Well whats your opinion on the necessity to staff this position correctly? It should have been obvious that this administration was going to face serious challenges in this area as they were. Why did we get someone who had no qualification whatsoever? Google "pete buttigieg not qualified", dozens of far-left rags were in agreement: he was the wrong choice. Bootyboy was a blogger and a mayor of a failed ghetto town and that's it (because no I'm not counting 'gay' as a qualification although obviously the people who told Biden to hire him did).

But but but.... he made it a "turnaround city", /cough, by demolishing any home the city couldn't collect tax on, excessively fining [black/brown] residents who were barely hanging on for code violations and raising taxes resulting in exodus from historically POC communities which were also conveniently located near the type of up-and-coming posh areas that gentrifying hipster Whites love to move in take over - which of course they did. Funny how he was directly responsible for doing the exact same thing he claimed the highway system did.

Maybe days to a week, not TWO months or more. You know this, but you're playing games.

The self employed can’t take off months at a time. My father owned a dry cleaners and he worked six days a week because he had eight kids. Not sure if he worked six days a week for the money or because there were 8 screaming kids at home.

He's not 90% of Dads, this is about him being our Secretary of Transporation in a transportation crisis, if he can't be there to do the vital job that needs to be done then resign and let someone else do it. It's not about HIM it's about the COUNTRY. Are parents on Christmas morning supposed to tell their kids sorry no toys but Mayor Pete got to not do his job so he could be home with HIS baby. Maybe instead of running The Christmas Story on Christmas they could run videos of Mayor Pete laughing and smiling and having a good time with his baby. And when you go to buy groceries and there is nothing of the shelves you can still be content that Mayor Pete got to spend time with his baby.

The Secretary of Transpiration needs to have his arse IN HIS OFFICE holding the necessary meetings and giving the necessary directives and then on planes flying around the country meeting with directors of our ports, our rail systems and our trucking systems. He can't do that while he's home changing diapers.

Oh spare we raised our greatest generations without 12 weeks of parental leave. And THIS job is not just ANY job if he can't do it then he should have resigned, you can't be the Secretary of Transportation of the United States sitting at home feeding the baby ESPECIALLY in a TRANSPORTATION CRISIS.

Bigotry and homophobia on full display in this thread. What a surprise.

Newsflash: It's not about childbirth or breast feeding, but anyone who took care of a newborn should know about the stress and lack of sleep that is associated with it. Or, maybe, the ones who are criticizing Buttigieg think that taking care of a newborn is woman's work, and they would not be caught dead doing any of it.

I’m confident the dept can still function without him a few weeks. And it said he was still making some decisions and already coming back. It’s not like emails are just going unanswered now.

Meeting with them for what? Do our ports not know how to function unless the former mayor of a small town comes and tells them? Lol

The big retailers were meeting with the port controllers to formulate a plan. Bootychug wasn't involved.

PETE BUTTIGIEG ENJOYS SECOND MONTH OF PATERNITY LEAVE AS SUPPLY CHAIN CRISIS WORSENS.

“Meanwhile, top toy executive Isaac Larian of MGA Entertainment told Fox News on Thursday that ‘whether the ports are open 24 hours a day or 48 hours a day, you cannot get labor. If you cannot get labor, you cannot get trucks, you cannot get the merchandise out.’ As we noted earlier, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, a point of entry for 40% of all US containerized goods, more than 80 container ships are at anchor and 64 at berths across the twin ports. The backlog doesn’t stop there as it takes well more than a week for entry into the port. Once the containers are unloaded, it takes another week to leave the port to warehouses. Unfortunately for poor families struggling to afford basic needs this year amid horrendous inflation, the US transportation secretary is MIA.”

Incompetence rots from the head down.
