Hmm not sure how that was implied. I was just pointing out that Trump did in fact support the vaccine. He also Did so before the current leaders in now. If Trump didn’t listen to the experts he likely would not have supported the vaccine.

Without the warp speed program, you wouldn't have a vaccine even now. It doesn't matter how many companies had it in trial. They wouldn't be able to use it for another 6-8 years.

I think you missed my point. But, I'm too tired to get into it.

The issue is most employment handbooks and policies includes "other duties as assigned." Employers get out of paying Unemployment Insurance by making the workplace so hostile that their target resigns. The up side, right now, is that employers are hurting for employees so those that refuse the toxic work environment will probably have somewhere to go.

However, with the variants, vaccine hesitancy and other factors, we will never reach herd immunity and that will mean civil unrest among us. Only time will tell which side will claim victory, but, right now, nobody should be dusting off their tuxedo to take the prize.

I'm against making refusing vaccination illegal.

    That is force.

But in the face of an existential threat, reluctantly, I feel that mandates override the issue.

Survival of the species, on the list of priorities, is above individual rights.

That being said, science must have a consensus on the concept that the virus poses an existential threat.

As I understand it, they do.

I would never force a rape victim to have or not have her rapists baby, no one should - only she can choose

Science is not a democracy. It doesn't work by consensus. It doesn't care what scientists or politicians think. It works by repeatable results through factual inquiry. A disease with a 99.8% survival rate is hardly an existential threat. But the politicians have convinced enough people that it is to turn a global pandemic into a global panic. Keep enough people afraid and they will do what you tell them to do. Never let a good crisis go to waste as Rahm Emmanuel cynically barked...

Science is saying the virus poses an existential threat. Every existential threat starts off as a seed in size. The entire point is to nip it in the bud before it happens.

700,000 + dead in America So your .2% death rate doesn't convey the gravity of the threat.

    Policy/politics, must work by consensus.

    Sorry.

Not "science." Scientists. And some say the exact opposite. Again, natural immunity - well before the drug companies got involved due to Trump's decisive action - kept the death toll extremely low. We have our own embedded vaccines - some of us have better ones than others. But the human species has survived 100,000 years at least, the first 999,500 of them with hardly any medical science let alone vaccines. To call this an existential threat is preposterous. The moon crashing into the Earth... that's an existential threat.

    Ridiculous. Propaganda. Fear porn.

That's what your immune system is for

My death rate? LOL. Try science. And those numbers are hardly accurate. The government admitted to padding the books. We have no idea what the real number is.

    1. You moved the goalposts.
    2. There is hardly a policy consensus so I have no idea what you're talking about.

    For what?

Arguably many got it because they wanted it. I got it as soon as it became available. Had both doses. My reaction to the second dose prompts me to be disinclined to take a third hit. As do increasing reports of break through cases.

Without Warp Speed, we would be far better off than we are now. 8 friends and acquaintances of mine would probably still be alive.

They wanted it because they had been scared silly for a year by incessant fear porn propaganda.

    Humans are easy to manipulate.

They were made fearful over a virus with a 99% survival rate. Fear mongering in the modern age.

Are you saying you personally know eight people who were killed by the vaccine?

Yep there were some who did and that isn't right. There were some however at the same woke place who we're more than willing to get it.

I get a flu shot every year never mind that the flu has almost no chance to kill me. I just don't want to deal with the side effects, since I'm my wife's primary care taker.

I understand. I strongly support the notion of "my body, my choice".

For whatever reason, I have a very suspicious mind, always have had, and I don't trust politicians and bureaucrats at all. They are necessary evils IMO.

I was raised in a drug store, and my father was an MD. My early years were in a medical environment.

I don't take the flu shots, never have. My body, my choice. Over the years, numerous friends of mine who took the flu shot would still get the flu. I never saw the point, but it's a person's choice.

I don't see the point in taking a dangerous experimental drug for a virus that is 99% survivable. Now in the 12th month of it being used, we have huge amounts of data. My suspicions were well founded. :peace:

To my mind there is no dangerous situation on earth that cannot be made worse by the application of more bureaucrats and crazy people.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds. It will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they recover their senses slowly, and one by one. So sayeth Charles Mackay two centuries ago.

These last two years have shown that not much changes in human behavior.

"Give me Liberty, or give me death..." Guess you're not a fan of Patrick Henry, eh? Or "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"? Sure, it might not be the brightest idea to not get the vax (I myself am going for my 3rd dose in about an hour), but it's the right of free men (and of course women) to not always take the brightest path.

Or do you simply not agree with individual Liberties in the first place, and if not, why pray tell are you still living here, in the land of the free, and the home of the brave?
