    Huge.
And potentially very, very bad news for the few states that remain 'may issue'.
Because NY has an outright ban on open carry, the subjective 'special need' provision of their concealed carry permit system will very likely be tossed.
    And not just in NY.

    Ripple effect:
If the court strikes this, the Democrats are very likely to give up on their current push for a federal ban 'assault weapons'.

Sadly, we won't hear the ruling until next June

The ban on carrying a gun would be unconstitutional in New York State but perfectly legal on a military base?

Gotta bad feeling about this, "conservative" court aside....it could easily rule that while states may not prevent the ownership of firearms they MAY regulate, if allow at all, the criteria for issuing concealed carry permits. I get antsy ANYTIME a 2nd Amendment case goes to SCOTUS.

That's the question before the court.
Good to see you understand the gravity of the situation.
In fact, there's a good chance the NY legislature will choose to change to 'shall issue', like Illinois did, to avoid the court's ruling on the issue.

Well, they -do- tend to change the rules when they get in the way of their agenda.

    You edited my post.

You ask for intellectual rigor when you are unable to give it.

Is it still useful to discuss with you here?

You don't have enough courage to answer my question?

I responded to the part that was relevant to the topic, and ignored your red herring.
    And so, again:
Good to see you understand the gravity of the situation.

I say we just make open carry of any weapon (including banned one) anywhere. Including schools, military instillations, government buildings and political rallies.

If, after two years, gun violence has not increased exponentially then we keep this law — if it has then we try meaningful gun control.

    Deal?

I will be visiting family overseas during this... transitions... good luck Americans!
