Presently we have a Minimum age to seek our Federal government offices, shouldn't we also have a maximum age for all pf our offices?? We presently have far too many seriously senior citizens holding Federal offices. I am asking this as an 80 year old person.

That’s a hard one. I know some 80 year olds that are healthier than some 60 year olds I know. I don’t think there should be a cut off. It should be based on some kind of cognitive test. A standardized one that can’t be easily fudged

Yeah, that is a hard one. I'm 87 and know a lot of younger people who live on the far side of the hill while I and some other older farts are enjoying the morning side of the mountain.

An IQ test might be more beneficial. Plus some sort of certificate that shows they've taken a civics class.

I have been advocating for this for years. This should be a simple non partisan issue but some how it is not.

First time I've ever agreed with @61falcon. 75 years or 20 years service, whichever comes first. I also propose a maximum age to be able to participate in social media, such as this site. 70 years. After that, it just seems to be yelling at clouds.

This. I've passed civics every year(I may disagree with our foundation of government, but that doesn't give me an excuse to not know/comprehend/understand it.) And all too often, Washington doesn't understand it. That's why Obama/Biden passes executive orders that they once proclaimed that they couldn't.

I mean, restricting access of social media to the elderly just seems like cruel and unusual punishment. I mean, wouldn't you want to stay in contact with your grandparents?

I don't know about IQ test but I love the idea of testing in general. Our first round of hiring are technical tests to all of our programmer applicants. If they pass that they move on to the second round. I think a test can be design for politicians too. Whether it is to test knowledge of the constitution, laws, international policies, economics etc... I will leave that to the experts but a test is a great idea.

If I had grandparents that spent all their time on social media I probably wouldn't want to talk to them anyway. Nevertheless, they have this thing called a phone.

I'm a fan of letting the voter decide. If the voter thinks a candidate is too old, they are free to vote against them. Speaking of the voter deciding, I also think the 22nd amendment ought to be repealed. Let the voter decide whether or not to elect someone to a third term. To be fair about this, if we retain the 22nd, then members of congress, both chambers ought to have a limit to how many terms they can serve or be elected to. The same for Governors and state legislatures.

Either have term limits for every elected official or none. Let the voter decide. So a big no on the age question from me. If I think someone is too old, I can always vote for someone else.

If it's appropriate and legal to have a minimum age then it should be true for a maximum age as well.

We have far too many senior citizens who should be retired in every branch of our government.

Somebody seeking reelection to the Senate at age 75 is 81 before the term expires.
