The woman was open carrying her weapon of choice per the 2nd Amendment. No background check or waiting period required. And it wasn't one of those nasty assault rifles that freaks so many people out. Isn't that wonderful?

 

Were you aware that Black people were the only ethnic group that has ever been really wanted in America? There was a whole industry devoted to bringing them here and White people wanted them so much that they were willing to fight several wars to keep them and even die for the privilege of having them in their households. And they were so protective of them during WWII that they wouldn't let them fight the White Nazis who were trying to conquer the world nor would they let them give their precious blood to wounded White American troops.

 

Seemed like she was brandishing, she wanted people to see it.

The video and pictures plainly show the woman walking around with the pickaxe on her right shoulder. At no time in any of the pictures or in the video did she remove the pickaxe from her right shoulder. She did not visibly threaten anyone and the evidence shows that other shoppers were not concerned about her behavior. Thank goodness the Slave Patrollers didn't show up or else they probably would have shot some of the shoppers and employees dead.

 

She was brandishing and stealing at the same time.

By stealing, and brandishing the weapon she was inherently threatening the employees.

She is disgusting as are those who support this type of criminality.

Can you think of why she committed the crime if it's a pretty sure thing that she's going to go to jail?

Arrested, maybe. Jailed? I doubt it. Unless she was stealing incredibly expensive things, the shoplifting charge will be a misdemeanor and these days, generally speaking, CA isn't prosecuting misdemeanors.

But what about the pickaxe, you ask?

I'm glad you asked, what about it? It's almost certainly not classified as a weapon in any CA law, from what I saw (and there may be vids I haven't seen), she was just walking around the store with it casually slung over her shoulder. So, no weapons charge, no brandishing charge. I don't know where to buy a pickaxe, but I'd guess they're readily available, maybe at a Home Depot or some kind of farm supply store, without a background check or anything like that. Did she actually threaten anyone? Not from what I've heard. So, legally speaking, all we've got is a woman carrying a legal object casually flung over her shoulder and committing misdemeanor shoplifting.

Sure, having video of a woman carrying a pickaxe makes excellent click bait, and good TV, but it's a nothingburger when you really examine the law.

 

I can’t say for sure why but I can think of a few reasons.

1. It’s a display of power. She gets to rob a store in broad daylight, and nobody can stop her. That’s pretty domineering and so she feels power from it.
2. It’s a sign of giving up. She is breaking societal norms. So she has power to call out the absurdity of the situation. The lack of coordination with other people supports this.
3.She needs the stuff she stole. People need to eat so hey why not steal it.

Exactly. Enforcing these crimes would further up the percentage of black incarcerated Americans, and that's a problem with systematic racism, not culture.

But, unfortunately, the minority can change the income statement of a store from profit to loss. Perhaps you have noticed that Walgreen has closed thirty some odd stores in San Francisco. They do this because the stores are losing money, not for some social justice reason.
