"FDA panel rejects plan to administer Pfizer Covid booster doses to general public

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) vaccine committee has voted against authorizing booster doses of Pfizer’s Covid-19 jab, stating that more data on the shot’s efficacy is needed.

The agency’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee met on Friday and heard arguments from scientists and Pfizer representatives in favor of authorizing a third dose of the US drugmaker’s Covid-19 vaccine for the general public. After several hours of deliberation, the panel voted 16-3 against approving the boosters.

The panel, however, could still clear the shots for older populations. Scientists continued debating the need for a third dose of the vaccines for older populations after their initial vote, leaving open the possibility of other votes.

The nonbinding decision by the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee comes as the Biden administration has said it wants to begin offering booster shots to the general public as early as next week, pending authorization from U.S. health regulators. While the agency hasn’t always followed the advice of its committee, it often does. A final FDA decision could come in a matter of hours. The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention has scheduled a two-day meeting next week to discuss plans to distribute the third shots in the U.S."

I didn't see this coming. The FDA panel was only asked whether a third shot was "safe and effective for people 16 and older", and they came back with a pretty decisive "No" on that question.

The panelists came back with a host questions that conservatives have raised over the past several months. For example: "Dr. Cody Meissner of Tufts Medical Center said he is worried about extra doses for younger age groups given the risk of heart inflammation that has been seen in mostly younger men after a second dose. While the condition is very rare, he said, it is not clear if that risk would increase with another dose."

Well ole Biden I guess wasn't following the scientist in his divisive speech a few days ago. Shocked I tell you.

These vaccine experts and doctors were extremely concerned about the side effects (blood clots, cancer) that the Democrats and the Mainstream media have downplayed, rejected and censored. The doctors cited the same Israeli and UK studies that I have posted on the forum.

The big issue with the Biden Administration is that they aren't receiving accurate statistics, so they had to rely on Israel and the UK. There's big issues with our data. We are underestimating the number of Vaccinated patients that have contracted and died from Covid-19, and we have failed to monitor deaths among Vaccinated patients that may be the result of side-effects.

Bummer.. No booster for me...oh well, maybe I'll get 2 flu shots instead...

BTW, this is why you should follow Current Events rules and use the Linked Headline (Also this probably be moved to the COVID forum anyway)

The committee voted 16 to 2 against a broader recommendation

Also, the same panel later voted unanimously for boosters for 65+ and those at "high-risk", which I assume are anybody who listens to the GOP for their health advice...

So the left admits that COVID is more like the flu and less like polio, which I've said all along.

Thanks for confirming my predictions, leftists.

What concerns me is that science is supposed to be factual, repeatable and undeniable, yet 3 people voted to give the jab when an overwhelming majority said no.

Leftists ignore the fact that a higher percentage of young males die from the vaccine than from COVID itself.

That is the way science always is, and the way it should be. There should always be dissenting voices in true science

Israel has proved that the vaccines don't stop transmission. Deal with it.

I guess science is something that changes as we go.
    Fauci has told us:

Masks don't protect and aren't necessary
    Masks are neccessary and protect
Social distancing and masks will work
Shut down everything the only thing that will work
We can't shut down forever masks and social distancing
Vaccines will stop you from getting it 96% of the time.
Vaccines won't stop you from getting nor transmitting the virus
Vaccine will keep you from the hospital
Vaccine won't keep you from hospital but you won't die
A booster will boost and stop you from getting it

FDA says we don't have a clue what a booster will or will not achieve and only the most vulnerable should take it because at their age the long term consequences aren't as dire.

Biden says all of the above and your killing people if you don't participate and the booster would be available this month for everyone, of course he wasn't listening to his scientist at the FDA. He's literally dividing America instead of laying out the facts and helping people understand how a vaccine may be helpful, he plays your a lowlife card as if he's not president of the 40% of black people that refuse to take it or all the PHD's which, are the highest level of unvaccinated in terms of the educational level. He really needed a How to role out a vaccine for dummies book to make this more successful.

Their decision contradicts the many frivolous arguments that Democrats have been making for the last several months. And what Republicans argued that 65+ and "high risk" individuals shouldn't be allowed to have booster shots if they need them? Republicans have always said that it should be up to the patient and doctor while the Biden Administration has argued for mandating Covid-19 boosters under the false premise that they were safe and effective. This panel has just rejected the Democrat argument. Not only were Democrats willing to violate the civil rights of Americans by forcing them to take Covid-19 boosters, but their decision would have resulted in severe side effects to Children and adults between 16-64.

And all the information that these doctors and vaccine experts utilized are statical studies that has been rejected by Democrats on this forum. Every single issue pertaining to vaccines that Republicans have argued has been legitimized. We had the same questions and concerns that these doctors were discussing.

The concerns about cancer in vaccinated patients is particularly concerning. Apparently, doctors are finding +10 percent increases of cancer in vaccinated patients. More examinations are need to confirm these findings, but there's a lack of information regarding vaccinated patients in US statistics. These panelists were actually complaining about the lack of data that's needed to track side-effects among vaccinated patients.

First part of bold is Way premature... Boosters were never on the mandatory list...
Second part is complete conjecture on your part....

It's amazing that the leftists fall for the CDC claims, despite the CDC claims being proven wrong time after time after time.

You're doing your duty, of course, pitching for the anti-American Gestapo.

Yes in the same way that seatbelts don’t stop you from dying in a car wreck.
They just dramatically reduce the chances you will.

No, facts prove that being vaccinated does NOT stop the transmission of the virus, which is what dishonest leftists keep claiming.

There has been good news, too, on the subject of viral load in breakthrough cases. Researchers in Israel studied vaccinated people who became infected. The viral load in these breakthrough cases was about three to four times lower than the viral load among infected people who were unvaccinated. Researchers in the U.K. reported a similar result. They also found that vaccinated people who became infected tested positive for about one week less than unvaccinated people.
