It's the same as Dining Out.... that doesn't mean, other than the occasional dangerous turn at a portable DC hot dog stand (NOT recommended), that you are actually eating outside... you generally have to go outside of place A to get inside of place B...

I'm still waiting for logic to kick in and you explaining how/why any jurisdiction would attempt to check vaccine status for every soul walking outside.... You want to argue Muriel was a little cutesy with her tweet? Fine... I can't stop you...

What powers are given to states and local governments by the US Constitution? Could you be specific, or is that asking too much?

 

I’m actually surprised you have to ask. The tenth amendment for starters gives them quite a bit of authority in this region. Many states already have emergency laws that I totally disagree with but can be done because they are not limited by the constitution from it.

There is nowhere in the constitution that prohibits the states power to exclude what DC is doing.

 

Good job Joe, but I must ask if you also factor in the Ninth Amendment in your equation as to what powers any state or local government might have?

For example, does any state or local government have the power to tell the citizen what clothing he must wear? What food he must eat? With whom he must associate?

Does any state or local government have the power to order the citizen to take medicine he does not with to take?

A reminder to take vaccination papers when "heading out" does not equate to a statement that your vaccination papers and ID are going to be checked when (and simply because) you "go outside". That's your erroneous interpretation - or in other words, you're making 1+1=3.

You interpret it this way because you've swallowed, wholesale, the false assertion in the OP article that "You’ll need Vaccination papers to go outside in DC". As Egoboy said, if you'd bothered to clink the link in the Mayor's tweet you'd have known this was false, but you didn't, so you don't.

The fact is, it is not true that you need vax papers or ID to "go outside". What is true is that you will need them to enter (go inside) certain places. Hence the reminder to take them with you "before heading out".

Obviously there's no need if you're heading out to walk the dog, visit friends or family, etc., with no intention to visit any of the places where you will need them to go inside.

No they can't because there isn't a set amount of powers the state has unlimited powers as long as they don't violate the Constitution
