My statement was anything but personal and offered my opinion on the decision process. I think people were stupid when voting for Obama with their decision based wholly on the color of his skin. I can have that opinion all day long. So Mr. Physician, tell me how so many people who are fully vaccinated are now dying from Covid? Used to be one or two break-through cases, but now it is much greater than that and the numbers continue to climb. And back to my point, 81,000,000 voted in the Failure in Chief who promised to win the battle on the pandemic. Biden has proven himself worthless, his administration is worthless, his VP is worthless, and the country pays the price. And if you are such a believer in the vaccine, then you should thank Donald Trump for his push to make it happen in record time. You're welcome!

They're smart enough to only target small businesses and to leave multinational corporations alone, THAT's for sure.... ;) ;) ;) ;)

Look at my posting history. By coincidence, the very post I've just posted, was to praise Trump and Operation Warp Speed, something I always did.

As for why now people are dying although vaccinated, there are many biological reasons for it. I don't have a lot of time to explain now, I'm finishing my break and I have to go back to work. But basically, what is happening is that these vaccines protect for a while, several months, but then the neutralized antibodies titers fall. We vaccinated sequentially, starting with the most frail, old, and infirm people. So those who are 9-10 months from their basic vaccination are the most fragile patients. Also, if they catch a breakthrough infection, it means their immune system is not very competent. So it's a pre-selected population of weak immunity, for whom even a booster may not be the solution (which is why I posted many times advocating for more monoclonal antibodies for this population). Still, while the percentage of new cases and new hospitalizations and deaths for fully vaccinated people is growing (and that's not unexpected), if you plot this to the denominator, that is, to the full number of vaccinated people (which will also include those with more competent immune systems), the percentage is still very tiny, under 1% last time I checked. Also, the Delta variant changed the stakes (we'll see if the Omicron one changes them too; not a given, at this point).

Again, my reasons to vote against Trump are numerous and at this time I don't feel like detailing each one; it would be a long page. But I can tell you this: I am indeed disappointed in the Biden Administration.

Additional info, the traveller flew from South Africa to California on Nov 22nd, and was confirmed Omicron positive Nov 29. Said traveller has mild symptoms, and is fully vaccinated.

Based on current observations I think it would be in our interest to not let this variant fizzle out. In all the cases I have heard about every case has shown mild symptoms, vaccinated or unvaccinated

We are going to have another year of fighting Covid-19 after the delta variant died away. Covid vaccines are generally ineffective against B.1.1.529 with more than 30 mutations. Most confirmed cases outside Africa involve patients who have been vaccinated twice.

Hopefully, but this is not yet a given. We'll see.

If reports of mild cases are confirmed, it may not be a huge problem. Also, we may have approved antivirals like the one Pfizer has made (Paxlovid), which in preliminary studies looks very promising.

We'll have a better idea what this is going to do in comparable populations soon enough. It is spreading in Europe. Give it a few weeks, maybe a month, and we will start to get some solid data in populations with similar health & vaccination profiles to our own. Hopefully it is mild enough that it doesn't require any significant restrictive measures or cause many deaths.

Second US case in Minnesota, a young man who only traveled recently to New York City, no relationship with Southern African countries. Therefore, there is already community spread of Omicron in the United States. Fully vaccinated man, got symptoms on 11/22, got tested on 11/24, mild case, symptoms have already resolved.

The unvaccinated cannot fly from SA so it's hardly surprising to see that a passenger on a plane flying from SA is vaccinated!

Not what I said.... I asked "I thought this was a pandemic of the unvaccinated??"

Obviously, given these examples of vaccinated people contracting and spreading "Omicron variant" to other vaccinated people, vaccinated people are STILL contracting and spreading COVID all the same as unvaccinated people are, so how does it make any sense at all to demonize unvaccinated people and to put numerous restrictions on them when the contracting and spreading situation is no different for vaccinated people??

Thus, the restrictions ARE NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT ABOUT HEALTH...... Rather, they are solely about POLITICAL COMPLIANCE with the "6uild 6ack 6etter" "new world order".... Can you not see this??

Excellent point. I knew that anti-vaxxers would try to cash in when these international passengers proved to be vaccinated. I made the point in a previous thread. Duh, most countries require proof of vaccination for international air travel, so of course those people are vaccinated. And yes, we know that Omicron has the capacity to infect vaccinated people. So, yes, we'll see vaccinated people getting Omicron when they are tested as international arrivals. The important thing to know, though, is if vaccinated people will be dying of Omicron.

No one is dying from it and it's been around for nearly a month that they know of.

Cheaper yes, effective no. Studies show this.

    UP badly
Death Count In 24 UP Districts 43 Times More Than Official Covid-19 Toll — Article 14 (article-14.com)

    Japan better.
Japan had no COVID-19 deaths 1st time in 15 months - ABC News (go.com)
"Nationwide cases started falling in September. Experts have attributed the decline to vaccination progress as well as widespread mask wearing and use of disinfectants, among other reasons. Vaccinations in Japan, despite a slow start, accelerated in June, and now nearly 74% of the population is fully immunized. The government plans to begin booster shots in December and also secure newly developed COVID-19 medicines."

Fairly poor vaccination rate in UP. Fairly good one in Japan. Wonder no more.

    No they don't.

Uttar Pradesh has effectively no COVID cases, let alone deaths. UP is doing VERY well.

Japan is down to about 100 cases per day. It is not because of vaccination.

Nope... Many highly vaccinated countries have cases up their ass. Gibraltar is one of them.

Japan has gone far beyond vaccines (78% vaccination rate so far). Its funny how you oppose the measure in US while praising more extreme measures elsewhere.

"TOKYO/FUKUOKA, Japan, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Japan on Tuesday extended its state of emergency in Tokyo and other regions and announced new measures covering seven more prefectures to counter a spike in COVID-19 infections that is threatening the medical system."

"For the time being, foreign nationals who have stayed in any of the following 159 countries/regions within 14 days prior to the application for landing are denied to enter Japan in pursuant to the Article 5, paragraph (1), item (xiv) of Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, unless special exceptional circumstances are found."

What "measure" am I opposing? What "extreme measures" am I supporting??
