Actually no. One of my pass times after retiring was helping my better half move freight. She was a traffic manager for an RPM Inc division that manufactures caulking and other products. My favorite route was Cleveland, OH to Southern CA. I dealt with numerous owner operators ,,, none of whom owned trucks that would meet today's CA standard. My favorite OO expedited a load of floor mats that met Toyotas at CA ports. He got paid for a truckload to expedite and my freight went along for the ride - cheap. He and most other owner operators brought back produce.

The CA route was very popular among Owner Operators because of the produce back-haul.

It was a great way to apply advanced degrees in nuclear engineering in retirement ,,, just for its educational value. Everything moves by truck ... and the price to move freight depends on the availability of return freight.
