Taken while being arrested this time. You seem to be saying they took a picture of him when he was booked, then they are supposed to hold up that same picture along side of him to compare? That makes no sense.

Ok, so would you feel better if they arrested him for driving without carrying a license?

Was he a licensed driver in Nevada?
Was he a licensed driver in another state? Suspended or revoked maybe?

All cops in Las Vegas wear body cam, I can't wait to see that video. If I'm wrong I'll apologize on this thread. Likewise the OP should do the same if he is.

That isn’t why they arrested him and you don’t spend that long in jail for no license. He’s been charged with nothing.

He still needed to be positively ID'd. Maybe he had a lost, stolen, faked or duplicate SSN with that name on it. I reserve judgment till more facts are known.

Cops and court obviously don’t agree with your fantasy scenarios, he was released with no charges.

You do if they can't positively identify you. DMV's don't appear to connect all 50 states, and a lot of people hide from the law in Vegas. If they had to send to another state for his information in these Covid times low staffing for DMV's is rampant. So yes, it could very well take that long to get the DMV info from another state. In the Republic of Kalifornia the licensing renewals for Guards and Armored Truck messengers was taking 180 days and that was pre-Covid days. I have a novel idea......when in a state that cites drivers for not carrying their valid license with them, it's probably a good idea to just make sure to carry a license with you.

Ever since I started driving, my wallet and car keys are stored together. I used to have business in Maricopa County AZ and drove there once or twice a month for many years. As you already know I am dark complexion of Portuguese heritage. I am frequently mistaken for being Latino or Middle Eastern. Every time I got stopped (which was a lot) I was asked if I was a citizen. I was born in Connecticut, one of the original 13 states. But, I never took offense to it because they were catching illegals that way. I did something wrong each time I was stopped. I was nice, polite and had my license, registration and proof of insurance with me and up to date. They never gave me a ticket. I'm sure if I was rude and made their life miserable about my ID, they would have lowered the boom on me. This guy figuratively stuck his head in the alligator's mouth and now wonders why it bit down on him.

This is what happens when you get pulled over by the cops and you forgot your license id at home. The name is the only source of id.

This is way messed up, but the cops probably didn't want to do the paperwork.

Sad the lengths youll go to defend false imprisonment. He was charged with NOTHING! Yet you’re still here contemplating some other justification to hold him for a week! Even the cops couldn’t find any lol

Read the post above yours, Shane Lee Brown was arrested for driving with a suspended license and for failing to pay a warrant issued by Henderson Municipal Court. Sorry Matt, just admit you were wrong and race baiting. :dohtwo:

Do you realize they are saying this guy was arrested for different charges while the other one was wanted for something else entirely? As in they are saying no, the young one was arrested for these two things. The old one was wanted for things unrelated to the two charges the young one was arrested for.

Eventually, it will all come out in this suit. Saying it was one way or another at this point is pure speculation based on bias.

Brown is a common name, probably data entry error in NCIC. It happens. So the guy was driving without a license?

Depends on how cooperative the person is and what he gives them to go on.

"You have the arresting warrant that's claiming that this felony warrant applies to Shane Lee Brown, when in fact that's not accurate. So that's the first failing," Peterson said.
Then, Peterson said, Lee Brown went to booking at Henderson Detention Center.

"You have a records department at every facility that's double-checking and making sure the records line up," He said. "Those people would have potentially had access to paperwork to determine whether this the right guy."
While at Henderson, "anytime he would have said something, anyone, his officers, could have thrown a flag up and said, 'Hey, we have the wrong person,'" Peterson said.

Then there were the transporting officers who took Lee Brown to the Clark County Detention Center. "Presumably, they would have had some paperwork that would have told them whether or not they had the right guy for the warrant, to make sure they bring the right person over."
Once at Clark County, Lee Brown was booked again, and again the mistaken identity was not flagged. "Then you have the officers there supervising over the Clark County Detention Center," Peterson said, and those officers also did not check to see whether Lee Brown's claims of mistaken identity were true.

Then, come the day of the hearing, Lee Brown isn't brought to court. "That that is a clear red flag. There's a problem when your description is so far off, you can't figure out who to bring to the courtroom. That's a serious issue. And yet somehow it's on the public defender to talk to the judge and say, Judge, they have the wrong person. It should never have gotten to that point."

I'd be so embarrassed to be the chief of that department. That's why a lot of times they have nothing to say. Good grief, what can you say?

    Utter shizzle, with respect.

Police use profiling. Whichever demographic does the most crime in a given location, will receive the most police attention. Where I live it's white males doing most of the crime, so they're targetted. Non-whites (other than those of a 'middle eastern appearance') are left laregely left alone .. because they're not doing most of the crime. It's very very basic pragmatics, and has nothing at all to do with race/racism. The troublemakers will be different in different locations.

The fact that police employ those pragmatics is an indicator they're doing their job properly, and not succumbing to personal preferences or 'emotions'.
