The gods at Fedex decided to send my Christmas gift for someone due to be delivered today to a city with the same name in another freaking state. Looks like someone is getting a printout of what they were supposed to get instead of the gift on the 25th. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be a street with the same name in that city so I guess it will get here eventually.

I am about at 30% of things shipped here getting lost.. some of the bigger items i am sure that whoever bid on the delivery had no idea where we are (one way trip for at least 60 miles)

First time this has happened for me. I mean I have had deliveries delayed by a day but never one that was lost in the nebulous. Happened to our work payroll once. They just sent us replacements that got here a few days after payday. The originals showed up like 6 weeks later but UPS always knew where they were. Their system just kept randomly sending the checks all over God's creation until they finally ended up here. I think they said they were misdirected to UPS facilities in 13 or 14 states before it was said and done. Apparently their system doesn't handle misdirected shipments well, or at least used not to at the time, and I think they had a holiday and a blizzard both in the area where they originated the day after they were generated.

We do not have home delivery by the USPS.. and many shippers will snd to a Box number OR a physical address but yoy can't use both AND the USPS will send it back if the PO Bx number is not on it (even tho' they know exactly were my box is (small town stuff) but apparently it's USPS policy.. sooooo we put the phsical address and slip th ePO Bx (which we CAN NOT call a "PO BX" into the address .. I usually call the PO Bx # a "suite" # . and if the authoritarian/totalitrain post mistress is not on, the other girl WILL get it into my box.. likewise the UPS driver does not leave any of the "surepost" at the PO Office (it's a combo UPS USPSendeavor) because teh PO Mistress will send that back, I mean if you go to the desk and ask for it, she will tell you she has already sent it back. Most everything I get UPS/USPS "sure post" sends a message to my email stating that my package was undeliverable. I check the back porch of my house (which is not listed in any of my shipping addresses, I use my office phsical address for that) because the UPS dude (I have a superstition of learning th eUPS drivers' names because they'll be transfered shortly there after) know where my residence is (small town stuff again)

Traffic is moving smoothly across the border! wonder if the Border officials have found a faster way to move people across. or if it is still too early, or if perhaps, the border croassers themselves have staggered their crossing dates (which is what we did, we wen down to Cd, Chihuahua last weekend to avoid the lines at the crossing)

Ok .. just checked.. one delivery for an order made Dec 2nd, claims it will arrive by Dec 27th, and another placed on Dec 4th claims it will arrive between the 24th and the 28th.. It'll get here when it gets here if it doesn't get sent back for "not able to make delivery" LOL

Been thinking about a floor for my daughter's bedroom. It has a hole in it with a piece of plywood over it. I am thinking about oak or poplar. Poplar is a pretty wood but soft. Oak is hard and very durable. It is also harder to work and harder on tools. I am going to cut a hole in the carpet to see what I got. If I have a good subfloor....except the hole in the corner I can just nail it down.

Merry Christmas everyone! I started working on the pallet wood floor. I don't want it to look like pallet wood. I am going to use a mix of poplar and oak. I have some planks ready to go. I don't have a thickness planer or joiner so I am careful about thickness. After the wood is released from the pallet I take a flap disk to clean the wood up and bring out the grain. Then I go over it with my palm sander. I use either 36 grit or 60 grit on the flap disk. Course on the palm sander. Then I rip the first side of the flooring with my table saw. I use the straightest side of the board against the fence opposite the blade. After those are ripped and my pattern marked I rip the other side using the smooth side as a guide. The boards match up pretty well. I plan to glue and nail them to the subfloor. Then sand the finish floor.

Sitting my triple jabbed butt home alone on xmas day thanks to a COVID Mary co-worker who knew they were sick, suspected they had COVID showing up to the office Xmas dinner anyway this week as to not miss their free Filet Mignon and then tested positive the next day. WTF is wrong with people that they would do that just for a free meal. Anyway, I am not chancing exposing my family despite my jabs as I had an intense headache all day yesterday that just wouldn't go away and that can be one of the symptoms.

That's actually a work order at my job. One of few full service mechanics garages and gas stations around.

    We stay very busy.

That's so selfish. I wonder how many other family Christmases your co-worker ruined.
I tested myself every day for a week before deciding whether to see my frail mother today.

Yawns I am out of nap capacity and out of tolerance for xmas singing on TV. I may need to listen to some speed metal or something to exorcise my angst....
Hope you all have a good one. Drink some nog for me.

The view from My front porch looking West, just passed that roof in that sunset there's a giant cow pasture and woods and the Peace River and from where I'm sitting you can hear the cattle lowing off in the distance.

We live in a little neighborhood but it's out in the county.

But a nice distance because it's a small City Walmart's only about 4 MI away.

Just far enough to be out in the county but not so far that you got to drive 20 miles to a store.

To the east of me is a very large Orange Grove IMG_20211225_172951_3.jpg

Its amazing how little some people care about others.
I hope you are alright. Sorry you couldn't be with your family this Christmas.

It is a little messed up but I suppose with the crazy back and forth weather (20's at night last week 70's high today) one could rationalize their symptoms as something else. So far other than the bad headache yesterday (which could also be due to the schizophrenic weather) I feel generally fine today. I did at least spend some quality time talking to a bee I saw on the chinese cabbage blooms in my garden. It is unusual but not unheard of to have bees come back out when we have one of these winter hot spells. Heck a plant on my front porch wall that I thought had given up the ghost but I hadn't tossed in the compost yet started blooming today as well. Think I heard somewhere it is supposed to be back cold later next week. I'll wait and see if I can get tested maybe Tuesday and at least reclaim New Years.

TBH I am a little more concerned for an antivaxer coworker whose mother in her 80's lives with him. I pray to god he didn't carry COVID into his house. I will text him tomorrow or Monday to see if he is symptomatic. In the mean time, I will just clean and nap---mostly the latter.
