this is not demagoguery? President Trump's policies seriously reduced the amount of illegal traffic across the borders. Yet, as soon as President Biden announced that he would remove the Trump policies, the surge renewed with a vigor greater then in the past.

Another point that you seem to miss. President Trump never stated or intended that there be a wall spanning the entire length of the Mexican border. He only planned for 700 miles of fencing, and that is more the 1,200 miles of the total border. Those fences were set up to cover the areas that the experts (CBP) had stated that they were needed.

So, do I have this right? You support what President Trump was doing, and are against President Biden's initial efforts?

Worry not my friend, it's gonna be called Biden's wall. You gonna like it, and you gonna support it.

If he does, he's stupid! Not as stupid as Trump, but an idiot nontheless.

Fortunately... Biden doesn't disagree with me!

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said that while Biden made it a priority to cancel border wall construction, some areas may still be worked on to fill leftover "gaps" in the barrier,

So, since the actual new wall Trump actually completed was... I don't recall the exact number, but I think it was like 20 miles, he most definitely agrees with me

So it was just wishful thinking on your part. I'm not actually sorry that I burst your bubble, but I am curious: when will you guys ever learn?

If it is, you will hear it from me first (unless somebody beats me to it). So, stay tuned...

You see... on the left we don't have a cult. We'll through our politicians under the bus in a second, if they don't do their job. So if Biden messes up we'll be on his ass sooner than you can say "dump the filibuster".

Meanwhile Israel has had zero illegal immigration since the implementation of these:

Weird how a supposed super power has the most porous borders on the planet... almost like the elite monsters in charge planned it that way.

A wall is not going to protect national security. I don't even know what national security threat a wall is supposed to protect us from.

If experts coincide that there are places where a wall could help stop illegal immigration and human trafficking, then by all means... But trump's wall (as he proposed it) is not only useless... it would likely never get built even if we tried.

I can’t believe that Xoe would even think of building a wall. How racist can he get?

No, they didn't. Covid did. Trump's policies made the problem much worse. Illegal immigration started increasing since around mid-2020 as people started to lose fear of the pandemic.

Then you have rebutted the poster I responded to.

    What efforts?

I do not, in any way, support what Trump was doing. Not even a little.

I do support building barriers where experts say they are necessary using funds allocated for that purpose based on technical considerations. Most of those that were built under Trump were with funds appropriated during the Obama administration, based on expert advice. But building a wall just because it sounded good in campaign speeches, absolutely not!

If Biden were to continue Trump's policy on this, I would oppose it vehemently. That's why I ask what "efforts" you are talking about?

BTW, one fact YOU have missed is that, while illegal immigration is a problem, it's not even in our top 20 list of problems. That, besides the fact that the southern boarder is only a small portion of the illegal immigration problem.
