Name one thing you like about your opponents

In the spirit of trying to come together, I think we can start by naming one thing we like about our opponents. As I'm an Independent, I'll name one thing I like about both Dems/Republicans.

With Democrats: I do believe they genuinely believe in what they're saying, and I do believe they genuinely want what's best. That is their best asset.

With Republicans: I don't like the corporate part of the party, but I do like the financial savviness of the Republicans and generally they are always well trusted with the economy for a reason.

 

I cannot say I much like either of the main stream planks of either party beyond agreeing with the GOP that the borders need some serious control mechanisms put in place. I suppose in theory I used to agree with the dems on gay rights generally until they drove the train off the tracks, through the barn and into the swamp with trans-nazi stuff.

 

There is a lot I can't stand about both parties. But there are some outlooks I like.

For the Republicans, I like that they are generally pro military and pro second amendment.
For Democrats, I like that they are more likely to care about environmental and ecological issues.

 

Leftists make better coffee. Rightists make better houses.

 

I am an Independent.

I have an abiding respect for and loyalty to rank and file Americans, both Republican and Democrat. For me, there is an important distinction I make between the rank and file people, and the political operatives of their respective parties.

After giving it some thought, I cannot think of anything I like about the political operatives of the Democrats, their message, and their goals.

I have my numerous complaints about the political Republican beltway crew as well, but a few things I agree with them on are:

- Not obsessively trying to divide our country by race, gender, etc
- Traditional patriotism, as shown by respect for the flag and anthem

 

Republicans tend to have the best toys, 4 wheelers, boats, firearms, a back 40 to host a killer bonfire.

 

Marxist/ Globalists always seem to show they believe the end justifies the means. I do not like them.

America First thinkers respect the Individual Rights this Nation was founded on and I do like that!

 

That they're also human beings.

 

They make cool sounding national anthems

 

As an Independent both major political parties are my opponents and yes, both have good and bad aspects but the OP is focused on the good.

Democrats for finally growing a pair and no longer trying to just be Q-GOP Lite.

The GENUINE moderate Conservatives on the right who voted AGAINST the biggest *LOSER*.

Putting We the People AHEAD of PARTISAN party loyalty gives me hope that there is still a chance for us to RESUME the PRAGMATIC politics of COMPROMISE.

 

I like asking that question once in a blue moon. As much as one hates the opposition, they can't be wrong on everything, all the time. But it is true, I am having a tough time in these very divisive times to find much (I have never had a problem with that before). Maybe part of the problem is that as much as Trump tried to paint AOC, Omar and Tlaib as the face of the democratic party, they aren't, and in fact the most mainstream of all the dem candidates for president was the one that got elected. On the republican side, Trump, Cruz, Graham, Gaetz, and Greene ARE the face that represent the seat of power of the republican party, and only Graham has ever been a reasonable person, and that's before he went all in on the crazy side.
I will weigh in with a serious answer if this thread picks up with any serious input.

 

There are a lot of liberals that I like personally. I don't like their political orientation. So what?

 

President Trump and his supporters pushed hard to get Covid vaccines developed.

 

AOC has movie/television star/model good looks.

 

Remeber "Mr. Ed?" You must mean those kind of looks.

 

So if some day they completely make you tow their line, will you like them personally?

 

I was thinking more when she keeps here mouth shut.

I hate throwing cold water on your attempt to at a kumbaya thread but you should check the record on Repub's stewardship of the economy and the budget. Savvy its not.

 

I think President Trump is a pathological liar who damaged America, but there is one of thing I love about him, Ivanka!

 

I am an Independent. I don't particularly like either party's hard sell of one being 'better' than the other.

I understand the Liberal position of environmental issues, but I do not like their idea of using government to invade private property.
I understand the Conservative position of fiscal responsibility, I just wish the Congressweasels practiced it.

Unfortunately, the more 'aggressive' liberals have taken to making racial makeup to a negative level. They are arguing over a physical attribute that people have no control over. Sorry, but I'm not responsible for how other people treated people long gone, I am responsible for how I treat people today.

I just want to point out that none of your replies I've read, thus far, fit with the spirit of this thread: you have only spoken well of those who are your compatriots, & only deprecatingly or negatively about those you would consider your, "opponents."

Though I would have preferred to have had AmericanNationalist, who began the thread, point this out to you, your input has been directly counter to the laudable intent of the thread, titled, "NAME ONE THING YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR OPPONENTS," namely

 

O.K. Def, I'll concede to your judgement. I repent. Every human being is a wonderful creation in the eyes of God with the potential of being Children of God through the sacrifice made in the person of Jesus Christ. That is a different side to what I really believe. Now I'll wait patiently as the mockers attack.
