You Latter day Saints have what I think may be the most brilliant teachings o the State of the Dead that I have encountered in my sixty two years. (I do not know for certain whether or not you are correct or not..... but I do hope that you are)... and I have the impression that your teachings fit astonishingly well with near death experience accounts where somebody meets with a being of light who sure reminds me of Messiah Yeshua - Jesus!

The prophet Alma in the Book of Mormon taught about two divisions or states in the spirit world:
“The spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow.
“And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of the wicked, yea, who are evil—for behold, they have no part nor portion of the Spirit of the Lord; for behold, they chose evil works rather than good; therefore the spirit of the devil did enter into them, and take possession of their house—and these shall be cast out into outer darkness; there shall be weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth, and this because of their own iniquity, being led captive by the will of the devil.
“Now this is the state of the souls of the wicked, yea, in darkness, and a state of awful, fearful looking for the fiery indignation of the wrath of God upon them; thus they remain in this state, as well as the righteous in paradise, until the time of their resurrection” (Alma 40:12–14).
The spirits are classified according to the purity of their lives and their obedience to the will of the Lord while on earth. The righteous and the wicked are separated (see 1 Nephi 15:28–30), but the spirits may progress as they learn gospel principles and live in accordance with them. The spirits in paradise can teach the spirits in prison (see D&C 13."

The Postmortal Spirit World

So how does this topic fit with self reliance and the storage of food you ask? The topic of what happens after we die is of interest to Christians all over the denominational spectrum............. and this could be a topic that unites a high percentage of non Latter day Saints.... .with Latter day Saints..... at least when it comes to discussion of this critical topic.

My wife is a gifted Charismatic Catholic or Pentecostal woman..... who is somewhat fearful when I attend the local ward of the Latter day Saints... so I am highly motivated to attempt to give common ground to Evangelical Christians and Latter day Saints.......

Storage of food is also a topic that can unite Latter day Saints with Evangelical Christians.... frankly.. .you could begin a reality film series led by a high percentage of the members of this group...... and I could meet with Latter day Saints here near Toronto, Ontario.... and I could donate film footage to you that might just turn out to have artistic value, diplomatic value, educational value and yes.... potential economic value?????

I knew two of the most active LDS members of the New Glasgow, N. S. ward who travelled to the temple in Cole Harbour to do baptism for the dead...................... I was truly impressed with what they were doing........... and from NDE accounts I believe that their efforts were amazingly effective for dozens if not hundreds if not thousands of former humans who had gone on into the higher invisible dimensions of space and time....... Self Reliance is a way to reach out to the grandchildren and great, great, great... .great grandchildren of people who they already got baptized for the dead for...... which gives you LDS an exceptionally logical and powerful connection to the souls of the deceased.............. you are trying to help their living grandchildren in the here and the now....... Way to go......

I could be wrong....
I often am....
but over the coming years I believe that geneticists living in Israel will present evidence that indicates that
First Nations Tribes in both South America as well as in North America have some DNA that links them to the Lost Tribes of Israel......

The Ten Lost Tribes: Ecuador

Intensified attention to the subject took place in the 17th century in England. It was all due to the writings of Manasseh Ben Israel, an Amsterdam Rabbi, who convinced Oliver Cromwell to allow the Jews to Return to England after their banishment from that country four centuries previously.

Manasseh was fully convinced of the authenticity of the Sambatyon legend. He wrote in his book that all think that the Ten Tribes dwelled beyond this Sabbatical river. He cites many authorities in support of his belief including the statement of Josephus that Titus himself had seen the river. Later on, after his meetings with a remarkable missionary, the Marrano Jew (Jew who was forced to convert to Christianity in Spain and Portugal), Antonio de Montezinus, he became fully convinced that the American Indians constituted some of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel.

Manasseh heard a very remarkable thing from Montezinus that in 1642 when Montezinus was deep into the mountainous wilderness of Ecuador, he met with four Indians who greeted him with "Shema Israel" which is the traditional creed of Israelites beginning with "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!" (Deuteronomy 6:4). He claimed that he spoke with them in Hebrew and claimed they were from the Lost Tribe of Reuben and Levi.

