Here's a fun game to waste time with. Who can tell me the one thing that all of these people have in common?

(Mods, I'm putting it in this forum because many of these people are politicians, political journalists, and so forth, and the point I want to make is also political.)

    In no particular order:

    Terrence Mallick
    Bill Clinton
    Bobby Jindal
    Bill Bradley
    Kris Kristofferson
    Ronan Farrow
    Cory Booker
    Eric Garcetti
    Heather Wilson
    Pat Haden
    Pete Buttigieg
    Ashton Carter
    Jake Sullivan
    Susan Rice
    George Stephanopoulos

    No googling!

I know Buttigieg and Susan Rice and Stephanopoulos were Rhodes Scholars, so I'm guessing they all were.

Yes. I was surprised at a few of the names, like Bobby Jindal and Eric Garcetti.

I find it very interesting that out of these 15 fairly well-known names, 11 are/were liberals.

I know Clinton, Malllick, Kristopherson were also so yeah, they likely share an Oxford experience.

There is only one Rhodes Scholarship awarded per year. The criteria for being awarded a Rhodes goes beyond scholastic achievement and includes things like the energy and determination to make a difference, honor, courage, a willingness to help others, etc.

You have to be stellar in many ways. The criteria starts with high academic achievement but goes way beyond it.
