So if it were up to you you would teach little Japanese children that they're responsible for Pearl harbor?

Or at least think it's okay if someone did?

Is it called the Special Snowflake Act? Because it should be.

It’s fair to say that the censorship of racial topics has been going by the left as well. The school boards are overwhelmingly left leaning. They have been dictating what is taught and what is not for years.

That aside, this bill does not say what not to teach. They just say teachers should not point to race to make people feel uncomfortable. That’s not saying they can’t teach about slavery.

I would teach them that Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, and I would not care how they would feel about it. Why wouldn't I?

    Yes.

why do you think only the left teaches.... I think it's probably about 50\50, or course more right leaning teachers in right leaning states and visa versa

When I addressed racism in my classes, I think we made progress because we looked at racism in all racial groups. No punches pulled.

We've gone into reverse in pop culture. Sherman Hemsley as George Jefferson on The Jeffersons was often called out for bigotry by his tv wife, Isabel Sanford. Not much of that today.

The Florida law is a disgrace. DeSantis is a disgrace. Instead of this stupid law, Florida should be proactively dealing with racism--all racism--in public schools.

Maybe that's what the law is meant to do..

I’m not necessarily speaking of teachers. I’m speaking about school boards. For instance I wouldn’t ever vote for a school board that spoke about equity. Because I think that term is misguided. But every school board has an inclusion of equity training for teachers and for students.

I know, I know… everyone thinks equity is such a great word and it would be if they used it right. They push racial equity when in fact it should be equity for the poor. That way poor whites are not excluded from this leg up. The problem is that the left for some odd reason doesn’t believe that a white could ever be as poor as a black…. They can. However that’s just one example of the woke left manipulating curriculum.

But would you teach them if they were somehow responsible for it even though it happened long before they were born?

That's the pertinent question would you teach them they were bad by virtue of birth because of their ancestors?

You can worry about the value judgment stuff (see above), but whites were oppressors.

Pretty much everyone in history played an oppressor at some point should we teach that they're all evil by virtue of birth?

And the idea they are responsible somehow for the sins of men who have been dead for ages?

Screw all that noise they can kiss my unapologetic white ass.

What it all boils down to is this ideological agenda is it's your turn now whitey

You stopped making an argument several posts ago. I can't take seriously the party of Orwell complaining about "Orwellian law."

I guess we should stop teaching about slavery and Jim Crow?

that might hurt the feelings of white students.

Teach the history all you want just don't teach your little black kids in class to hate the white kids and tell them that it was somehow their fault while telling the white kids that they're evil by virtue of birth and that they are somehow responsible for the actions of men who died decades ago.

Do you think that's too much to ask?

DeSantis is amazing! He's saying "**** off" too it.

Your anecdote does not address or relate to the rest of the country.

California is trying to meet racism head on experiment and I'd say the state has gotten MORE racist and hateful. They have the knock out game amp up to 11 against old Asian people, riots...and people fleeing the state. Of course you'd blame all that on COVID as an escape route but the reality is when you hyper focus in on what divides us or makes us different you highlight it and make it worse.

    It just doesn't work.

Florida is simply declaring they are not going down that Oregon/California route of fail.

How did I know you would simply resort to knee jerk denialism?

Have you not heard of critical race theory?

    It's "kowtow." :roflol:
What foolishness. I'm not a progressive, nor am I a racist.
Naïve. DeSantis is playing people like you with a fiddle.
No, like a neutered dog, you don't get it.

According to anti-racism/CRT theory, whites are oppressors now. Is that what you think should be taught in schools? Do you think schools should teach Kendism anti racism in K-12?
