Looks like Republicans are getting ready for 2022

Ex-KKK Leader Running as Republican for Office in Georgia
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/e...n-for-office-in-georgia/ar-AARrMBv?li=BBnbfcL
Chester Doles—a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, the neo-Nazi National Alliance and the racist skinhead Hammerskins gang—is running in 2022 for a seat on the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners in Georgia.

Doles, 61, served four years in prison starting in 1993 after he and a fellow KKK member beat a Black man in Maryland. He served another four years in 2003 for federal firearms charges. He has claimed "misunderstandings or extenuating circumstances" in each conviction, The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported.

He is a supporter of Republican former President Donald Trump and, like Trump, opposes Black Lives Matter (BLM) and the alleged teaching of critical race theory (CRT) in schools. CRT is a field of study that analyzes race and racism as social dynamics throughout history.

I don't really have a problem with this. As long as he meets all the criteria to run for public office it is within the right to do so. Unless you propose to change the rules and no longer allow anyone with a conviction to run for office I really see no reason to disqualify him. Being a member of the KKK may be disgusting but it is not illegal and there certainly are no laws against people with racist views running. I would have more issues with trying to put policies in place to stop him.

I think the key is would anyone vote for this guy. He is running on the platform that it is inevitable the US will break up and he wants to be in place to emerge as a leader once that happens. I think having a politician believe this is a much bigger problem. Even if he thought the US was heading towards break up, his stance should be I will work towards policies where that will not happen. I work work to keep America together and keep it strong. Instead he want to reserve a seat at the table after the apocalypse. Anyone who hears that and thinks it is a great idea to vote for this guy deserves him.

I'm OK with it...if he really is EX-KKK. A lot of ex-KKK Democrats were elected and re-elected over the years, after all. America is a forgiving country, a land of second chances.

Well,we know he would have stupid Xoes vote if Xoe could. Xoes been a long long time supporter of KKK members.
I don’t see R’s supporting him o voting for him. Oh, you might get the occasional nut jobs, just like a Vlack racist would get blm and antifa votes.

I do not know Biden's history of support for the KKK but he is an old man from a generation where racist views were much more common so I would not be surprise if it was true. I remember when my grandparents were alive they said some pretty racist things too. I think it has something to do with the generation's mentality. Is see a lot of old boomers on this forum use childish name calling all the time.

And yet, Biden, an ex-KKK supporter was elected President in 2020.

Here is a list of ex-KKK Democrats (and at least one Republican) who were elected and re-elected for decades both before and after the Civil Rights era.

According to the article, they are pretty evenly split, so "at least one Republican" is a little misleading. The KKK had a pretty significant presence in my home town. They were universally anti-left. But I do agree that, so long as this guy has reformed, I don't have any issue with him running.

Like I said it does not surprise me. The guy is older than dirt. This is why I keep on saying stop voting for old people.

The KKK years were a very ugly part of our history. Thank God they represent only a fringe group now.

Oh, I agree with that. The older generation (over 70 maybe) should make way for younger talent. I'm 75 BTW

It seems we are on record with GOP voters being ok with having KKK represent them.

I really don't know much about him, and I can't even find his campaign page. But is he CURRENTLY a KKK member or the member of any other white nationalist group? If not, then I put him in the same category as Robert Byrd, whom I've repeatedly defended against GOP propaganda.

What is interesting - nay, telling - is that this self-proclaimed 4th generation Klansman feels that the GQP is the pathway to electoral victory in 2021...

Why all the concern about KKK now? Are you concerned about the CSA too? Get with the times!! We have BLM and Antifa!! They are the contemporary racists!
