You might just catch Covid and die in which case you won't have to worry about the vaccine anymore.

I know perfectly well what is in them. Hint: not a microchip. Not anything magnetic. Not anything that makes you infertile. Not anything that turns you into a crocodile or makes you grow camel hooves. Nothing that Bill Gates put in there. What actually is in them, has been listed in other posts in this very thread, with a list of all components, which is known.

Yes, this virus won't go away; it will become endemic. So, it will not end with the vax, and then a booster. Why should it? If the threat continues, mitigation should continue, too. Don't we take the flu shot every year? What is different?

We probably will need yearly Covid-19 vaccines like we have the yearly flu shot. I doubt that when this thing becomes endemic, there will be much of a mandate (not to forget, the courts may thwart the existing one), except for the Covid-19 vaccines being incorporated into the list of existing ones that are required to enroll in schools and to work in certain fields like healthcare. For travel, some countries may require it too, like some countries require yellow fever shots.

This vaccination situation is no different than what already exists for a number of other diseases. It's been made this huge hot potato just because undue, unwarranted politics got mixed into it. This is a biological, public health issue; not a political issue, but unfortunately it was turned into one.

I'm not crazy about mandates; I prefer gentle persuasion, with a respectful attempt to dispel misinformation. I think mandates alienate people who could be persuaded with a respectful approach. These people will now be enraged and will dig their heels even more, claiming exemptions.

There are other approaches that could have been used for the ones who really don't want the vaccines. An infusion of monoclonal antibodies seems to be much more acceptable to these folks (although, why, beats me... they don't want to get into their bodies a substance that will enhance their immunity and was developed in a short period, but they are more than willing to get into their bodies... another substance that will enhance their immunity and was developed in a short period. Crazy stuff). But anyway, the latest studies showed that one monoclonal antibodies infusion delivers protection for at least 6 months (could be more but the study only looked at the 6-month mark). Also, the oral antivirals being developed by Merck and Pfizer are very promising, especially because they hit the virus on a target that doesn't mutate and all variants (present and future) have.

So, no, as the therapeutics improve, I think at one point we'll just conquer this thing, and mandates will be kept to a minimum, just like they usually are (school, healthcare workers, a few other fields). By the way, while I don't favor mandates for all workers, I do favor mandates for healthcare workers, a completely different situation, given that they might spread a deadly virus to a very fragile population they take care of.

I took my booster this morning. Basic vaccination, 2 doses of Pfizer. Booster, a half-dose of Moderna. So far, no side effects. I didn't have much the first time either; the second dose, just a very low-grade, transient fever and some muscle aches, tiny headache, all gone in 24hrs. We'll see what happens with the booster. The half-dose is supposed to be less reactogenic.

Why did I pick Moderna instead of another Pfizer? A study I quoted in some other post of mine showed that mixing vaccines achieves higher antibody titer.

My wife had a full-body rash to each of her two basic doses of Pfizer. I was concerned about her second dose, but she wanted it anyway despite the rash, given the huge risk we were exposed to, at the time (like me, she is a physician and she was treating Covid-19 patients). She took the second Pfizer in our employee clinic, where help can be delivered immediately in case of anaphylaxis. She did get the rash again, but that was it.

So, we were assuming she was allergic to PEG. When the time for a booster came, she picked the J&J, given that both the Pfizer and the Moderna contain PEG.

Oh boy, she had a huge allergic reaction to the J&J as well, actually worse. Within hours she was dizzy, had a fever, and vomited twice. She was weak and had to lay down, also with a severe headache and muscle aches everywhere. The full body rash returned, even worse than before. I was worried.

But in 24 hours she recovered, although only 4 additional days later she felt fully back to her usual self.

Anyway, this is to say that even an allergic reaction of the skin rash kind is not a full contra-indication to the vaccines, as long as it doesn't progress to anaphylaxis, which tends to happen in the first 15 minutes, sometimes 30. It is advisable, though, that people with a history of allergy take their vaccines in a hospital clinic where epi-pen and ventilation equipment are available.

Given that a member here ( @EyesWideOpen ) seemed worried about the ingredients in a Covid-19 vaccine, and given that earlier I've already listed the ingredients for the Pfizer and Moderna shots, here's a list of ingredients for the J&J vaccine, which I hadn't provided before:
    • Recombinant, replication-incompetent Ad26 (adenovirus strain #26) vector, encoding a stabilized variant of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike (S) protein (this is the active component; the others below are adjuvants to enhance the attraction of the vaccine to T-cells, and coating to keep the vaccine stable)
    • Polysorbate-80
    • 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin
    • Trisodium citrate dihydrate
    • Sodium chloride (that's your run of the mill salt you have in your kitchen)
    • Citric acid monohydrate (that's pretty much lemon juice)
    • Ethanol (that's the same alcohol you drink in your beer)
What is NOT in the vaccine (together with no microchips, no magnetic stuff, no Beast mark for the Devil, no infertility-causing stuff, nothing from Bill Gates):
    • No preservatives like thimerosal or mercury or any other preservatives.
    • No antibiotics like sulfonamide or any other antibiotics.
    • No medicines or therapeutics like ivermectin or any other medications.
    • No tissues like aborted fetal cells, gelatin, or any materials from any animal.
    • No food proteins like eggs or egg products, gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, nut products, or any nut byproducts (COVID-19 vaccines are not manufactured in facilities that produce food products).
    • No metals like iron, nickel, cobalt, titanium, rare earth alloys, or any manufactured products like microelectronics, electrodes, carbon nanotubes or other nanostructures, or nanowire semiconductors.
    • No latex. The vial stoppers used to hold the vaccine also do not contain latex.
I hope that the above reassures those who are hesitant because apparently they don't know what's in the vaccine.