Through the conversation with Montezinus, Rabbi Manase Ben Israel was convinced that the American Indians were from several tribes of the Lost Tribes of Israel. He wrote on Dec. 23, 1649, in a letter to John Drury, the Puritan divine, "I think the Ten Tribes lived not only there in America, but also in other lands scattered everywhere, these never did come back to the second temple, and they keep to this day still the Jewish religion seeing that all the prophecies which speak of the bringing back into their native soil must be fulfilled."

Menorah Was Found in South America

As for the Indians in South America and the Lost Tribes of Israel, there was an interesting article in a newspaper published in Israel (Maariv, Dec 31, 1974) as follows:

In 1587, a Jesuit Nicholas Delttsu was sent to South America by the king of Spain to convert the Indians. In Argentina, he found a tribe with Hebrew names, Abraham, David, Moshe, etc.. When he asked them if they were circumcised, they answered, "Yes, just as our ancestors." In the same area were found knives of stone used for circumcision. Sharpened stone knives are cited in the Bible as used for circumcision.

Of equal interest is the recent find of a tribe in Argentina related to the Incas of Peru. On a stone tablet were found 3 commandments - "Do not steal." "Do not lie." and "Do not murder." Scholars concluded that these commandments come from the Ten Commandments of Moses but existed hundreds of years before the Spaniards arrived.

And in 1974 in the same area, round stones were found with Hebrew Menorah (candlestick with 7 arms of ancient Israel) on the stone, and on the side is written in Aramaic, Pascha (Passover). Aramaic is an ancient language which ancient Israelites used and this itself means very old.
A few meters away was found a long stone in the shape of a brick with an engraving of a boat (the emblem of Zevulun is ship) with the word Tzipora (the same name as the wife of Moses and one of names of Israelites. The name of the ship?) written on it. Does this mean that they came here on boat? Scholars believe it is 3000 years old.

After the death of King Solomon (d.928 BCE), his realm was divided into the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judea. The territory of the Kingdom of Israel covered most of the central and northern Land of Israel and was inhabited by descendants of ten of the original twelve tribes that conquered the land of Canaan under the leadership of Joshua: Asher, Dan, Ephraim, Gad, Issachar, Manasseh, Naphtali, Reuben, Simeon, and Zebulon. The Ten Tribes either assimilated into other peoples and tribes inside the Assyrian empire or were incorporated into the tribes of Judah and Benjamin, when they too were deported to Babylonia, following the capture of Jerusalem by the Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BCE (Ezekiel: 37:21-23).

The mysterious disappearance of the Ten Tribes of Israel nurtured the belief according to which their location will eventually be discovered and they will return to the Land of Israel, as the ancestors of the modern Jews, the tribes of Judah and Benjamin did when the Babylonian empire was destroyed by the Persians. This belief had its roots in the interpretations of several biblical texts, especially I Chronicles (5:26) and various prophecies (Isaiah 11:11-12, among others) as well some references found in the Apocrypha (II Esdras 13:39-50).

In the 17th century, the myth of the Ten Lost Tribes became a central theme of Sabbatean propaganda – Shabbetai Zvi; the false messiah is depicted as commander of the Ten Tribes. Some Jewish communities sent emissaries to search for the Ten Lost Tribes; other seekers were private individuals who undertook to disclose the place of the Ten Lost Tribes. Of them a special mention should be made of Joseph Israel (1818-1864), a Romanian-born Jewish adventurer and great admirer of Benjamin of Tudela to the extent that he changed his name to Benjamin the Second. Joseph Israel traveled between 1845 to 1859, from Istanbul, Turkey, to Egypt, Syria, Land of Israel, Kurdistan, Mesopotamia, Persia, Afghanistan, India, and after 1859 to North America, searching and inquiring everywhere for the Ten Lost Tribes. Joseph Israel met various Jewish communities and collected valuable information about their way of life and traditions. Among the Jewish communities of Asia, he met of the Bene Israel in India who in Israel’s opinion were descendants of of the Ten Tribes.

