If they prevented everyone from drinking and driving, Americans would still have between four and five million accidents per year, all from sober drivers.

Uh, what? You have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone bitches about Congress, but re-elect them at a 90%+ rate.

I almost never vote D/R. I'm solidly third party. Anyone, but.

My fellow Americans like the system they have. They don't have to think too hard and they get to bitch about how broken it is.

    Stop!

my plan is to help get this passed, then sell a bypass to the system for big cash. Then, off to Thailand.

I've supported this idea for a long time. I find it incomprehensible that congress passes bills that few if any of the legislators have read.

Once upon a time I worked as a program director for a philanthropic foundation. My job was to make programs happen that the board of directors wanted done. I had proposals from some organizations that were as thick as a ream of paper. I didn't have enough time to read them. I made my awards to organizations with a clear idea of how to do it and how much it would cost that explained things simply and efficiently. I was never impressed with those whose grant proposals were intended to impress me with their erudition. I just wanted a clear, concise, sensible plan and a reasonable budget. The board seemed pleased with every one of them. They had to read the recommended winning grants just like I did.

Congress normally has an approval rating below 20%. It goes to show you how effective it is to govern a country through a political lens.

But the unvaccinated are not the ones who protect you from a virus. If you get vaccinated, then that protects you. Why are you obsessed with the unvaccinated??

Some of this stuff may come if we have another wave of new infections.

The unvaccinated keep the virus circulating, damaging the economy. My P100 respirator protects me from covid. My vaccinations, too.
They're wrecking the economy and taking up hospital space.

The virus is spread by those vaccinated and unvaccinated. The economy is never shut down due to the unvaccinated, haven't a clue where you heard that crazy idea.

I have both Astra Zeneca shots, but I've declined the booster. I couldn't give two hoots if someone chooses to get vaccinated or not. I only got the shots to keep her indoors happy, she wouldn't shut up.

Who said anything about shutting down the economy? People who don't want to get the virus the unvaccinated continue spreading stay away from services provided in "places with faces"--restaurants, clubs, bars, gyms, hotels, cruise ships, planes, etc.--and spend money on Chinese goods (up 25%). The unvaccinated are damaging the economy. The more they keep new covid case numbers high, the more people stay away.
So, you want the Darwin Award?

It's people like you that spread disinformation, and fake news. All you can do is regurgitate tripe and try to insult people because you feel you need to be above them on some kind of invisible hierarchy.

It's as simple as stealing a car. Ignition interlocks are easily defeated by circumvention devices. (You think I can't build a machine that simulates a human blowing into a tube?) Easier still is a simple microprocessor that outputs the appropriate signal to the ECU that the test was passed.

I agree about cars broadcasting data. I also agree about the slippery slope that allows the government free access to this data. Misuse of this data doesn't need to be limited to speed and position. Your car is a whole mess of input and output processing. Didn't click in your seatbelt? Your car knows. Got a tail light out? It's in the data. Your backup camera saw you blow that red light, and your passenger seat knows you picked up a 130 lb passenger on the corner of suck and blow.

People with trouble parsing word salad.

How does an unvaccinated person go about replacing a stay in a hotel, a cruise, or a air travel with Chinese goods? You know, I need to visit family in another state, but this bamboo bathmat, bro.

Better still, how does a vaccinated person replace Chinese goods with air travel? Honey, we're all out of spoons. Better call United!

Prove it by citing "disinformation" or "fake news" I provided. You won't because your claim is BS.
We'll see if you step up with anything but nonsense.

The same way a vaccinated person avoids "a hotel, a cruise, or air travel with Chinese goods." They spend their money on goods rather than on services they believe put them at too much risk of catching covid.
Buy air tickets instead foreign goods.

    Do you understand now?

The same way? Aren't you arguing that it's different?

The Chinese are selling a bamboo bathmat that flies? Do I still get a half a can of coke, a nipper of JD and a bag of Sun chips? I think you're missing my point about utility.

You're attempting to argue that the value of goods shifted upward and services shifted downward as a result of a recalibration of opportunity cost differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated groups. However, it should be obvious that the unvaccinated group perceives different risk than the vaccinated group. If the demand for services fell without any change in the need for services you really need to look elsewhere for the cause. For example, I would place a smidge of blame on travel bans for the decline in air travel and hotel stays; a policy to which an unvaccinated person would likely shout, "stop telling me what I can't do" in your face over.

Spending is spending. An unvaccinated person might skip travel because they prefer to wait for when everything will be open again. We used to fly into London regularly, but I'm not interested in missing out on things I like to do.
I'm looking at demand without considering vaccinated and unvaccinated demand separately. There is reduced demand for services delivered in "places with faces."
    Generally, yes. So what?
Very few services have a highly inelastic demand.
Travel bans have an impact, but demand is down otherwise.
