With the threat of a lawsuit hanging over every medical practitioner who is faced with a neccessary termination of pregnancy it is logical they will hesitate and you will see a rise in Maternal deaths

Texas already has a horrendous rate for maternal mortality

 

Although I don't support the law as mandated, As of now, a doctor in Texas who performs an abortion on a fetus with a detectable heartbeat when the mother’s safety is at risk can not be sued. If he is sued for performing a 7 week elective abortion, the penalty can be as high a 10K.

Thats why I asked about this mortality rate. As it will be unaffected

No, in Ireland the issue was there was no definition of a “medical emergency” and this is what will happen here - remember that the innocence or guilt can only be determined AFTER the lawsuit goes to court and the medical officer/s are forced through disclosure

Nobody is going to introduce a bill forcing a mother to die over an abortion. Thats not even remotely in the cards.

In the case of Savita Halappanavar she had a “partial miscarriage” but there was still a foetal heartbeat. She repeatedly asked for a termination ( she was 17 weeks) because she knew something was very very wrong. She died of sepsis (blood poisoning)

I have seen a woman come close to death because the pregnancy triggered a thyroid storm and it was a religious institution so there was reluctance to intervene early. Just how sick must a woman become before it is considered a “medical emergency “ and who decides?

Also consider this - all it would take is for, let us say, the in- laws to report the medical staff because they believed that not enough was done to save the foetus and bingo! Lawsuit

Did you know California gets 4.4 million acre-feet of water annually from the Colorado River? It irrigates crops in Palo Verde, Imperial and Coachella valleys and is also vital for urban areas in Southern California. Around 18 million people actually. If California were to secede where you going to get that water from? How are you going to water your crops and provide water for those 18 million people? Or do you expect to continue to be able to use that water that comes from other states? States of which you are no longer a part of the Union of.

And that is just one resource of which California is dependent on other States for. There's more. Energy for instance. California imports 25% of its energy needs from surrounding States (as far as Montana). The largest supplier is Arizona, most of New Mexico and a small part of Nevada...all red states at around 47% of that 25%. Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, most of Nevada, Colorado, Utah do the rest. Assuming you "took" Washington and Oregon with you you would still be short energy from 8 other States total. All of which are Red States.

You may bad mouth Red States....but without them your precious California would be screwed blued and tattooed. Should I go through Washington and Oregon also? Oh, and don't forget that there are a lot of counties in Oregon that want to join Idaho rather than stay beholden to people like you that think you're all that and a bag of tricks. So don't think it will be as much of a utopia as you think it would be.

Btw, secession IS legal. It just has to be done the proper way. All it would take to allow it is for Congress and possibly the majority of the States to accept and say "yes, you may go".
