As the Delta wave of COVID-19 continues to decline from its mid-September peak in Washington state, many people are concerned about the declining efficacy of the three approved vaccines from the Food and Drug Administration. The government has authorized “at risk” patients to begin getting a booster shot of any of the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson and Johnson vaccines.

Yet an estimated 745,000 Washington citizens have already recovered from COVID-19 according to the Washington Department of Health (DOH). Their body has successfully fought the virus and has developed not only antibodies, but B and T cell lymphocytes to provide a defense should the individual encounter the virus again.

I am still trying to work out how the virus knows if someone is vaccinated

 

So far I haven't been able to find an article from the UK government Office for National Statistics that supports the contention in the media. However, it is a fact that England does have a high vaccination rate (70.7% fully vaccinated with over 45% that have received a booster shot) and that it also has a high omicron infection rate.

Remember what happened about 3 days ago when trump revealed he had gotten a booster shot. The story about the triple vaxxed being 4.5 times more likely to test positive for omicron than the untaxed came out the next day. That story was picked up almost verbatim by assorted blogs and news agencies.

The latest blurb is that about 60% of us will have gotten the virus by March.

Now remember, it is acknowledged that so far the omicron version is less deadly at this time although it seems to be more contagious.

Throw in the outright anti-vaxxers and the other nuts and who can you trust, if anyone?

As for me, I have had 2 shots and intend on getting my first booster in another 40 days or so and additional boosters as long as able. At some point I may get infected but as long as it doesn't kill me I will be able to look forward from dying from another cause.

 

It's been my observation that medicines have the undesirable effect of causing all kinds of other medical conditions although they are designed to cure a specific condition. Therefore, you might have a nuisance medical condition and take a medicine that might even kill you or damage your otherwise healthy organs. Every time you see a tv commercial for a medicine they ramble off a list of possible side effects, most of which are worse than the targeted condition. Nothing is completely safe for everyone.

From what I see, triple vaccinated people are more careless than the not vaccinated. That could explain at least some of the data.

Yes, I know the new variant seems to be more contagious than the original and the Delta. But the discussion was about the claim that the triple-vaccinated are more likely to catch the new Omicron variant. There's obviously no proof.

 

Not sure about the triple vaxed ...not sure about the "More Likely" -- but the double vaxed seem just as likely.
