Our WA premier just announced no opening of WA boarders:

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-20/wa-border-opening-delayed/100771492

Our Federal Government sent Djokovic back home, for possibly being an outspoken antivax campaigner on covid 19 jabs. We have all become crippled with fear, this is working in the governments interest, isn't it? My God, have we become a country of Sissis, can't we speak our mind anymore? And can't we tolerate the small number of unwilling vaxers? Any thoughts?

    cheers

    Agree with Djokovic.

Not sure about WA. They are ripe for high fatalities there, as there has been no wave yet. Seems prudent to hold out as long as possible (within reason).

I think your sissis comment is far-fetched. Even been on a ventilator?

You have to realise that just about the only major hospitals in WA are in Perth and they take retrieval’s from the entire state. Given that there are a LOT of isolated very vulnerable communities in WA that is a recipe for disaster. Some of the choke is lack of nursing staff. Can’t get agency nurses for love or money. Too many are either vaccinating or doing testing or working in COVID wards in Victoria and NSW. The other, huge, massive issue is aeromedical transport. It takes time to transport patients from say, Broome to Perth and I gather there are problems https://ww2.health.wa.gov.au/Improving-WA-Health/Aeromedical-Services-WA-Inquiry

    https://acem.org.au/getmedia/54f77d...EM_Submission_WA_Aeromedical_Services_Inquiry

WA is still only at 78% vaccinated with a hugely vulnerable population in the First Nations people, who if they succumb like the Navajo and the Inuit had a death rate three times that of non-indigenous

    And keep WA shut forever?
I wouldn't trust our health experts to administer toilet paper.
One single case, and an entire hospital on the brink of collapse?

Does having a valid visa mean you don't have to abide by the laws/rules of the country you're going to?

    Authorities granted him an exemption.
See, it is quite simple, we have elections coming, and our PM wants to show off with his boarderforce and tough handling.

Big Bad Government and the authoritarians who support it are a far greater threat to humanity than any pandemic.

“Thus, for example, although appeals to his reason or to his sympathy are likely to be lost on him, appeals to his conventionality or to his submissiveness toward authority might be effective. (But it should be clearly understood that such activity would in no way reduce his conventionality or authoritarianism or his fascist potential.) Similarly it is consistent with what we know of the potentially fascist personality to suppose that he would be impressed by legal restraints against discrimination, and that his self-restraint would increase as minority groups became stronger through being protected. (But it must be remembered that it is the usual practice of the fascist to dress his most antidemocratic actions in a legalistic cloak.).

But the “authorities” were NOT a government body

You do know France has also brought in an even stricter mandate

What goes on in the land down under is not much any of my business but I will tell you that you all are not alone when it comes to running a nation of fear.

here in the U.S. we used to have leaders that said “give me freedom or give me death”, “there is nothing to fear but fear itself”…. Now we have leaders that tell you to hide from your loved ones on thanksgiving and Christmas. To go and live life in fear of the unvaccinated. It almost makes me sick because our kids will remember this. This is an example of fear we are setting. I haven’t worn a mask now in damn near a year and proud of it. I’m vaccinated but they still say I should wear a mask. I say F them. I won’t live in fear and if a company doesn’t like my maskless face I can go somewhere else. I’m done with these rules even if my sissy government is not.

    Could be

WA has announced a huge infrastructure spend on WA hospitals and I am betting it is down to lack of isolation capability. What would happen if the air conditioning of a hospital were all on one circuit like a cruise ship?

Over 3/4 of a million dead because of??? Too invested in “FREEDUMBS” to do simple things like wear a mask. Keep it up mate - the death toll amongst republicans has been so high that it may affect the outcome of future elections

According to the WHO we have a death rate (covid 19) globally of around 1.7%, the same as with other flu types.
Means covid is a flu, but not the pest.
If people want to get vaccinated, fine with me.
If they don't, we should accept this.

McGowan has had two years to fix the hospital system and he's done sweet **** all. We had ambulance ramping a few weeks ago with ZERO COVID cases.

    McGowan needs to pay, hard.

Seeing that the vast majority of deaths(95%) from covid involve comorbidities. Then only those with comorbidities such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, old age, etc. should get vaccinated, if it is to be mandated. Even though it is wise to be vaccinated, the remainder should be free to choose.
