As I read and listen to the news I see where Manchin and Sinema have voted with the republicans and now they are being criticized. But when Romney and McCain voted with the democrats, they were called patriots. Why is that? Last year Trump said the elections were rigged and he was called a sore loser, then yesterday Biden said the midterm elections could easily be illegitimate. Why is that? Biden says Russia will invade Ukraine's borders and we must do something to help Ukraine meanwhile Biden is ignoring all the people from many countries who are invading our southern border. Why is that?
It would take a dissertation to unwind all the misconceptions packed in your post so I'll only take on the first. M&S refused to go along with a filibuster carve out in order to preserve the voting rights being gutted by Repub controlled state legislatures. Doing so while pretending Earth would be knocked off its axis for doing something that's been done 160 times before. They've chosen to protect an arcane Senate rule not included in the Constitution and counter productive to the pursuit of democracy. The result being a guarantee of more gerrymandering, more suppressive election rules, more voter roll purges, more Repub attempts to do everything possible to ensure maintaining power while being in the minority.
Couldn't the same be applied to the Russians crossing the border into the Ukraine? How is crossng our southern border illegally not an invasion?
I'll take on the second. Who called them patriots? The other Trump Republicans, Fox news, the Trump base? AFAIK, they were called traitors and RHINOs.
Some criticize, some applaud. Some criticize, some applaud. Where's the beef? Invasion is an instance of invading a country with an armed force aka a military attack. The fear is that Russia will invade Ukraine with its military, not that some Russians sneak across the border to seek for landscaping jobs.
Maybe because providing healthcare to more Americans and Impeaching a proven criminal is more patriotic than allowing Republicans to overturn our democratic system. Because the elections of 2020 were PROVEN legitimate, whereas Republicans have been attempting to undo that this year. You seem to believe that this is a matter of WHO says things... and not about whether they are right or wrong. That is a clear sign of a purely partisan position.
Invasion an incursion by a large number of people or things into a place or sphere of activity. "stadium guards are preparing for another invasion of fans" an unwelcome intrusion into another's domain. "random drug testing of employees is an unwarranted invasion of privacy"
If thousands were coming in all in a group then it might fit, but they didn't so they aren't. Your just using the word INVASION for its emotional impact.
You said it does not fit the definition. There is nothing in the definition about thousands at one time.
Merriam-Webster Definition of invasion 1: an act of invadingespecially : incursion of an army for conquest or plunder 2: the incoming or spread of something usually hurtful looks like you’ve got tunnel vision on just definition number one. Might want to work on that.
When they list multiple definitions of the same word, it does not have to satisfy all the definitions.
Yeah, why don't Biden enforce our border laws? At least Trump started building a border wall -- but then Biden stopped the construction. My "beef" is with the liberal MSM.
So far he has apprehended and deported more than anyone else, and its not even close. So, yea, the border laws are enforced. Ok. If you included all of the MSM, you would not have to ask such questions.
Apples and oranges on all your comparisons. In many respects we’re back to pre 1965 voting rights and it’s freaking 2022. Republican’s crossed over to break the filibuster back then because they were enlightened enough to recognize the importance of a fundamental right: plus money wasn’t as big of an influence in politics. It’s 2022 not 1965. Without pre clearance state Republican legislators have gone in with surgical precision to suppress the vote of various communities: American voters. That is not a legitimate action. Plus the dark money groups that actually freaking wrote that legislation would be subject to the ‘Disclose Act’ had they passed voting rights legislation. The American people would actually know precisely who is pushing this BS on us and lining the pockets of legislators. Money not principle is winning here and that should piss us all off. It’s not a legitimate course of business. Anyone that invades an ally should expect our wrath. Yeah. Rather than utilizing immigration as a political weapon our Party’s need to fix our system. I can guarantee you these dark money groups are neck deep in this border BS profiting off the broken system. All Americans—even the fictitious paper ones—should be responsible for what they do and say.
Lee, that's just the way I see Liberals doing. Everything in their power to stay in power for decades if possible. Why do the fight voter ID? Even Mexico and Canada have it. Why have they changed the rules for ballot harvesting? That has to be the easiest way to cheat. Why does Pelosi want illegals to vote? Why aren't they trying to control the border? Could it be for every 750,000 new people in a district, they can get another Congressman, and they don't need to vote to get one. Most, if not all states only purge rolls if a person hasn't voted in the last two elections. Only then after they send them a card stating they haven't voted and if they intend to vote in the next election, mark the card yes or no and mail if back. Only then do they take people off the rolls. That's because people die and move.
