I don't think Joe would have beat him--or even won the nomination.

Trump was beatable, but likely not by a leftwinger (Warren, Sanders), and Joe was the only moderate type left by the time the virus was perceived as a threat and Trump was screwing up our response.

His campaign manager told Woodward his big worry was the virus. Kushner said the same thing. Imagine, Republicans might have regained the House, and held on to the Senate and White House.

Joe is not my hero, did not vote for him and was rather pissed we were again stuck between two old white dudes as our only possible winner. Thus I voted the way I have the past half dozen or so election and voted for Jo....not Joe

Neither did Trump, Trump put some restrictions, not a ban. That was never going to stop the virus. In Missouri the first case was a girl that had been studying in Italy. She flew from Italy to NY to Chicago, took the L to the Amtrack station, took the train to St Louis and then Ubered home. There was nothing in place to allow for any sort of contact tracing.

His rating was red 30 minutes after he was sworn in. For three years we jumped from one lib derail Trump project to another and then the left found Covid. The media spread the stories and the hate Trump because he killed us mantra and now the left actually thinks it was all true. Twern't.

BLM organizes rallies and that's about it. Nothing racist about that, or in saying "black lives matter." Of course, they matter and we need to fix how black people are treated (no, I don't accept they're the last word in what's fair).

The danger they actually present is getting lost in misguided charges of racism. BLM are pushing real socialism, where production is collectivized, instead of promoting reforms to the present system.

How we fix this above is the issue. We have millions of everyday folks worse off than they were in 1980. They're getting restless.

USA - (331.4m people; 581,011 covid deaths)

If we killed people at the rate they have in Canada, we would have killed 203,846, not 581,011.

The people decided last November who was responsible and voted him out.

we can all agree that socialism fails every time, and that those pushing for it cannot be taken seriously.
However, a group that only recognizes themselves and sets themselves aside based on race is inherently racist. Fwiw I’m not buying that black people are treated any worse than anyone else, in fact it’s quite the opposite. They have more free stuff that’s only available to them, more opportunities for jobs based on affirmative action, and right now they’re a protected class of people. No matter how poorly some of them act, the media gives them a pass. I’ve never seen criminals lionized this way, and I’m pretty sure the average joe black guy is embarrassed.
I don’t think we can fix it. The more people develop an entitlement attitude, the more we see emotions rule the day the worse this will get.
My only hope is the idea of doing the right thing and being responsible for your actions makes a comeback, that goes for everyone.

 

What does "sets themselves aside" mean? They haven't said "black lives matter more."

There's very little "free stuff" for black people (or brown people, or any people of color) and they are treated worse. Inner city schools have less money per pupil, their schools are older, redlining neighborhoods on mortgages still exists, and on and on.

Criminals aren't being "lionized," but they are excused by some media, mainly to gin up controversy and keep people tuned in.

"Entitlement attitude?" What are you talking about? Schools for black kids and other poor people are typically far worse than schools for white kids, especially in wealthier communities.

Amen to that. It's time, too, for people with means to take responsibility for a political and economic system screwing average folks of all colors.



Forty years of stalled wages--the entire working life of many people--is destabilizing society. If we don't fix this problem, we could see people turn away from the free enterprise system.

 

I tell you what. We add every member of congress and the judiciary and maybe even past presidents on that list. And I’ll take that deal.