Jewish travelers from the Land of Israel that set out in search of the Ten Lost Tribes in the 19th century include Rabbi Baruch of Pinsk, who was murdered in Yemen having left Safed in 1830; Isaac son of Chaim Baruch Halevi (d. 1886) who traveled from Tiberias to India hoping to find the Sambatyon river; Ezekiel Asche, a German-born physician who left Jerusalem in 1848 and disappeared in Ethiopia, having traveled through Egypt and Yemen; and Rabbi Moshe Yaffe of Hebron who disappeared during his second visit to India in 1848.

Many Christians acknowledge that extensive preparations have been made in their churches and communities to shelter Jews in the event of an uptick in anti-Semitism, but very few are willing to speak openly about them.

Mindful of the fact that Christians who hid Jewish families during the Holocaust endangered their own lives and the lives of their family members, out of concern for the safety of those Christians involved, details are hard to pin down.

Breaking Israel News was able to speak to two people, Jeanette Kent (not her real name), a Christian from a state south of the Mason Dixon line and Rabbi Ari Abramowitz of The Land of Israel Network, about this hidden phenomenon.

Kent told Breaking Israel News, “We have been attending group preparations meetings for years, as well as meetings in Israel.

“[Among] the Nations, God has sovereignly called people all over the world to assist in hiding and moving Jews out. That includes varied and multifaceted areas [including] transportation (boats, cars, wagons, trains, etc), housing, food, medical assistance and security.

“There is a network,” she explained, which includes what she called “hubs” covering certain geographic regions. “Wherever God has placed you, you know your hub,” Kent asserted.

“Prophetically we have learned some of God’s plans and what is coming. There is much strategic prayer. We expect Nazi-type resistance from the government down, so most [people involved] maintain low profiles about specifics.

“Four years ago,” he related, “I was on a speaking tour throughout the US and I was invited to speak to a community of Christians with a self-proclaimed love for Israel. The day before the event, I was invited to a closed-door meeting of the community leadership. They confided in me that they have established a secret shelter for Jews, to protect them in a future wave of anti-Semitism in America.

“They proceeded to show me a warehouse with well over 100 cots, mattresses and boxes of sealed food which they claimed were kosher. Soon thereafter, I met another community, disconnected and unaware of the first, that was preparing for the same scenario in nearly the same way.

“As you can imagine, I was shocked to encounter these groups, yet moved and comforted [to learn] that they exist and that there would be some refuge, should such a disastrous scenario occur.”

Speaking more generally, Abramowitz further explained, “As someone who considers myself a student of history, I think it is critical that Jews around the world remain vigilant and aware that anti-Semitism can rear its ugly head anywhere in the world, albeit wearing different masks and taking different forms.

“In that spirit, there are times that I, and many others, feel responsible to sound the alarm when Jew hatred is getting particularly virulent,” he concluded.

Kent elaborated on the same theme. “I believe what we are seeing in the US today is only a small example of the anarchy, chaos and evil hatred we are going to see. We also expect a sudden tsunami (not a physical tsunami) to catapult aliyah (immigration of Jews to Israel), so we are ready in advance,” Kent said.

I recently began to pray for Pastor Steve Long that Jesus will give him power and influence over The CBC, Global News and / or CTV news network!

I asked this because after listening to many of his sermons and reading his blogs I concluded that Pastor Steve Long is a CHRISTIAN INTELLECTUAL who tries his very best to look at questions that confront us from every relevant and important angle. This is NOT a common characteristic in Christian pastors and evangelists!!!!!!!!!
For the record... I should let you know that for near death experiencer Dr. Kevin Zadai I prayed and asked Jesus to give him ten percent or more of the VOTING shares of Southwest Airlines and / or Facebook and / or youtube!

Millennium

“A thousand years of peace, love, and joy will begin on the earth at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. This thousand-year period is called the Millennium. The scriptures and the prophets help us understand what it will be like to live on the earth during the Millennium. Because of the destruction of the wicked at the Savior’s Second Coming, only righteous people will live on the earth at the beginning of the Millennium. They will be those who have lived virtuous and honest lives. These people will inherit either the terrestrial or celestial kingdom” (Gospel Principles, 2009, p. 263).

