OK, Vann retired as a Lt. Col who was actually in Vietnam up to around 1963.
Vann as a ranking Officer had a first hand view.

I got out of the Army in late January of 1964. At the time for Americans, it was not a thing to worry about.
We had few of our men in Vietnam and were advisors as Vann was.

I served in the 1st BN, 30th Infantry and then Col DePuy had just departed command. He was super admired. All I heard from the other grunts was how super he was as our commander. (1st BN was 1st BG when he commanded and when I arrived in the unit in 1962)
DePuy went to Vietnam to command. He rose to 3 star there. And he was similar to Patton in fighting. And he fired many other officers who he believed were not there to win. (56 officers fired in Vietnam)
Study DePuy for a superior commanding General. He retired with 4 stars and he did not believe either that the war was correctly fought.

Vann was brilliant, but the plan he tried to execute was mission impossible. He came up with several viable strategies for actually destroying the enemy in the South.
The detailed description of the policies than made victory impossible from the start is a painful read. For instance, the selection of Diem was an astonishing error.

For instance he defends China yet China spawned CV19. Reports from China directly confirm China developed the virus as a combat virus to be used in War.

Given that Republicans say that COVID is a chinese bioweapon, and then do everything they can to help spread it, then by their own admission, Republicans are willingly acting as the servants/dupes of the Chinese.

I am suspicious that Vann and DePuy were kind of clone officers.
You would be amazed at how respected by the troops was DePuy.
Vann departed Vietnam very early on. DePuy arrived after 1964. DePuy got there already super respected for his ability to win.
When Vann left, the citizens of America gave no thought to what happened in Vietnam. It was for our country a low grade event.
YES, I served when the special forces were training the Vietnamese. I recall at Ft. Benning some Vietnamese in Jump School learning that skill. I was then told they were officers in the army of South Vietnam.
I am trying to mine my memory as to me seeing Vietnamese there. I may have been told this and not seen it myself.

As to other republicans supporting my hunch that the Chinese created CV19 as a bio weapon, that is what I wanted to discuss with them. They have the ability to keep the Trump hate out of the discussion.
