Trump Suggests He May Run for House in 2022 to Become Speaker: 'Very Interesting'

Former President Donald Trump suggested he would consider running for a House seat in 2022 in a bid to become Speaker of the House and launch an impeachment investigation against President Joe Biden.

"Why not, instead of waiting for 2024, and I'm hoping you'll run in 2024 but why not run in 2022 for the United States Congress? A House seat in Florida. Win big. Lead us to a dramatic landslide victory. Take the House by 50 seats. And then you become the Speaker of the House, lead the impeachment of Biden and start criminal investigations against Biden. You'll wipe him out for this last two years," Root said with excitement.

"Yeah, you know it's very interesting," Trump added. He said some have previously suggested he run for Senate as well. "But you know what, your idea might be better. It's very interesting." Right Wing Watch first reported on the remarks.

Here's a thought.... what if he ran and lost?? Unlikely, but would that finally be the silver cross pounded in his non-existent heart region?

It's not an outrageous plan. He would probably win, depending on where he ran. And if he did win and the Republicans get the majority in the House again, they'd almost certainly do whatever he wanted.

This could actually end up being a reality.

 

Yeah, the first 2 parts could become a reality, but the most important part is never going to happen in a million years... and this guy knows it better than anybody, if he truly thought about it...

You need 67 in the Senate to remove Biden from office, even on a phony impeachment charge... and you probably won't even get all of the R's....

As we all found out, even being a 2-time impeached, but never removed, POTUS doesn't really impact your chance of running again...

 

Not really sure how well that would that with Kevin McCarthy.

Considering how long McCarthy has been waiting to become Speaker.

That said, I am sure that he would step aside for a legislative genius (and master of House procedure, like Donald Trump) who (shouid he choose to run) is clearly destined to be the greatest House Speaker since Henry Clay.

 

Too much work, too large of a possibility he will lose, in my opinion. Trump's a coward and lazy. He would never do it.

 

He would run on "Lock her up" or "Lock him up" or "Lock somebody (except him) up".

Of course, it's not going to happen. It would be the death certificate for the Republican Party. He would never make it to speaker. But if he even ran for Congress, Democrats would be the first promoting him for the job, so they could turn the mid-terms into a national campaign against Trump. Giving them the opportunity to defeat him at the ballot boxes for a third time.

 

Trump can say anything and you all like clockwork will come in here and give him attention for it. Trump loves attention. He is winning every time you all create a thread about him.

Not sure, but I don't think he realizes what legal restrictions he would have, knowing all the trouble he is in now. That said, is he starting to sour on another campaign run.

Removing Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House would be the greatest achievement in Donald Trump's life, even more than the presidency. More and more, I'm putting a focus on the legislative branch of our government and its failures. I don't think Trump would be some stud of a speaker, but I do think it'd be an upgrade.

 

Trump gets attention because every time he says jump , most in the party say how high? Trump gets attention because he promotes lunatics like Marjory Greene and Matt Gaetz, while he attacks sane republicans like Liz Chaney and Adam kizinger. Trump gets attention because for these and other reasons , not to mention his post election antics culminating with sacking the Capitol on Jan. 6. He gets attention because he is an obvious threat to our country.

 

Trump gets attention because he lives rent free in the minds of haters.

Trump will be running alright. From creditors, prosecutors and civil plaintiffs.

Trump running for anything would be to the detriment of Republicans. If Trump runs for Congress, he may win the seat, but he will give the Democrats a gold mine in doing so.

I have doubts he could win anywhere, for dog catcher.

 

So, to be clear, you'd support a run for Congress?? In Florida's 22nd, which currently belongs to D Ted Deutch....

It's currently ranked D+6, so T**** could actually make it D by double digits.... you willing to risk that?

I mean it’s happened before. Was it a great accomplishment when Boehner did it?

 

Boehner wasn't particularly effective, I think my main point is that Establishment Washington, the beltway doesn't give a damn about most of us until election time. And I want good elected leaders who, regardless of election time are empathetic to and acting on the interests of the American People.

While this differs from person to person, I think we have some universal agreements: Economic investments, increases in social mobility and generally laying the discourse out to encourage the unity of the American People.

 

I am a true conservative and I want Trump to go away now. It is time for new leadership. I have said that about both sides of the aisle.

But, you have to admit how interesting this situation would be for our political theater.

 

I just don't support conspiracy theories like this based on a fantasy from the left.
