Its not a joke, this is the FL governors priority.

What's next, - State mandated safe spaces for white people where they can hug each other when they feel discomfort about the past?

Florida could shield whites from ‘discomfort’ of racist past

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A bill pushed by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that would prohibit public schools and private businesses from making white people feel “discomfort” when they teach students or train employees about discrimination in the nation’s past received its first approval Tuesday.

“No individual is inherently racist, sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously, solely by the virtue of his or her race or sex,” Diaz said. “No race is inherently superior to another race.”

    The horror.

Oh, I'm not feeling any discomfort for anything I did not do.

I think you may feel differently if there was an ideology trying to worm it's way into our schools that intended to insult and degrade Black and Brown ethnic groups. And that's an interesting question. Why would you support insulting and degrading one ethnic group in school?

Maybe what you take as an insult is not an insult at all, but just something you have been instructed to take as such.

I must give it to DeSantis, - he plays the woke card like a pro. In a sense he is hijacking wokeism since he is using it to create laws.

    Discomfort.......LOL

I am not a big fan of CRT, but to create laws against making someone feel imagined "discomfort" .......oh, come on..... What's next, - edit out all uncomfortable historical facts because they make people feel discomfort? Who decides what supposedly causes discomfort? The government? Apparently so.

What "facts" are being eliminated from schools?

So he's basically creating legislation where you can't sit there and tell white people they're bad just because they're white.

Sounds like something to really get your knickers in a bunch over

I don’t think DeSantis said anything about discomfort. Discomfort is just the leftist narrative to denigrate the Governor’s policies.

So, in your world, it's perfectly okay for black and brown people to be made uncomfortable but white people's affect must be guarded by laws?

Are you all the same people that say bullying is good for kids as it's a natural part of growing up?

I must admit at least your ilk is consistent.

safe spaces are dumb for blacks or whites... but if one is allowed, both should be allowed (sounds like self segregation to me)

just remember, what they say is 'blacks are a threat to whites' and 'whites are a threat to blacks', and they need a safe space - is that the msg we want to send to kids

Should we teach little Japanese children that Pearl harbor is their fault?

I notice you didn't cite any text from the bill, but rather only an interpretation of it by someone who doesn't like it.

What does the bill actually say?

    https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2022/148
Individual Freedom; Providing that subjecting any individual, as a condition of employment, membership, certification, licensing, credentialing, or passing an examination, to training, instruction, or any other required activity that espouses, promotes, advances, inculcates, or compels such individual to believe specified concepts constitutes discrimination based on race, color, sex, or national origin; revising the requirements for required instruction on health education; prohibiting instructional materials reviewers from recommending instructional materials that contain any matter that contradicts certain principles, etc.

So when you get an instructional material, that makes a person believe a concept of discrimination based on race ... well it's prohibited.
That would include teaching historic facts that white people made black people their slaves in the US, and legally humiliated them all the way in the 1960's as 2nd class citizens.

Okay so it mentions nothing about discomfort and you have an opinion of your own interpretation...

Who in Florida is gonna shield Floridian progressives and non-white ethnicities from their current racist and bigoted attitudes? I know for a fact a few cops in Florida are really sick and tired of bigotry of cops in Florida and elsewhere in the US, for example.

They aren’t trying to say they can’t teach history. Not sure how they got the idea that this will change history classes unless teachers actively scold their white kids about being white.

I just looked up this bills text. It doesn’t mention once that it only protects whites. This could also prevent people using the acts of past racial crime stats as well. I think they won’t realize the adverse effects this may have on statistics.

Again your Democrat talking point has no teeth. The concept behind CRT is that white people are inherently racist; that is utter nonsense

Now, if they wish to dive deeper into the topic of how those who are racist tend to vote Democrat, then that would be an interesting topic

Because you want whites to feel discomfort regarding **** that happened in the past?

This is direct push back against the bullshit being brought on in "progressive" controlled areas. **** happened in the past. We learn from it and move on. We don't need white shame. White guilt. White remorse. White anything. I mean if anyone should feel shame right now, it's the places that still have slavery going on which...you know...ISN'T white people. Just sayin.

Black countries still have slavery. The only country that fought a ****ing war to end slavery was this white one.

This is a great thing. Florida is making your progressive states look more and more like the **** holes they are. Absolutely love it.

Those white people were called Democrats. That detail also needs to be taught.
