I totally understand what you are saying. And yes..... This nation does need to do a lot more work on its domestic front..........if it is to be respected as a safe place to live. It is not only the weapons thing.....but it is time for the nation to grow up to the point where race is not even a factor. Some serious introspection seems to be called for. People t need to really understand why they have an issue with others with a different pigmentation. They need to understand why they feel they need weapons beyond the glib answers they give themselves.

Sadly each shooting just reinforces the cycle of weapons and violence.

and when cops mistake a gun for a taser..........and the result is fatal..........

In Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, A 20-year-old man was shot and killed by a police officer. The officer says it was a mistake. The man's parents say that it wasn't. The young man is gone and will never come back. That's what happens when you die. There are those that believe that it done on purpose.

There are shooters that are trigger happy and will shoot to kill at will. They don't care who they hurt of kill. There are trigger happy shooters that think that guns solve the problem. In some way they do and permanently. The truth is that guns don't solve problems and never will. There are too many sickly insane people that use the gun and shoot to kill to solve problems. The person that they kill is the problem and use a gun to kill to solve the problem. thinking the victim got what was deserved. That is very cold, dark, and evil when this happens. the trigger happy killer should be incarcerated forever and ever.

Ex-officer Kim Potter to be charged with second-degree manslaughter in Daunte Wright case

will see how this one plays out. But what is so unacceptable is now clear for all to see............(regardless of their own biases) Folks will need to get over their racist attitudes .........as otherwise it makes a mockery of the American myth of "equality for all ") When culture attitudes to race and weapons begin to change........ only then will the nation make any progress. The frontier attitudes that exists is now stunting the development of a fine nation.......but creating an image of a third world country that is in constant war with itself.

    It's both simple and complicated.

What do people do who are ridiculed and looked down upon? Become something better so they will be respected? Yes, maybe - if they can. If they are allowed to. There are two ways for people to "become something". Either rise above or push others down but if the possibilities are limited to improve then the only way for them to feel better about themselves is to magnify their position that is higher than the next guy. It's all linked. You are ridiculed and looked down upon by whom? Those who are better off, but their problem is the same as yours. They are mocking you because someone is mocking them. So, if everyone was white then you'd have to mock others for some other reason other than race. Racism is only the most obvious difference between you and "him" so that's easy. The problem in the US is not racism. Racism is only the consequence of a population that is suffering from a Capitalist society that starts from the top and doesn't leave enough for those down below. It's "dog eat dog" down there and the wealthy don't care. What's wrong with Capitalism? Nothing. What's wrong with American Capitalism? Plenty!

You should brush up on your history as every form of totalitarianism has required a disarmed citizenry in order to thrive.
It's the same sad story over and over again of fools thinking that they can trade freedoms for security and then they soon end up loosing both.

I lived, worked and studied in what was then W. Germany in the early 1970s and remember the frustration my elderly German landlady had with Americans and their almost hostile indifference toward the many freedoms they/we enjoy.
She had just finished reading about a poll of American High School students who thought that the 1st Amendment protected "too many freedoms."

She finally said something to the effect of: "You Americans are spoiled and do not appreciate the many freedoms you have and someday you will lose them like we did."

Over the decades, I've seen educated Americans push for government theft (aka "Civil Forfeiture Laws) in our "War on Drugs", unconstitutional search and seizure ( DUI checkpoints) courtesy of MADD mothers, "Hate Speech" erosions of our 1st Amendment and numerous other sacrifices of our freedoms under the "Patriot Act".

Now, the same people who are unable to grasp the simple reality that criminals, by definition, don't obey laws think that disarming law abiding Americans will in any way affect gang warfare or determined killers who have proven that one dollar's worth of gasoline is deadlier(1) than any scary black rifle.

As sure as gun registration leads to gun confiscation, a totalitarian regime can only prey on unarmed citizens.

EXCERPT "Although gun control laws are not created equally in terms of overall impact, gun confiscation holds a special place in the halls of political repression. A trip down memory lane will give us a refresher of how gun confiscation has helped consolidate government power."CONTINUED

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/201...atewaypundit.com&utm_term=68856&utm_content=1

EXCERPT "The perennial gun-control debate in America did not begin here. The same arguments for and against were made in the 1920s in the chaos of Germany’s Weimar Republic, which opted for gun registration. Law-abiding persons complied with the law, but the Communists and Nazis committing acts of political violence did not."CONTINUED

    (1) "Happy Land fire"
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Land_fire

EXCERPT "González went to an Amoco gas station, then returned to the establishment with a plastic container with $1 worth of gasoline.[2][4] He spread the fuel at the base of a staircase, the only access into the club, and then ignited the gasoline.[5]

Eighty-seven people died in the resulting fire."CONTINUED

All of that writing or copying & pasting and you failed to address the issue. I repeat: To say, "Removing guns is the first step to Communism" is like saying "Drinking milk is the first step to heroin addiction".

You have provided not the tiniest motivation that indicates the removing of guns leads to Communism. In any case, what is your problem with Communism? I lived in W. Berlin in both Waidmannslust and near Nollendorfplatz during the Cold War so don't give me any "what do you?" rhetoric. Stalinism is not the A to Z of Communism. It is you who should brush up on your history. Pay special attention to men like Alexander Dubček and Mikhail Gorbatsjov.

Fine, I'll leave you to extoll the virtues of ruthless Communism, a form of government responsible for the slaughter and torment of more souls than any other form of government in recorded history.

It's an undeniable fact that every totalitarian disarmed its its citizens on its road to power.

I'll also encourage you to list any totalitarian government that did not disarm its victimized populace during its early rise to power.

    Obsurd.

    Obsurd.

And I encourage you to list anyone who did not drink milk prior to becoming a heroin addict.

The difference is that there are billions of people who drank milk and did not go on to become heroin addicts while all totalitarian regimes used "common sense gun control for the children" as a stepping stone to power.

If you're going to make false equivalencies that are absurd, you should at least learn to spell the word.

In what way is the following fact "Obsurd"?

It's an undeniable fact that every totalitarian regime disarmed its its citizens on its road to power.

Japan, Australia and New Zealand have 'disarmed' their citizens.
We barely cling to democracy now.
Actually - in Australia we didn't 'disarm' anyone - we just ensured you are appropriately licensed,
you know, just like you have a license to drive a car, be a dentist or doctor or build a house.

and how cooperative ad reasonable is the gun fanatic right?? they would die befoe givingup their weapons.

    ***************

And now a young teen has been killed by a cop ...........Shot in a bulls eye kill ........the chest.

Of course it raises the question about why on earth would a young teen be carrying a weapon to begin with?? That is how ingrained the weapons culture is . Cop shootings, mass shootings, individual shootings, mad man shootings.......are almost continuous ;now. That is the definition of an unsafe nation. When both the so called peace keepers.......ie cops........ and the population are at war with each other........ it takes away from any positive the a nation might stand for. The gun fanatics won't give an inch........as they are so terrified their so called liberties will be taken away ........along with their guns. That is an unfounded delusion...IF the nation is a true democracy.(which it claims to be )
