America HAS RETREATED into isolationism! We should be comparing the US with its almost identical counterpart, the EU. But, we aren't, so there is no way to understand the magnitude of difference between the two national entities without further inquiry on the subject.

    The answer is quite simple:
*The EU is a far-better place to live because of its National Healthcare Services (literally "birth-to-death" wide). Which is why its lifespan is significantly longer than the US.
*Post-secondary Education costs litlle in the EU, so kids are not punished by exclusion.

There are only two key elements in judging a country (on a subjectively reduced scale) and they are National Health Care as well as National Education Level. Both of which cost next-to-nothing in the EU. And whyzzat?

Because unlike the US, the EU does not believe that Major Expenditure should go to Defense! The EU-countries are thus able to dedicate their major revenue income to Healthcare and Education. Period! It is as simple as that!

On both counts, the EU is a better place for a family to live than the US! For an edification on the subject of "where it is best to live", here: Quality of Life

    Excerpt:

Look north, America! Look north .... !

It is sometimes amazing the political turmoil amongst heads-of-state (in the US) can be as regards certain subjects.

As the article excerpted below states, the subject of vaccination (because it is highly individual in nature and thus public-wide) can have a significant political-impact upon state Governors.

The article below is excerpted from here:
I cannot imagine what is happening to the Replicant Party except that it has got a lot more "turmoiled" than usual. Going up against vaccination in a major epidemic is tantamount to putting a pistol to any sitting governor's head. (Of course, that could do a world of good in some states.)

And I doubt that the Dems are that much different. It may be simply because the present Covid-turmoil has had a Huge Impact upon public-opinion on both sides of the political fence between the two parties ...

Life expectancy is not everything. If it was we'd put people in sterile bubbles from birth to death and regulate their every action from exercise to food.

The fact is, despite the pretty objectively better standard of living in the EU, I'd rather live in the US. There are things more important to me than my health, believe it or not.

It's not the EU but I'm sure Australia would be more than up your alley. I'd be quite happy to switch citizenship with you if you'd like?

When someone else is paying the rent champagne and caviar is more affordable...let them pay totally for THEIR OWN DEFENSE and see how paradise pans out then.

I predict you will receive several variations of “then move”. America is a great place — until you start comparing US to nations we once surpassed.

Happiness, life expectancy, medical treatment, educational attainment, debt (both individual and governmental) — by many metrics the obscure “freedom” measurement — America is falling in each of these.

The difference between a patriot and a nationalist is that the patriot acknowledges the above and asks how we make the nation better while a nationalist ignores the above and demands complacency.

The people rushing in are mostly from third world nations. If they were from the places being compared to then you would have a point — but it isn’t so you don’t.

Your posts is a perfect example of why the US had stated lagging behind though.

I'm not the least bit surprised to see a post like this one at this time highlighting the feeling that America is sinking rather quickly under biden's socialist/Marxist -constitutional killing agenda, and that there comes this interest in at least comparing our demise to other nations that have a leg up on us. At this rate, I may want to pack my bags and go live in Afghanistan where there is a more powerful leadership with the Taliban. We have biden's open door policy to allow 2 million illegals to cross into America's cradle to grave lifestyle paid in full by you and me the taxpayers. So the pressure is mounting for we Americans to either wipe out the entire democrat leadership positions here, or get ready to go down and join the other 3rd world nations.

The last thing a partisan would ever use is data. They get their opinions from their party talking points emails.

That is assuming they would feel the need to spend more on defense if we were not playing world police. There is no evidence to base this on, just American arrogance

I don't think that's the main reason. I think the main reason is that we have devolved into a form of fascism in which healthcare and education have become political issues to the right. They are not political issues anywhere else in the planet. Except for extremist religious totalitarian nations. Which is what the right appears to strive for us to become.

We spend more than double what most other EU countries spend on healthcare. And expenditure in education as a share of GDP is comparable to most EU countries. It's the politicization by the right that is killing us. Fascist ideologues who attack education and refuse to regard healthcare as a human right, and not just a business.

THE HEART OF AMERICA'S FUTURE IS IN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION

That may be true. If it is, what is likely to happen is the dissolution of the present "Rightist Right", namely the Replicant Party.

It has become exaggeratedly Rightist. Meaning quite simply this:
*The Right has helped institute the exaggerated dominance of "Moneyed Power". Meaning 'if you kiss the Right asses, you'll get the money you need for your election".
*The Replicants have become a Nazi like organization. Either you bend to the will of a few people running the party, or you can go find your own funding. (Which many do.)

I sincerely hope the above is a mistaken interpretation of the Right in America. But, I dare say that I may not be very wrong.

About the above expenditure for private-school education:
*The cost-of-operations is paid to the university by the student in the US.
*In a private university. Not in a state-university.

    And yes, I agree wholeheartedly. Each and every heartbeat by humanity is the responsibility of the state/country in which they live. That same country has the means to obtain and exploit the most advanced techniques to heighten learning. But, in fact, most state-owned secondary-schools in the US are hard pressed for funds, and doing the most with the least of funding;

I don't understand the prioritization of obtaining the most advanced battle-hardware for the DoD and spending whatever it costs. But Uncle Sam gives drivel to funding National Education - which is key to national economic-security and thus future lives of his people... !

We are shooting Uncle Sam in the foot! We cannot expect that he becomes and maintains himself as the cornerstone of an "Advanced Learning". Were that the case, I'd not be teaching so many Yanks in my classes here in France ...

    Brainless Bollocks from the Rabid-Right.

You would not recognize a Socialist if s/he bit you on the brain. Presuming you had one.

If anything, on an international context, Biden is center-Left. Not bad, but nothing worth rushing home to tell Mommy ...

I know a handful of Europeans who have moved to the US, and a great many of them who moved back.

The ones who remain are from the Eastern EU countries where "coming back" means abandoning a much better lifestyle in the US. And that is difficult to do.

It will take some time for the New "Eastern EU" countries to assimilate into Western European customs/practices, particularly in politics. Most - it seems to me - are ancient Communist-politicians who think that if they aren't running the country then it is most certainly destined for hell ... !

Bingo. We see our standings drop - year over year - in education. Instead of acknowledging there may be a problem, we see folks criticizing for political or racist reasons. Why not focus on the actual problem? Same with healthcare. It is run as big business and too many are proud of that, not realizing that they are one big medical problem away from bankruptcy. And if they aren't because of a good insurance plan, they don't care about how many others are vulnerable.

We have lost our 'care for one another' spirit in this country. Instead, we hear about 'welfare queens' and people too lazy to work. They don't realize that their attitude is contributing to the decay in this country.

Seeing how bernie sanders is a self described socialist to leaning heavily toward being an outright commie--backed up with the socialist squad from the dem congress, along with virtually everyone representing the socialist-leftist run dem party, and since I see and read about these socialist democrats on a daily basis, I would say that seeing these anti American socialists is something everyone in America that has at least one active brain cell can recognize with no problem at all.

Well, the government estimates we have 11 million to 20 million illegals who snuck in. Common sense says you can probably double those numbers because the government wants the numbers to be conservative. No one knows who they are, where they came from, or where they are. Even you and government data can't tell us that.

So you are basically saying you don’t like sources and the estimates conflict with your narrative so you want to ignore them and use your own partisan opinions instead.

    Makes sense.

I will stick with the data that is available.
    You do you though.