I think for those that are still on the fence about the vaccine being a one-world government mind-control plot, there is literally nothing you can say to convince them otherwise.

It turns out, easy access to information wasn't what was holding us back all those pre-internet years.

Oh yes, I should have added that George Soros also didn't put anything into these vaccines. Maybe that will do it. Wink, wink.

Maybe we should also add: George Soros and Bill Gates did put some microchips into something intended to mind-control you and turn you into a drone for them, or make you transgender: it's in ivermectin! They knew these guys wouldn't want the vaccine but would flock to ivermectin, so that's where they put the mind-control stuff. Genius!

The UK has finally gotten around to mandating the vaccine for health workers. Between 80-100k health workers are still unvaccinated (I just don't understand this) and they will lose their jobs unless vaccinated by...wait for it... April 1st next year.
So after the winter surge and Christmas generated peak.

Wow. This should be a condition of employment since day one. But I guess, right-winger Boris Johnson doesn't want to irritate his base, huh?

Their reasoning is that they didn't want to exacerbate existing staff shortages (largely caused by Brexit) during the winter covid/flu season. Backwards thinking, if you ask me.
There doesn't appear to be the same left/right split on taking the vaccine here. The split seems to be between the informed and the misinformed.

    • French data: on males ages 12 to 29, 13.3/100,000 cases of myocarditis for Moderna's vaccine compared with 2.7 cases for the Pfizer vaccine.

    • American data from the CDC showed the rates of severe heart disease were lower in Moderna recipients than in those who received Pfizer's or Johnson & Johnson's.
So, the Moderna vaccine causes more myocarditis in young men than Pfizer's, but the cases tend to be milder than Pfizer's.

I remind people that the virus itself causes heart damage in 45.8% of young and healthy people (college athletes) so even the Moderna's risk of 13.3 cases in 100,000 subjects is still much, much, much rarer than the cases caused by the virus itself.is

Earlier on in the pandemic there were reports that heart damage in sporty people was caused by these people thinking that instead of resting, they could fight the virus by continuing exercising while showing symptoms and this was the primary cause of long covid

Sorry but I find this hard to believe. Sure, if you exercise while you're having myocarditis, that's risky, but the myocarditis was caused by the virus in the first place, not by the exercise. Young people exercising doesn't cause myocarditis without the virus. Now, long Covid is a very complex issue and I doubt that exercise is what causes it.

This was the report I was referring to:
    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...YQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3ImsbVEFSbcaSrLZzd5Lah&ampcf=1

Basically it's saying that don't heavily exercise while the body is recovering from covid as exercise worsens any heart damage caused by the virus

Like I said, I don't doubt that exercising while having myocarditis is a bad idea. What I said I find hard to believe is that this is the primary cause of Long Covid.

    Singapore data:

Pfizer + Pfizer + Moderna booster is better than Pfizer + Pfizer + Pfizer booster.

That's what I did for me. I took two Pfizer shots for my basic vaccination, and a Moderna booster.

    ------------

New York City has approved boosters for all adults, not just for the categories mentioned by the FDA/CDC.They join Colorado, California and New Mexico in allowing all adults who want a booster, to get one.
The only conditions are, 6 months after the last dose of Moderna or Pfizer, or two months after the single dose of J&J.

Vaccines do not help at all.
    Just look at the worldmeter.
Cases are stubbornly go up with almost straight line regardless of any vaccines or masks.

    https://publichealthscotland.scot/media/11223/22-01-19-covid19-winter_publication_report.pdf

“a simple comparison of COVID-19 case rates in those who are vaccinated and unvaccinated should not be used to assess how effective a vaccine is in preventing serious health outcomes, because there are a number of differences between the groups, other than the vaccine itself, and these biases mean that you cannot use the rates to determine how well the vaccines work.”

World Health Organization: ‘No Evidence At All’ That Healthy Children, Adolescents Need Boosters Daily Wire, January 19, 2022

The World Health Organization’s top scientist said during a media briefing on Tuesday that there is no evidence that healthy children and adolescents need booster shots and that the goal needs to be protecting specific vulnerable populations.

“The aim is to protect the most vulnerable, to protect those at highest risk of severe disease and dying,” the W.H.O.’s chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan said. “Those are our elderly populations, the immunocompromised, people with underlying conditions, but also health care workers because if a lot of health care workers get infected as we see now, they can be out sick and we don’t want them getting severely ill.”

“There’s no evidence right now that healthy children or healthy adolescents need boosters,” she added. “No evidence at all.”

Moderna no longer used to vaccinate under-31s. Brussels Times, January 13, 2022

Brussels joins several Nordic countries, who also stopped using Moderna for those 30 and under, due to the the potential for heart inflammation:

Sweden’s health ministry announced on Wednesday that it was pausing injections of Moderna’s vaccine for those aged 30 and younger. Denmark announced a similar pause for those aged 18 and younger, according to Bloomberg.

Finland followed suit on Thursday. Finnish health official Mika Salminen said the government was pausing injections of Moderna’s vaccine into males aged 30 and under. All three countries cited evidence that Moderna’s vaccine may be a source of myocarditis, or heart inflammation, in young people.

You are joking! We mandated the vaccine months ago and are now pushing for mandated boosters. I beat Centrefield too! I got my booster in December. I am determined to ensure that if a bug bites me the bug dies not me!

Omicron surges through your 93.5% vaccinated country. At one point we were told that you couldn't get it or spread it. Now we see, not true. We were told that there are no long term side-effects either, even without long term happening yet. I hope that they/you weren't wrong about that too.
