Hearing the DOJ describe them, one would think that the Oath Keepers are the scariest bunch of anti-American knuckleheads to come down the pike since the Ku Klux Klan.

Media sprinkles out terms describing the Oath Keepers as "right-wing extremists," "anti-government extremists," and "far right militia."

The Oath Keepers were founded in 2009 by Stewart Rhodes. It is an organization, created to resist violations of civil liberties by the government. In 2009 that sounded like conspiracy nut thinking. But since it's founding, we've been treated to Crossfire Hurricane, two impeachment show trials, COVID shutdowns, election 2020, and our own government targeting parents as domestic terrorists.

Stewart Rhodes believes Democrats see illegal immigration as a way to get more votes--pay no attention to those cancelled border wall contracts. He believes Democrats would confiscate everyone's guns--because that's exactly what they've said. He considers BLM to be a communist front organization--since its leaders are trained Marxists. In short, Rhodes is only an extremist if the ideas of freedom, limited government, and self-determination are now extreme.

The organization's name 'The Oath Keepers' is a reference to the oath that all soldiers and law enforcement officers swear--to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. While anyone can join, a large percentage of the membership is compiled of people who have taken that oath in either law enforcement or the military.

The DOJ claimed the Oath Keepers intended to conduct an armed paramilitary operation on Jan 6, 2021, to interfere with official congressional business.

    * None of the Oath Keepers were armed on Jan 6.
    * No paramilitary operation was conducted on Jan 6.

What have the Oath Keepers done in the past? They've defended the property rights of private citizens, protested an election that half of America thinks was stolen and accused biden of being a Chinese puppet. All these past activities have been consistent with the Constitution--freedom--of speech, freedom of assembly, property rights, and government by the people.

If I wasn't so damn old now, that as a veteran, as a patriot, as a lover of America, and as a proponent for a smaller-less intrusive government, then I would be signing up with one of the most pro American-Patriotic groups in America--that being the OATH KEEPERS.

The Oath Keepers? A bunch of ass-h*** zombie fighter wanna be that have their heads so far up their butts that they would risk killing their fellow
Americans for imagined glory. Morons, every last one of them.

Risk killing their fellow Americans? Like I said, the majority of these Oath Keepers are law enforcers and or veterans, and you have the gall to call them morons? I shouldn't be surprised by your anti American drivel here since your party doesn't hold our law enforcers or our veterans in high esteem, in fact, you rag on them all the time. These Oath Keepers are some of the most patriotic Americans.

When I first heard of them I thought they were guys trying to keep their marriages together. Now that I interacted with one or two I agree with Daniel Light
And I've always been very troubled by what a lot of Veterans are. Thank god that most people in the Army don't LIKE the experience. (And want it for everyone else)

I don't 'rag' on anyone. Armed Forces people are generally very good examples of what citizens should be, but not everyone should be in the Armed Forces; saying we all should be is the very definition of Fascism

Reactionary antigovernment group that espouses crackpot conspiracy theories, Now that I’ve reread that sentence they’re essentially the non-elected version of the Freedom Caucus.

It’s the sad state of affairs of “conservatism” today when they identify with these groups which can’t be distinguished from the Southern Democrats of yore.

AmericaThinker dishonors the once proud GOP by reducing its principles to empty rhetoric. It’s disgusting how these extremists wallow in the gutter for clicks. It’s disgusting the Republican Party believes this is the only way they can survive.

It’s disgusting that law enforcement didn’t take the 1/6 threat of violence seriously rather believing these whacked-out extremists were allies.

So they were created the same year a black man took office? And then tried to plan an insurrection last year?

    Sounds like Republicans

Amen, if you would have told me in 2009 an entire political party would not only be ignoring but in many times defending an attempt to prevent the certification of a national election by storming the Capitol building while waving the flag of a politician impeached and removed by the people I would have called you a liar. Especially if you would have said it was the Republicans.

Yet here we are. If the cultist side of the right are not unilaterally defeated our future is indeed bleak.

One man's 'freedom fighters' are another man's 'terrorists'. It always has been and always will be. No pro-militia organization could ever grow as large and infuential as the OathKeepers without drawing the ire of those who would seek a monopoly on the use of force. It appears to me that they were infiltrated and provacateured by the dark side of fedgov that hates The People having any teeth. Thus is always the risk of such a group becoming so large.

American minority groups really love dressing up and using ritualistic tropes.
    How quaint, yet pathetic.
The first ‘oath’ to honour is personal integrity that ought to exist within, and needs no fancy dress or other external display.

There was no insurrection and as pointed out in the OP...there was no paramilitary plan and they were all unarmed. Anything else you want to lie about?

Would your particular definition and or example of patriotism be in describing all those people in the obama administration, hillary clinton, the democrat congress, the entire lame street liberal media, and most if not all the agencies in our government during Trump's 4 years as potus who went out on a limb to try and pull a traitorous coup on our sitting potus by lying and putting America through 4 years of hell with the hildebeast's cunning attempt to claim Trump had colluded with the ruskies? Give us the names of all those patriots, okay? They should all be behind bars, and not not talking about places where people drink alcohol. LOCK HER UP sound familiar to you?

Simply put I think they are controlled opposition. A scapegoat that is Handy when needed. The FBI has been doing that sort of thing for decades.

That’s probably because literally nobody on the side you’re accusing is guilty of or claims what you said.

I entered the military through the draft. It wasn't my choice. Nevertheless it provided discipline and leadership skills for my later life. A young man matures quickly in the military. I think it was a mistake for the U.S. to abandon the draft. It helps develop stronger, more disciplined, less criminal men.

The military is not a compulsory training ground for young men. The modern technical military has very little use for non-career soldiers
