So lets take a look at results. I live in a sanctuary state that offers incentives to immigrate illegally. Please educate these sleepy trump supporters by showing how workers in California are better off as a result of illegal immigration.

Any wage increase is offset by inflation and imported labor that depresses wages gemerally.

We need to end the labor shortage. And ending the labor shortage whether through immigration or other means will reduce labor because the demand for labor will be down. This is a good thing because we will be more productive and there will be more things to go around so real buying power will be up.

Despite what anti-capitalist fringe groups tell you, the economics on immigration, like any other form of trade, is positive.

I am only discussing results; not what I am being told. Can you answer the question?

You didn't ask me a question. Hell, you weren't even talking about discussing ACTUAL economic results, only personal feelings.

    I did:

Please educate these sleepy trump supporters by showing how workers in California are better off as a result of illegal immigration.

    I will rephrase:

Can you educate these sleepy trump supporters by showing how workers in California are better off as a result of illegal immigration?

Reduce government spending. It is the only solution. There has never been another one.

We do need to end the labor shortage. Since about 40% of the country sits on their asses and collects checks....instead of working....the obvious best course of action is means testing and drug testing for welfare.

We you cut out the fraud, you'd be surprised how many people are willing to take those jobs the left says they won't take. Work or starve, it's a simple choice. I'm good with either.

Additionally I'd replace long-term welfare with education funding for low-income people. But welfare was around even before this labor shortage. Here are some other reasons for the shortage:
    1. During the pandemic many people had the chance to re-evaluate their lives and careers. Many decided to quit and find other jobs, others returned to school to pursue something else, some travel, others retired, and others are focusing on childcare.
    2. Many can't re-enter the workforce because daycare options are more limited now.
    3. Due to wage increases and the labor shortage. Many have dropped out of the workforce to get better jobs.
    4. The previous stimulus packages put a lot of money in people's pockets and the savings rate is much higher now. People have a lot more cash to sit on to look for another job or drop out of the workforce at least temporarily.
    5. Because people stayed indoors more during the pandemic, they spent less and saved more naturally.
    6. There is a skills gap, so many high skill occupations don't have enough qualified candidates.
    7. Wage growth and benefits haven't improved much in the past few decades while costs have skyrocketed and this period is a bit of a reset where workers won't take bad jobs anymore. Workers will return if they get a better deal.

A 2020 CBO report says that "Among people with less education, a large percentage are foreign born. Consequently, immigration has exerted downward pressure on the wages of relatively low-skilled workers who are already in the country, regardless of their birthplace.”

So immigration makes poor people poorer.

We need some immigrants to do jobs Americans don't want to do. But who said they have to be illegal? Why can't we bring them in on a five year work permit? The thing is, they are doing much more than working farms, restaurants and hotels. They are working factories, home building, construction, truck drivers, roofers, lawn care and etc. They are working Blue Collar jobs, jobs millions of Americans need.We have millions of Americans who have a prison record, who got pregnant or to help the family quit school. We have Americans that have little to no skills, etc. We call them Blue Collar workers and these illegals take those jobs away from them. They hold down wages to companies like construction and home building that are unionized. That hurts everyone. We used to require those on welfare to work I think at least 20 hours a week. Why aren't we doing that anymore?
