I surely hope not as many innocent lives will be lost.

Granted, this administration will probably do exactly what they did when Russia took Crimea.

I have to say, your position is an admirable and gutsy one, given that you would have 'incentive' as a native Ukrainian for said American forces to intervene. But you see yourself as a US Citizen before your native Ukrainian ties. Props to that, as I know this situation for you must be incredibly difficult.

Perhaps you could add to it, but from what I studied/picked up, Ukraine used to be a client state of the former USSR before the Soviet breakup and the fall of the wall by Reagan/Gorbachev enabled independence. As I understand it, depending on what region of Ukraine you live in some are in preference to maintaining a union with the Russians, while the others the European Union.

This feels eerily similar to how Austro-Hungary got into world war I. The two superpowers(EU/Russia) are fighting over Ukraine as its client state(let's be brutally honest, the Ukrainians would be a client state either way.) I think the war would be resolved if the Ukrainians themselves picked a side wholeheartedly. This is a civil war, with world war potential outbreaks due to the West's need of Ukraine as a client state.

If I were a Ukrainian? The devil you know, is better than the one that you don't. An alliance with the EU almost guarantees an invasion from Russia. Whereas a merger with the Russians, might provoke the West but more probably not(especially with the coronavirus and flaggering support for such a war. Also, the EU is weakened structurally and lacks some national European conquest of 'freedom')

I'd be a client state of Russia once more, if Ukrainian independence from a territorial and military standpoint is next to impossible.

Staraya pesnya. We got this same crap during the Obama years and it reached a fever pitch in the 2015-16 election season when it was meant to boost Trump and harm Clinton.

No, I am not missing it. They are not sent there to fight Russia in behalf of Ukraine.

Except this heated talk is now coming from politico. The right-wing, believe it or not doesn't necessarily 'wish' for this weakness. It just sees the weakness, and the Russians/Chinese see the same weakness for themselves.

You should literally read your own post.... Then read all the rhetoric from the left about unvaccinated.... Or even better, the rhetoric you all gobbled up the Russian collusion. Granted, there was Russian collusion, however the Democrats were the sole perpetrators of the collusion.

I could(especially) say the same about "1/6"(not to derail the thread, so please don't derail it. Just acknowledge that that's what you want to see.)

And yet, you are. Even John Kirby in his press briefing (about 20 minutes ago) said we have several advisors and trainers in Ukraine RIGHT now, in behalf of Ukraine.

Least not forget the gulf of Tonkin.

When you vote for Democrats the world's villains are emboldened and the likelihood of escalation of violence is increased.

Troops on alert for deployment. This is no joke. We are truly on the precipice of a WW.

Well, there's no question what side Comrade Tucker wants his fans to take... the anti-Democracy side...

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/democrat-says-tucker-carlson-viewers-200517709.html

Also, I'm not sure there was a more obviously BS line from any politician over the past month than this one from Putin

    SNIP
What the U.S. is doing in Ukraine is at our doorstep... And they should understand that we have nowhere further to retreat to.
    ENDSNIP

If they retreat any further, they'll be in Bucharest....

Taken hook, line and sinker! You'd be an absolute fool to think any conservative would side with Russia. But go ahead.. Continue believing those Russian bots!

You'll never see a statue of Lenin in a conservative city... but surely will in a communist one like Seattle ↓

Which is why PF.com stalwarts no longer use the term "conservative" in relation to what the GOP has mostly turned into...

True conservatives are against Russia.... T****ists (like Tuckums) are fully in the bag because the big guy says so...

Correct. Pseudo-conservative is closer to the truth, and they spared no argument to support Trump's pro-Russia comments.

No understanding how this relates to anything that I posted. When people I know say there is something to be nervous about, it is time to believe this is real.

Troops on full alert to be deployed to the region. That is fact. NATO taking action to prepare for the worst situation. Whether you or anyone likes it or not, we are truly on the doorstep of a war which can easily become a WW. That isn't a political opinion.

What Biden promised vs what we got (because of Democrat voters).

Yes, it’s no fun. But I chose the United States for a reason.

Ukraine was as much of a client state of the USSR as Texas is a client state of the USA. In terms of economic and industrial contribution it was one on the top, like California or Texas.

Most pro-Russian regions already broke away. Every election since 2014 a pro-Russian candidate was running for presidency. I think the fact that those candidates received marginal support speaks volumes about Ukrainian attitudes toward going back to Russia.

I do not see that relationship as being a client state. I think Ukraine can take a niche of a country like Finland. Not UK or China, but respectable.

You are lucky you speak of ignorance. Very few countries that actually border Russia have good attitudes towards them.
Just to give you an impression of how I feel about your suggestion for Ukraine to get back to Russia - I’d prefer to live through the Civil War 2 in the US over living in expanded Russia on a Ukrainian territory during the time of peace.
You have no idea and you are lucky for that!

I know one thing. Populist conservative will criticize Biden if he does nothing and they will criticize him if he does something (anything).
