It worked so well for them when Solyndra went belly up with $500 million of the taxpayers money. Why does First Solar need to borrow money from the taxpayers when between Walton, Bezos and Zukerberg they could privately finance the $500 million. At least with Solyndra the manufacturing was in the U.S. but the First Solar guys are opening a plant in India, few if any American jobs. The Treasury with our tax dollars is NOT a pool of venture capital for the very wealthy to invest without risk. The American taxpayer is the loser either way. If it works out we get the privilege of paying full price for their products, if not only the taxpayers lose our much needed tax dollars while their risk is minimal or non-existent. That money would be far better spent on fixing our crumbling infrastructure.

Please read the whole article, it will make you nauseous.

And before you start screaming "whatboutism" and "this is about clean energy subsidies" please note that this thread is supposedly about SUBSIDIES TO THE ENERGY INDUSTRY, Okay?

Trump whataboutism. And does it matter which party gives out improper loans. In either case it should be of concern.

Government loads to big political donors are the very essence of corruption.

More than pardons for campaigns staff who didn’t cooperate with the fbi? That seems more corrupt to me…

I don't know that anyone is required by our legal system to "cooperate" or even talk to the FBI, but the word is a rather broad term. Pardons given to friends, family members, and political contributors are certainly corruption. In some case not giving a pardon, although not corruption per se, is also disturbing.

Okay after the usual peanut cavalry rushed in to try to deflect the thread topic do you guys have anything to say on the actual topic?

You know doesn't this reek of improperness?

Am I supposed to be up in arms because the Republicans are investigating something? I much prefer it to the whining they do. Let us know when something substantial has been uncovered.

What do you think a judge would say to that. I'd say 99% of people caught stealing say it was a "misunderstanding".

Sure, just prove a quid pro quo. Did Biden say he’ll do this but he needs them to do something for him? Ring a bell?

Then there should be a bipartisan probe so EVERYONE is treated equally. Illegality is illegality no matter who is doing it or what their political affiliations are

The prime example of that is where Michael Cohen went to jail for a crime commuted by “Individual One” who has never even been slapped over the wrist
