“She’s trying to be a moderate, because Arizona is a moderate state and the way you get elected here — or at least the way you have in the past — is to not be challenged in a primary and get your ass to the middle to try to keep enough swing voters in your camp,” said David Doak, a retired longtime Democratic strategist and ad maker living in Arizona. “Given the polarization — the leftists are more left now and the right-ists are more crazy now — your calculation needs to be different … Her calculation, I think, is off.”

My process is to analyze the politicians best interests. If the politicians words run counter to facts that make the politician look bad, then he or she is lying. My belief is that it is impossible to be elected to office by telling the truth.

Incoherent, each opponent is in a single district.
They drew them, if you want more competitive districts, DRAW THEM.
If NY and CA doesn't like how their districts are drawn, drawn them differently. The GOP doesn't control the drawing of districts in either state.

    California 13 D+40 Democratic
    New York 13 D+40 Democratic
    New York 15 D+39 Democratic
    California 12 D+38 Democratic
    Illinois 7 D+37 Democratic
    California 37 D+36 Democratic
    Washington 7 D+36 Democratic
    Massachusetts 7 D+35 Democratic
    California 34 D+34 Democratic
    New Jersey 10 D+34 Democratic
    New York 5 D+34 Democratic
    New York 7 D+34 Democratic
    New York 12 D+34 Democratic
    Illinois 4 D+33 Democratic
    New York 8 D+33 Democratic
    California 44 D+32 Democratic
    New York 9 D+32 Democratic
    California 40 D+31 Democratic

What about the other 4 states?

Further, the entire premise is crap.

In 2020 the Dems won 0.51% on 50.8% of the popular vote.

Had you only won 221 seats rather han 222 seats, then your win would have been 50.8% of the seats which would match your 50.8% of the popular vote, yet, I hear not a damn peep out of any Democrat about how unhappy you are that you won a seat that your popular vote didn't entitle you to. According to you, you are very unhappy that you won more seats than your popular vote, but, that's not the case, is it?

With 31 states now having completed their redistricting, most states gerrymandered were done by the Democrats. Illinois added 2 Democratic districts, New Jersey, added 3 democratic districts, New Mexico, added 1 democratic district, Oregon added 2 democratic districts. Republican gerrymandered Ohio, which the Ohio Supreme court ruled their map unconstitutional. Ohio’s state legislature will have to draw up a new map. North Carolina added 2 Republican districts. So far in the gerrymandering war, the Democrats lead by 6 seats. You still have 19 states to go, so the final gerrymandering tally isn’t final.

When I say added 2 democratic districts, that also means 2 republicans districts were eliminated using Illinois as an example. North Carolina is the same, NC added 2 Republican districts and eliminate 2 Democratic districts. This is based on the new map vs. the old map.

Funny with all that popularity the man still manages to pull a sub-30 approval rating.

Oh well at leaat he still barely edges out President Harris. :roflol:

Tactically we really missed the boat on this one. Every sentence that came out of the mouths of Pelosi, Schumer and Biden should have been to make Manchin 100% responsible for getting HIS VOTING RIGHTS passed since the OP was written. Continue to work with Manchin on BBB, or infrastructure, but as far as voting rights was concerned, Dems needed to sign on the bottom line as co-sponsors and wash their hands of any accountability thereafter. heck he should have been chair of a special elections and voting rights committee to draft the bill. ! Let him take all the credit for finding those 10 votes, let him take the blame for not getting those 10 votes. He said that the Senate could work on a bipartisan basis without reforming the filibuster. He wrote a bill to prove it. It hasn't.

Not a day should have gone by in all these months without the President referring to this as Manchin's voting rights bill. Not a day should have gone by with Schumer publically promising to cooperate with Manchin to get his voting rights bill passed and shaming Manchin for his failure to get those 10 votes for his bill or helping to change the rules to get that job done.

Set him up as the leader who failed the Senate and the country on this issue, not Biden, not Schumer, not the Senate Dems or not even Mitch McConnell.

You want high school drop out McDonald's employees running our country's bank account? I'm assuming you are aware that all their cash registers have pictures instead of words. I, personally, have had to help cashiers count back my change in several stores through the years because their register malfunctioned and they didn't know how to add or subtract to count back the change. A few of them, flustered told me to keep my money and just take the item and I told them that I had no intention of stealing so either they could count back the proper change with my help or call their store manager to notify them that they have taken it upon themselves to donate items to the public because they can't count. One guess on how many chose the latter option? I'm sure you guessed correctly...ZERO.

I agree something needs to be fixed but I question if that "cure" is the proper antidote.

I just can't take any Democrat whining about gerrymandering seriously. The Dems started it, famously employed it gleefully for a very long time, and NOT ONE had a problem with it until the GOP finally wised up, got down in the gutter with them, and started beating them at their own game. Now their schtick is that yes they do it, but only "defensively" LOL!

~ You make a good point. I would like to put all on commission with a stipend and housing . No results - no bonus. Sort of like a volunteer government. Term limits of course. :aww:

    There's an idea.

I always thought they should get the same few pennies raises, no bonuses and "average guy" health insurance. I'm sure they'd fix it in a heartbeat.

And, nobody is ever allowed to use their position to get preferential treatment from the police and courts. I don't care if you played basketball with Obama or golf with Trump. You face arrest and a judge just like everybody else.

Never, ever, ever can you sign us up for war unless your kid(s) or grandkid(s) are required to enlist. No bone spurs or fake asthma exemptions.

Sorry the Republicans have changed very little save for the slow dying off of it's neocon wing. Meanwhile most conservatives believe in the same principles today that we did fifty years. The Democrats however have and are falling increasing rapidly to the left hand side of the universe. It is increasingly becoming a death cult willing to sacrifice almost any thing and everything for the sake of an increasingly tenuous grasp on power. Just how tenuous may wl be seen in the coming election.

They need to get the bill to the floor and get every Senator’s vote on the public record. It’s all theatre until then. Evidently this is supposed to happen next week.

    For good reason.

"When the dealer stacks the deck in advance, the house usually wins. That perhaps explains how a party that generally musters no more than 55 percent of the statewide popular vote is positioned to reliably win anywhere from 75 percent to 80 percent of the seats in the Ohio congressional delegation," state Supreme Court Justice Michael Donnelly wrote in the court's majority opinion. "By any rational measure, that skewed result just does not add up."

Like I suggested earlier. Wait till 2022 when the democrats are in the minority and THEN suggest we get rid of the filibuster. I GUARANTEE you the republicans will go along with it.

But you And I both know the democrats will never do that when they’re not in the majority don’t we.