“There will be two great works for members of the Church during the Millennium: temple work and missionary work. Temple work involves the ordinances that are necessary for exaltation. These include baptism, the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the temple ordinances—the endowment, temple marriage, and the sealing together of family units. Many people have died without receiving these ordinances. People on the earth must perform these ordinances for them. This work is now being done in the temples of the Lord. There is too much work to finish before the Millennium begins, so it will be completed during that time. Resurrected beings will help us correct the mistakes we have made in doing research concerning our dead ancestors. They will also help us find the information we need to complete our records. Premortality

“Every person who was ever born on earth is our spirit brother or sister. Because we are the spirit children of God, we have inherited the potential to develop His divine qualities. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can become like our Heavenly Father and receive a fulness of joy” (Gospel Principles, 2009, p. 9).

“A veil covers our memories of our premortal life, but our Father in Heaven knows who we are and what we did before we came here. He has chosen the time and place for each of us to be born so we can learn the lessons we personally need and do the most good with our individual talents and personalities” (Gospel Principles, 2009, p. 10)

“Our Heavenly Father knew we could not progress beyond a certain point unless we left Him for a time. He wanted us to develop the godlike qualities that He has. To do this, we needed to leave our premortal home to be tested and to gain experience. Our spirits needed to be clothed with physical bodies. We would need to leave our physical bodies at death and reunite with them in the Resurrection. Then we would receive immortal bodies like that of our Heavenly Father. If we passed our tests, we would receive the fulness of joy that our Heavenly Father has received. (See D&C 93:30–34.) Our Heavenly Father called a Grand Council to present His plan for our progression (seeTeachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, 209, 511). We learned that if we followed His plan, we would become like Him. We learned that He would provide an earth for us where we would prove ourselves (see Abraham 3:24–26). A veil would cover our memories, and we would forget our heavenly home. This would be necessary so we could exercise our agency to choose good or evil without being influenced by the memory of living with our Heavenly Father. Thus we could obey Him because of our faith in Him, not because of our knowledge or memory of Him. “Satan wanted to force us all to do his will. Under his plan, we would not be allowed to choose. He would take away the freedom of choice that our Father had given us. Satan wanted to have all the honor for our salvation. Under his proposal, our purpose in coming to earth would have been frustrated (see Teachings of Presidents of the Church: David O. McKay [2003], 207)” (Gospel Principles, 2009, p. 13)

“When we lived as spirit children with our heavenly parents, our Heavenly Father told us about His plan for us to become more like Him. We shouted for joy when we heard His plan (see Job 38:7)” (Gospel Principles, 2009, p. 23).

Priesthood

“We must have priesthood authority to act in the name of God when performing the sacred ordinances of the gospel, such as baptism, confirmation, administration of the sacrament, and temple marriage. If a man does not have the priesthood, even though he may be sincere, the Lord will not recognize ordinances he performs (see Matthew 7:21–23; Articles of Faith 1:5)” (Gospel Principles, 2009, p. 67).

I have the opinion that Latter day Saints have a much better relationship with Jewish scholars in Israel than many churches have and... I believe that their Brigham Young campus in Jerusalem has enormous potential ....

Brigham Young University in Jerusalem and peace in the Middle East

I believe that Latter day Saints will catch onto how most of us Christians have refused to obey this admonition from Jesus.....

"Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver theeto the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, andthou be cast into prison." (Matthew 5:25)

This tendency to agree with our adversaries can begin with agreement on one topic... .one subject that we can find common ground on.... .but then Jesus can help that agreement to increase and increase and increase......

Here is the ancient Islamic prediction that I feel Latter day Saints WILL BE WILLING TO AGREE WITH and I believe that research on the advantages to this will happen from B.Y.U. in Jerusalem......

"Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) as saying: The Last Hour will not come before wealth becomes abundant and overflowing, so much so that a man takes Zakat out of his property and cannot find anyone to accept it from him and till the land of Arabia becomes meadows and rivers."

