20 + C + M + B + 22 This is the Blessing of the Three Holy Kings for the year 2022. Their Feast Day on t20 + C + M + B + 22he 6th of January is a public holiday here in Baden-Württemberg in Germany and in Austria and in France and in a lot more countries. Do you know this Blessing - or should I explain it?
When Caspar is written as Kaspar, then the writing on the doors goes like this: 20 + K + M + B + 22 And the interpretaion is: "Kyrie mansionem benedicat = May the Lord bless this house!"
Else CMB stands for: Caspar Melchior Balthasar. And for: "Christus mansionem benedicat = May Christ bless this house!"
Nobody in the US has ever heard of Caspar Melchior Balthasar? Only of Trump and Biden forever and forever ..... and a day ...
What reaction were you expecting exactly? You've just stated a relatively minor and obscure fact without any commentary or apparent purpose. There really isn't anything meaningful for anyone else to add is there?
Well, thank you for your reaction now, even if this reaction is insulting. But anything is better than nothing. So you are not interested to learn anything new.
A Blessing for the coming year 2022 is not something that is "minor and obscure" for me. If it is for you, I cannot help it. So now you can tell anybody who should wish you a Happy New Year that this is minor and obscure.
As for me, I am always curious to learn new things - also at the age of 75. It seems that you are only interested in things that you know exactly already. Isn't that quite boring, HonestJoe?
It wasn't intended as insulting, it was an honest question. I'm always interested to learn new things and did here (though I think it was something I was vaguely aware of already) but that still doesn't explain what responses to the information you expected.

Today now there is Silvester Day. And on the 6th of January there will be the day of Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar.

To us in the US, Jan 6 is the celebration of the Republican attempt to terminate our method of selecting a president, making huge progress against the perceived failure of US democracy. I know - not so tied to any particular religious celebration. Best wishes to you!

Yes. Epiphany is well known here among those with any religious awareness. Some here call it 12th Night, Epiphany eve being the 12th day after Christmas, with December 25 being number 1. But, it's still known by them to be Epiphany. Sorry for derailing from a beautiful celebration we share through much of the world.
Behind these Three Holy Kings there may be Three Holy Queens or also Three Goddesses of old: Catherine + Margareta + Barbara! That also means: CMB
My wife's second language is German..... I would love to hear or read the explanation for this..... I see now that you already did explain this.... thank you..... I have extremely high hopes for 2022.. .that by January 1, 2023 I will regard it as the best year of my sixty two years.... it is certainly off to an amazing beginning.....
