    About the Capitol riot:

50% of Republicans believe the siege was largely a non-violent protest or was the handiwork of left-wing activists “trying to make Trump look bad”

60% of Republicans believe the false claim put out by Trump that November’s presidential election “was stolen” from him due to widespread voter fraud.

While 59% of all Americans say Trump bears some responsibility for the attack, only three in 10 Republicans agree.

    _______________________________

Above all, Trumpism is political propaganda that substitutes for reality.

The GOP's radicalization comes mostly from installing a distrust of the media/scientists/officials so that Trump can become the only credible source of information.

So the results of this poll don't surprise me.

The detoxification of the pro-Trump electorate will take a long time, but at least the majority of voters still have some connection to reality.

    Thoughts ?

Sounds like all republicans are crazy. Probably should force them to watch corporate media non stop for several decades until they are properly programed with democrat propaganda.

Why has the justice system never taken Trump's fraud charges seriously?

Are all the judges who dismissed Trump's complaints also part of a huge conspiracy?

Yeah, they are so much more de-programmed, independent thinkers watching Tucker and Hannity of Fox, or Newsmax and OANN. Only in their own minds.....

It is amazing how many Trump 2020 flags still fly out there. And then there are the "Biden sucks" kind of signs. I've never seen this vitriol that long after an election before. These people are conspiracy theorists and self-radicalized Trumpers that lap up the daily Fox News Trump propaganda. And they don't care to (figurativelty speaking) shout their wacko opinions from the rooftops (by still flying the Trump flag). If the events of 1/6 didn't stop this, nothing will.

Democrats purposely edit "real" videos of Biden to make it appear he is behind a green screen to generate conspiracy theories they claim to hate.

Democrats want conspiracy theories made about them.

Politics is ugly. It creates a lot of emotion and, in your case, a lot of hatred for the other side. The results of the poll don't surprise me either.

You quickly forgot how Hillary and her sycophants went on a rage after she lost the election. Hillary was on TV 24-7 explaining with 24 different reasons why she was cheated out of the election. Then there was the moron in Georgia who claimed she was the real governor after losing the election. Just the other day I saw a Hillary bumper sticker on a car.

Hillary's sycophants never rioted in the US Capital or lost 60 some odd court cases trying to overturn an election. If people are critical of the former they should also be critical of the latter.

So, are the Trumpsters right to believe in falsehoods?

They don't believe in falsehoods. They believe in opinions that differ from yours.

LOL! Most Hillary voters did not like Hillary. They voted for the lesser of two evils. They also put away their Hillary yard signs the day after the election . In contrast, most Trump voters ADORE Trump, a significant number still flying their large Trump flag or even f Biden flags. There is ZERO equivalency between the two cases, no matter how much you like to create one.

I like that I still see the Trump flags up. Tells me where the cultists are.

That the election wasn't rigged or that almost all of the Capitol rioters were Trumpsters isn't an opinion.

    These are facts.

In the world you live in, people who believe the Earth is flat just have a different opinion....

No they are opinions. Sorry. Calling opinions facts doesn't make them facts. Investigations could make them facts or not.

Many repubs are desperate. They understand people, specially young ones, are more and more leaning towards democratic ideas. The GOP, or what's left of it, no longer have any agenda besides obstructing the dems who are trying to move the country forward. Limiting voting rights seems to be their solution; they might be tempted to limit voting rights to people aged 75+.

The Trump cultists' agenda is to create chaos under the guise of the America First slogan and bring their Moron-in- Chief back to power.

There is therefore no proof that this opinion is true.

Because Trump never succeeded in proving that he had won.

That Biden won is a fact that has never been denied.

I'm sorry, but with all due respect BullSH*T too. Hillary conceded the NIGHT of the election and I NEVER heard her say she was cheated. A lot of her supporters did point out that she got 3 million more votes than Trump but SHE never said she was cheated at all. (though a lot of her supporters, including me, said just that, and loudly for quite a while)

Sounds like you got a problem with people who like Trump's policies and still respect how he supported the USA.

What happens when those opinions are proven wrong, time and again? What happens when proof shows up to dismantle those opinions? If you choose to continue to hold an opinion that has been proven false, isn't that a case of believing in a falsehood?

    Yes, it's called "reality"

Thing is, that to Trumpers THAT'S NOT A JOKE, at least it isn't a joke to Trump. Look at how he dealt with COVID. He honestly seemed to think he could just bullshit it out of existence. Textbook narcissism carried to a truly insane degree

I can't speak for the poster you responded to nut I sure as hell do.

Supporting Trump is anti every American value we were taught as children in the 60's. Sadly, 40% of the country just does not care or the are not smart enough to understand.

I don't think they surprise anyone. But they should frighten everyone. How else should we respond to seeing so many fellow Americans succumb to overt propaganda?