New Mexico biologist and Coach Carl Cantrell has written this up in a manner that can help Christians, Jews and Muslims to take a whole new look at the wisdom hidden in Isaiah chapter thirty five.

"So how is our problem of continental drying causing global warming? It all has to do with vegetation and sunlight. When sun light hits a plant, it causes a process which we call photosynthesis where the energy from the sun light creates oxygen for us to breath, water for us to drink, and is stored as sugar for plants and animals to use. When the same sun light hits the soil, all of its energy turns into heat and is radiated back into the atmosphere, carried away by running surface water such as rain fall, is carried away to other areas by our winds, and diffuses down into the soil towards the earth's crust. All of this warms our planet increasing its average temperature.

Therefore, the less vegetation you have on the planet, the more sunlight is being turned into heat and the warmer the planet becomes. This is very critical because warmer and dryer winds dry out other land areas faster decreasing the vegetation on those land areas. Less humidity in the air also reflects less sun light back out into space so that more sun light strikes the earth and more heat is generated.

The truth is that you can do more to decrease global warming by just reducing the average temperature for the Sahara Desert by one or two degrees than if we humans completely quit using fossil fuels and returned to the cave.

So, how would you start working to resolve this problem? Easy, cool the deserts and get some vegetation growing on them as soon as possible. But the method is much more complex than that. You have to use the prevailing trade winds in relation to the deserts to get the best results as quickly as possible and it will be extremely expensive.

Then we build desalination plants along the coast near these water sheds and pipe water to the tops or ridges of the water sheds

This will do a number of things. First, it will increase the moisture in the desert soil so that it will develop water tables and water will begin to run in the streams. This water will increase the amount of vegetation in the area and decrease the amount of heat being generated by sun light cooling the watered area and all areas down wind of the watered area. As more available water evaporates, it will cool the air and reflect more sun light back out into space cooling the area even more. Cooler and more humid air will have less of a heating effect on areas down wind and will reflect more sun light back into space in those areas cooling areas we won't be watering yet. Cooler and more humid air will also have less of a warming effect on our seas and oceans.

Rain water running off of cooler soil will decrease the heating effect on our oceans and our planet crusts which will decrease catastrophic storm activities for other areas and seismic activity for the entire planet. Also, returning more ocean water to the surface and aquifers of our continents will lower the sea levels providing more usable land for us to farm and build on.

With cooler desert areas and increasing vegetation, less water will evaporate from our deserts increasing the amount of surface water even more and increasing the amount of vegetation and animal life by huge amounts because deserts currently take up more than 20% of our land surface. Populations will be able to spread out and there will be less competition for existing land areas.

This strategy has to be done in steps with the first step being to begin slowing the rate at which our global warming is increasing. We need to focus on that until we have brought it to a point to where the temperature is not increasing any more and is reasonably stable. While we are doing this, we need to come to a global consensus of just how cool we want to cool our planet down to. If we cool it down too much, we will begin to have devastatingly harsh winters in large populated areas and even cause an ice age to set in.

Then we begin cooling the planet down to a point which will be most beneficial for all countries or the planet as a whole. We need to gradually bring the temperature down because there may be a lag effect in which the planet will continue cooling after we stop increasing our efforts to cool it off more. We may even want to stop cooling the planet once or twice before we reach our targeted temperatures to see if there is a lag effect

We need to start working on this as soon as possible because, if the planet reaches a point to where it is warming faster than our technology can possibly stop or reverse this warming trend, then our planet is lost and all life will cease to exist on this planet within a relatively short period of time. We will need to start with the largest and hottest deserts because cooling them will have the greatest benefit in the least time. (Global Warming II by biologist Carl Cantrell).

Mormonism is godlike in form but they most definitely deny the power given to us in the "deity" of Jesus Christ. Satan isn't concerned about us having "good morals". We can have good morals and deny the Throne of God. He is fine with that. Jesus being fully God as described in the Scripture was the only possible sacrifice to cleanse us from our sins. Jesus said to lay our burdens on Him. We come as a child.....not all the hocus pocus presented by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. I don't understand why you would want to partner with Islamic faith that denies my Lord. It is not many paths to God.....there is One and all are welcome.
