We All Owe Monica Lewinsky an Apology?

I think Bill still owes her $20.

Even at the time I remember being sickened by what was done to her by the press. There wasn't any part of her that wasn't picked apart. The fact that she's been able to move on and have a happy life makes her one tough cookie and deserving of our respect.

Did Trump have sex with Stormy before or after he was president?

That's not what he said and you know it.

He said Trump did not have sex with Stormy while president.

    Your post is missleading.

And she probably never would have. She told someone who she believed was a close intimate friend, Linda was the one who did the taping and forced this out of the closet.

"Tripp became a close confidante of Monica Lewinsky, another former White House employee, while they both worked in the Pentagon's public affairs office.[1] According to Tripp, who was about 24 years older than Lewinsky, they knew one another for a year and a half before the scandal began to reach its critical stage. After Lewinsky revealed to Tripp that she had been in a physical relationship with President Clinton, Tripp, acting on the advice of literary agent Lucianne Goldberg, began to secretly record phone conversations with Lewinsky while encouraging Lewinsky to document details of her relationship with the president.[1]

In August 1997, Michael Isikoff from Newsweek reported that Tripp said that she had encountered Kathleen Willey coming out of the Oval Office "disheveled", that "her face red and her lipstick was off." Willey alleged that Clinton groped her. Clinton's lawyer Robert S. Bennett said in the Newsweek article "Linda Tripp is not to be believed."[3]

In January 1998, Tripp gave the tapes to independent counsel Kenneth Starr in exchange for immunity from prosecution. Tripp disclosed to Starr that she was aware of the relationship between Lewinsky and Clinton, that Lewinsky had submitted a false affidavit denying the relationship to the federal court in Arkansas in the Clinton v. Jones lawsuit, and that Lewinsky had attempted to suborn Tripp's perjury in that suit to conceal what she knew of the Clinton-Lewinsky relationship and of Kathleen Willey from the federal court. As Tripp explained, she was being solicited to commit a crime to conceal evidence in the Jones civil rights case.[4] Jones's lawsuit, initially filed in April 1994 through her attorneys Joseph Cammarata and Gilbert K. Davis, eventually resulted in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in Clinton v. Jones which held that a sitting president of the United States does not have immunity against civil lawsuits for acts done before taking office, and unrelated to the office.[5][6]

Tripp also informed Starr of the existence of a navy blue dress that Lewinsky owned that was soiled with Clinton's semen. During their friendship, Lewinsky had shown the dress to Tripp and said she intended to have it dry-cleaned; Tripp convinced her not to have it cleaned.[7]"

I don't remember that much of the press towards Monica back then, but I know I did not form any opinions about her veracity or behavior whatsoever. At the time, I thought Linda was the scumbag friend, looking for some attention and some potential income at everyone's expense because she was the one driving - what was a consensual relationship - into the open against the expressed wishes of both of them. To this day, Monica is insistent that she was not pressured or bullied at all by Bill, she wanted Bill and was actually thoroughly smitten.

I dont recall Lewinsky being the subject of blame... everything I saw was directed at Clinton. But then I mostly ran in R circles at the time. Who was blaming her?

Goodness gracious, you couldn't wait to defend ol' Bill so badly that you did not even take time to understand the context of the conversation.

    Jeeze, what a silly goose.

Agreed. She betrayed Monica royally, but karma has a weird way of working. She died last year from pancreatic cancer.

So you would have thought more than twice about giving Bill a BJ? Interesting.

I don't think that's true. I think most were severely disappointed in Clinton.

Frankly, aside from lying about it, I could have cared less. And even lying about sex isn't a crime against the country.

For all we know, Bill and Hillary had an agreement; spoken or unspoken. That happens a lot. And if I was married to Hillary, Monica would have been looking pretty good to me too! I never have like Hillary.

Yeah that was stupid. He should have just refused to talk about it.

But there was an element of comedy about his response. The meaning of the word "is" is a Freshman level philosophy problem. There IS no satisfactory definition that isn't circular. LOL He played those prosecutors like a bunch of monkeys. Course he is a Rhode's Scholar and studied philosophy.

OK, since we are on the topic of Clinton (I was a fan of Bush Sr BTW) and being under oath and ultimately perjuring himself, how do you think The Donald would fair under oath?

I don’t think the public owes Lewinsky a apology. She should have had enough common sense to know that engaging in a extra martial affair with the president of the United States probably wasn’t going to end well.
Clinton allies at the time, who smeared Lewinsky too cover for Clinton definitely owe her a apology.

Actually its hardly ever prosecuted when its about a civil matter. This was about as minor as any perjury charge can possibly get.

LOL, any attorney working for him, that recommends he play an active role in his own legal matters, should be disbarred as providing incompetent counsel.

That is pretty much the case. He wanted to testify on several subjects but his lawyers had a fit because they know he is incapable of telling the truth,

Trump and most Republicans are very allergic to ever testifying under oath.

and I never said he did, and you know it, your post is misleading

I said both Trump and Clinton committed adultery and I said Trump sued Stormy while he was President for breaking his NDA he used to silence her... all true statements

Civil matter? Where did you ever come up with that.
Lying to federal investigators is a felony and can get you up to 5 years.
