The Old Guard Dies, But It Does Not Surrender. By JAG January 1, 2022 "THE OLD GUARD DIES, BUT IT DOES NOT SURRENDER." __General Cambronne Napoleon's French elite Old Guard fighting fiercely at the Battle of Waterloo was brave and courageous but it could not hold the line against Wellington's (the Iron Duke) British infantry. At the end, the French General Cambronne was commanding the last remnants of Napoleon's Old Guard and was called upon by the British General Colville to surrender. General Cambronne replied: "THE OLD GUARD DIES, BUT IT DOES NOT SURRENDER." Whether historically true or not, the story presents an excellent opportunity to state a strong Christian declaration: CHRISTENDOM'S OLD GUARD NEITHER DIES OR SURRENDERS. NEVER. NOT EVER. Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the Earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword __The Lord Jesus (Matthew 10:34) The Lion Of The Tribe Of Judah cannot be defeated. He (Jesus) must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. "The LORD is a Warrior." Exodus 15:3 Victory. []
Christian Conservatives that do not cowardly cave in like warm butter on the social issues rather they hold the line and do not budge. JAG
As if life is a war for the salvation of your soul or the souls of others. Not a happy outlook for the ONE life you get.
Napoleon slaughtered tens of thousands of people just in an attempt to grab more land and more money. Tells me a lot about someone's "christianity" when they start using examples of that kind of crap as some kind of life lesson.
Trump, he's like Rasputin or David Koresh. He has to sample all the sins so he knows how to fight them.
Don't think so. Trump is an opportunist like Koresh its true - but this does not represent the "Old Guard" I don't think.. a manifistation perhaps .. but, to me the Old Guard .. would be the Fundamentalist Religious Right Establishment. Trump was perhaps a small head that popped up on this multi-headed beast .. but can't qualify him as "The Beast" I don't think .. if that makes any sense.
And mainly tens of thousands of his OWN people. Frances's population never recovered from the Napoleonic conflicts, not by the First World War or even the Second and probably not to the present day. France was regarded as the premier European military power for centuries until Napoleon insisted on exploiting the position and in so doing bled them white
Hold the line against what? Science? Critical thinking? Those who want evidence for supernatural claims? Feeling a little threatened perhaps by some pesky homosexuals coming to church?
Hitler said if you fight for one acre you fight for Germany. Is that good advice for Christians despite the author, or should we give up easily?
