It was in reply to America not doing any colonization. While the US government did not you had companies like the American Rubber Company as the defacto law in large swaths of countries in Africa and central and south america. As such they were what most would consider colonists.

 

Which would make them all a great deal smarter than the average criminal IMPOTUS supporter who believes that bovine excrement about them.

 

IQ tests are notoriously inaccurate which is why some states ban them in schools. If you want proof my lowest score growing up was 145 with a high of 172. Most Congolese speak a minimum of 3 languages and being multi-lingual is common throughout Africa. I also have a former student that finishes his masters in IT at a large US University this year and is weighing offers to do his PhD at Harvard or the University of Chicago on full boat scholarships. Not bad for a kid that grew up in a house made of mud bricks with a dirt floor. Opportunity is the key factor. I opened a door for him and he ran through.

The people on the continent have suffered horrendous governments more so than most. First the slave traders exploiting the greed of the powerful then the colonists who had guns at their back to exploit the labor. Finally after gaining independence the more strategic countries to the powers had puppet governments installed by the Soviets or the US and Europe. A good example of all this is the history of the Congo. Slavery? Check. First a personal property of King Leopold II of Belgium and exploited by European and American companies. Next taken over by the Belgian government for "humanitarian reasons" to reestablish law and order to address the excesses of those companies. Things like cutting off children's hands and feet if their parents didn't collect their rubber quota for the day. The native population decreased by 40-70% during this time. Finally independence but the West wasn't finished with the Congo. They didn't like the freely elected Lumumba and backed Mobutu in a coup and then assassinated Lumumba so he couldn't reappear. Mobutu was not a nice man despite being called a good Christian by Diamond Pat Robertson who lobbied for him. The Congo was important to them because it has mineral resources out the yin yang and borders 9 countries. Only now is the Congo and other countries emerging from their histories.

 

Do you know what drove European innovation? War. Because they were so constantly at war they developed the tools of the trade and then chose to use them on people who didn't. Trump just visited the Taj Mahal. Europeans called the Indians heathen brutes that built that. Why?

Well morons would, and as I said the practice died for economic reasons shortly after WWII. No rebellion was needed as the company simply pulled up stakes and left. Leaving economic devestation in it's wake.That devestation no doubt played a role in the rebellion that eventually drove the Belgians out of the country. Note at the time the country was called the Belgian Congo not the Dupont Congo

Sadly, in spite of the Congo being one of the most mineral rich countries in the world, the people are poorer now than they were in the days of Dupont as various factions and war lords continue to war over ever diminishing spoils.

 

Nope. Borders define countries, which are separated through culture, law, religion, policy.
