what these people are showing is why you can't be soft on crime

This woman isn't untouchable. She will be arrested if she hasn't been already and she will go to prison. She's not getting away with this. That can't happen. However, what this tells us we have a very serious deficit in our mental health system. No sane person is going to walk through a store with a pick axe to shoplift. First of all, there is no major corporation anywhere in this country that does not have a policy about employee interventions. Unless a person's job is some kind of security or law enforcement, employees are always instructed NOT to engage with an out-of-control customer. In fact, many people have lost their jobs for just that reason.

And, I'm no longer a cop but my bet is she carried the axe just for that purpose. That's not a reasonable thing to do. It's like when stupid witch Susan Smith said she was carjacked and her two toddlers were in car seats in the backseat. I knew the moment she said that on tv she was lying. Kidnappers don't need to take vehicles and car jackers don't want kids. I hated that I was right when it came out that she drowned those babies herself. I've mentioned several times that I don't really watch television and her case was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

And, whatever this axe-wielding genius will try won't work either. The axe was probably just to cop an insanity plea. There is no way in the world she doesn't know every retail establishment that carries pharmaceuticals has cameras everywhere. She might have even done it because she *wants* to be locked up. Some people don't know how to function independently and if they don't have strong family support, the almost always live on the streets and survive by stealing.

Either way, the whole purpose of the topic is to keep spreading love about our fellow Americans. You know, we're all equal and all that jazz.

We support and allow open carrying of a handgun. Shoplifting, while threatening violence with a pick ax would likely not go over too well, either with the police or any citizens being threatened with violence.

These kinds of crimes, aren't really an issue. Because they

1. Happen in broad daylight.
2. Have cameras.
3. It's not hard to track these people down and arrest them later.

and most important of all, nobody got hurt yes? The biggest issue is merchandise got stolen which is harder to recover, but nobody got hurt and that's the most important thing.
