Florida wants to criminalize talking about Gays

I thought we called them 'boyfriend/girlfriends', or maybe fiancees, or try this - 'husband/ wife'. Are you really trying to sell us that grade schoolers are hidden from the fact, that people form boyfriend/girlfriend relationships in Florida?

 

No. The concept is explained by the culture whether the 'parents' are ready or not. They are also taught about kiddie porn through the same mechanism, and pregnancy, prostitution and masturbation and drug use, and cutting, and guns, and ... . If its not the schools through a curriculum, and its not the parents then question is what were they taught about these subjects and that is dependent on which 'sources' got there first.

 

So, given that there are thousands of gay, married coupes in So. Florida, do we really think that the subject won't come up around the classrooms
and lunch rooms of schools? I'm not saying the law is good or bad - just pointing out that it's just a law about optics - not really
about the reality of the world.

 

It should not be a subject in school for a very simple reason. Most religions are opposed to gay or lesbian relationships. It will end up conflicting with what the parents want to teach at home.

I know many of you will object to this reason, but it is very real and teaching LGBT in school will be trampling on religious freedom.

The children should be taught to be kind and courteous to everyone. However, that should stop short of any kind of approval of such relationships.

 

Boyfriends and girlfriends, vs engaged vs married requires you to know the couple in question.
I just gave you my preferred answers to my kids when they see a couple kissing in a street. When my 6 yo daughter noticed a gay couple walking holding hands I didn’t get into the concepts of homosexual relationship, I just told her they are very close friends.

All the law does is pretty much tell teachers to direct kids with such questions to their parents. There are a lot of people out there who agree with the concept of parents having an inalienable right to have a first stab at seriously explaining these things to kids as adults. Nobody doubts the fact that kids will find out from their peers sooner or later.

 

Do you ever have any further discussion than just "no its not"?

Teaching it in school will have the effect of condoning it and that is contrary to many religions.

Done, a search of the bible on the bible gateway website has not found anything in the bible prohibiting teaching LGBT in school. So nope, not a religious belief.

Well if parents want to 'have a first stab ' then they had better get there first! The date may have to be a little earlier than adulthood. Hasn't it occurred to you that there was a reason those kids felt they needed to ask a teacher instead of the most convenient adult in their lives? Maybe Mommy and Daddy are not very approachable when they are questioning their sexual identity or orientation. Maybe those are the last people on the planet they should ask, and they have figured that out.

Yeah? And kindergarteners? This is about all primary school children, not just the oldest of them.

 

Talk about false narratives. Teachers should not be getting involved in my childs sexuality and certainly should not be influencing it one way or another.

1) The government does not have free speech rights. Public schools are the government. It's a problem with socializing industry. The lines between privacy and government blur.

2) Children are, have always, and will always be, protected, in general from certain speech/expression.
You can still excersize your speech outside of indoctrination of children.

3) Are you for a teachers right in teaching kids about god and how homosexuality is a sin, or just your preferred speech

 

It's not to keep kids from discussing things. It's to keep teachers and individuals in authority from influencing children towards certain ideas, beliefs or opinions that are really none of the teachers business.

 

If a teacher is homosexual and a kids parents are instilling them with the idea that gay's are bad, unpleasant, etc. Then yes it is.

Then home school. ANYTHING a teacher says is going to have influence on a child - if Everything a teacher says is picked apart, then the teacher can't say a damn thing.
Can't teach history because someone will be offended. Can't teach geology, cause someone will be offended. Can't teach biology, cause someone will be offended.
No wonder teachers are getting harder and harder to find.

So, teach the kid at home - that way you won't be offended. Of course the kid goes nuts at 18, when they leave home, but whatever.

 

real americans do not teach children about contraception. "abstinence makes the heart grow fonder," and contraception leads to dancing and impure thoughts.

 

I'd have to be asking that teacher why he/she is talking about his/her love life to little kids.

 

This has nothing to do with religion.
