These programs have been shown to increase the health of the citizenry, reduce poverty, promote happiness and well being — you know, all the things Republicans are against. And other countries can do this at a lower cost (taxes plus private costs) than we do because they do not have 40% of the nation that are evil incompetent f***wits.

I have no doubt that you believe slavery and expecting societal benefits from our tax base is the same. So original!

Why can't you just admit that? Paid for by taxes, meaning that the responsibility to pay for these options is divided out to those who actually pay taxes, which is about less than half of all income earners these days. And let us be super clear about that, those of us who actually pay income taxes to the federal government are then paying those who generally don't for taking care of their kids and medical care for them. We aren't talking about sales tax doing those things because ad velorum taxes don't get used to provide those services. We aren't talking about SS or Medicaid because they don't either.

If you want to reduce poverty, make education actually work for public schools. Make public schools accountable for ensuring that all students, including those in democratic run large cities, responsible for actually producing educated folks. I don't know a single republican that would be against those things.

And it probably isn't nice, or appropriate for you to call out those 40%ers who you've determined must become dependent on your taxation largess for their futures. How demeaning is that. Not a question. I'd venture to guess that you've never been to any of these other countries, like China, and had to endure their lives. But hey, here's to you spouting the Chinese tea today...

 

Again, other nations already provide these benefits at a lower cost basis than the US does when looking at tax incentives and private costs. We just have our priorities wrong. You are free to exclude specific taxes if it makes you feel better and helps you justify your argument but each of these individuals in question already pay taxes.

There absolutely needs to be accountability in our education system. I have no idea what you are referring to on the Republican front however seeing that red states have some of the worst educational attainment in the nation. As usual, it is all talk and shifting the blame.

I have been to Canada several times and many parts of Europe more times than I can count due to much of my family living there. If you believe childcare and public healthcare in this context is similar to what China does and not other first world democracies then you are about as well traveled as you are informed.

 

So move to other nations that give away this stuff. I guarantee you'll lose more freedom, and pay more in taxes that you do here. Have a great time. But don't expect the US to emulate other nations or their lifestyle. This isn't China, or other nations you might wish to move to.
