Is relied on Reuters. Did the UK press get it all wrong?

EWN/Reuters, 'VIOLENT SCOURGE' ON LONDON STREETS AS MURDER FIGURES OVERTAKE NEW YORK, A 17-year-old girl died after she was found with gunshot wounds in Tottenham, north London, and a man was fatally stabbed in south London on Sunday., 4/3/18.

    How about CNN?

"(CNN)Acid attacks are a very particular type of cruelty. Assailants typically approach their victims and throw some cocktail of corrosive chemicals on them, burning their flesh, disfiguring their faces and bodies and causing excruciating pain. They are rarely fatal, but all it takes is a few seconds and a splash to derail a life."

CNN,There were more than 450 acid attacks in London last year, By AJ Willingham and Muhammad Darwish, Fri July 14, 2017.

Look back and learn that the majority of gun deaths are suicides and when you account for certain "inconvenient" demographic groups the gun violence rate in the US is actually less than western Europe.

We now have a Big Bad Government culture - not a gun culture. Few Americans own guns because of any fondness for guns. They own guns because they need them, and they need to be empowered to start carrying them.

When enough people are armed there will be peace on the streets. Gun control kills.
Again - has a deer ever jumped in front of your car?

So why are there so man violent criminals in this country??? Mental health issues?? Failing Mental health system?? Failing educational system??

Of course there is a gun culture in this country. There are more guns than there are people........ folks love to discuss guns .........even on here......... and are proud to own them. Folks are more afraid of losing their "right " to gun ownership.............than they are of all these shootings..........and tragedies.

Ho w many of these young kids have fallen through the cracks??........... kids that have displayed signs of behavior problems..........but were ignored or just disciplined...........without looking into ti further. seems that it would be imperative to have psychologists available in all schools..........so that issues can be caught earlier. (long before a kid blows up like this) If the parents are ill equipped to see that their kids are troubled.............then the teachers have to e on alert.

Violent crime is relatively risk free unless the criminals encounter another criminal.
The targets of violent crime are almost always helpless.

If the parents violated a specific statute and the prosecutors can prove it they should charge them.
    That is their job.

I’m saying this out of honest curiosity. I wonder if any of these kids that have committed a school shooting has passed a hunters safety course? The reason I wonder this is because courses like that help instill safety with guns. They iterate what can happen and also show the joy guns can bring rather than just death.

In other words I wonder if their enthusiasm for guns is being misplaced by the an ill intent. If they were taught to hunt or to even go to a competitive clay shoot maybe they would find that to be a sufficient use of guns that their minds may never even dabble in acts like this.

Hunting is not nearly as popular in the US as it used to be.

Yet when it was popular, you didn’t have stuff like this. I graduated in 2000. We used to have shotguns on the rear window rack of our trucks. We all had access to guns and none of this ever happened.

When criminals knew there was a good chance they would be gunned down in the act there was less crime.

Of course there is........(a weapons culture) Weapons are an integral part of the collective mindset........

When there is an incident like this..........their solution is MORE WEAPONS..........

There seems to be little consideration of the contributing societal factors.......... an d societal / system deficiencies . They would rather politicize the situation, play the blame game..............as opposed to doing some serious introspection.........and evaluation of underlying causes.

Hi all, new here but I have a thought as to why we see school shootings more frequently than before. This is just my opinion but I believe it has a lot to do with bullying. 35 years ago when I was a young teen, if someone was bullying you, you could break their nose, get sent to the office, tell the principal that this person was bullying you and that they would not leave you alone, then the principal might call your parents. Swift justice and a hard lesson learned for the bully but it often solved the problem. Nowadays, if a kid gets in a fight, the school calls the police or the onsite school resource officer and both parties to the fight are punished regardless of how it started. Someone being bullied normally just wants to be left alone and now has to face possible legal troubles if he simply tries to defend himself from the bully so he simply takes it and takes it until he snaps. Chronic bullying of a child changes their mentality and as we see, sometimes it turns to murder. I'm not in any way defending the actions of this kid, I'm simply saying that we have to stop blaming the guns which are simply the tool and start addressing the root of the problem. Zero tolerance policies do not work and that is what we have in schools today. We need to make bullying a crime with a punishment that would deter such behavior so that would be bullies aren't given free reign to cause the victim such mental trauma. Some kids have thicker skin and just deal with it but others don't. It's kind of exhausting watching something like this happen and the bully gets to disappear into the limelight acting like the victim. Maybe we should find out who bullied this kid and blast him all over national media too. I bet he would never bully anyone else again. Just my $.02

I think laws concerning automobile use have set many bad precedents, and it's definitely a mistake to try to carry over that same logic into other areas.

The type of thing you are talking about really depends on the age of the child. There's a certain age when the child has to be seen as responsible for what he does and you can't put the blame on the parents. (Oh, and I really don't think this preceding statement should be taken out of context)

If parents hand their child a spoon, and that child kills another child with it, are the parents to blame?
If a parent hands their child a baseball bat and that child kills another child with it, are the parents to blame?
How about a pocket knife? A single shot rifle? You see how it can get really hard to draw the line here.
Add into this that some children are much more responsible than others, and a few children are even like animals. There's not really a one size fits all.

    Lolwut?

Have your "contributions" been reduced to just making crap up?:bored:

Fully expecting you to disown this comment and not face up to the self-own of the Utterly Egregious BS that you just posted.
    An all too familiar pattern.

    Once again, Your "Claim":

"the majority of gun deaths are suicides"

    The FACTS:

Gun-related deaths are tragically common. In 2019 alone, more than 250,000 people died as a result of firearms worldwide. Nearly 71% of gun deaths were homicides, about 21% were suicides, and 8% were unintentional firearms-related accidents.

    https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/gun-deaths-by-country

    ___________

Since WHEN did "about 21%" become "the majority"?

    Is that the New Math?:roflol::bored:

Thanx for the Rock Solid Info...:bored:

Aren't you cute. The majority of gun deaths in the USA is from suicide. Your statistic includes 3rd world countries with piss poor governments (at best). In fact according to your own link the USA doesn't even make the top 10 list of homicide gun deaths.

But then again, you KNEW that he was talking about gun deaths in the US. But you wanted to play partisan.
