is it fair for the jan 6 committee to subpoena a senior advisor to the president?

Because they try to stay out of conflicts between the Executive and the Legislative over such matters and the issue that was just before them was not this issue.

Now care to comment on the court rulings I have cited?

    Citation?

The plan "wasn't used" because people resisted Trump's pressure.

Read the above, and the Eastman memo.

Impeachment doesn't overturn elections. The other winner of the election becomes president, not the loser. Trump wanted to ACTUALLY overturn the election and install the loser (himself) in office instead of the winner. That isn't a small difference to anyone with two braincells to rub together.

Then why did no one put that issue before them?

You've clearly admitted you don't care about court rulings, otherwise you would care about the most recent one that actually involves this case.

What is "their work" exactly? What requires public hearings? What is it you think they are going to find we don't already know? And how many times have you claimed of these partisan Dems that "NOW we got him, this is it, you just wait a few more weeks/months/years and we got him, we aren't kidding this time"?

Citation for what, yes more on the team discounted the legal advice including Pence. I've read the legal brief of a possible legal angle written by Eastman, it went no where. No overturning and election is voiding it, I can't help it if it is such a burr under your saddle but I have cited the term being used by two other sources, a Senator now President, and the not right wing newspaper.

Slow down please and actually respond to what I posted. The court case I cited has nothing to do with the ruling of SCOTUS on the release of the documents Trump want EP which the law is being interpreted that a sitting President can release to whomever he chooses. Two different issues. There are other cases pending.

Now can your refute that case with another court ruling that Congress CAN engage in criminal investigations and have citizens turn over their personal documents merely for the sake of exposure?

In some instances that's actually true. Based on past history during which conflicts between the executive and legislative branches have been resolved through compromise. Of course, that was pre-Trump. He has chosen to break with tradition, protocol, accepted norms, and chart his own path of maximum obstruction with any form of compromise viewed as showing weakness.

Yes. If you read the committee’s request letter they’re essentially offering her an out: giving a glimpse of what they know.

Where do you think the committee is getting it’s information? Given the letters requesting testimony it’s not hard to figure out. It’s coming from inside the Trump administration and WH.

While these actors may be hyper partisan they’ve drawn the line at a coup attempt which is a bridge too far for many if not most.

From what is public the contingency plan to bypass the election began prior to late September 2021. “Election Fraud” was nothing more than a blizzard of BS pretext for their actions. The most brazen action in our history: electors to VP to turn up the heat 1/6.

I have some empathy for the unwitting but I hope the witting burn though am completely aware that our past is prologue when it comes to elites. IMO that history is part of our current problem.

Sooner or later the Republican Party has got to take longer term point of view though I doubt as it’s currently constituted it’s capable.

These committee findings will change minds, how many? That remains to be seen. I suppose I understand Trump supporters paranoia—delusions of persecution—but IMO this isn’t the ship worth going down on.

    Not just mine.

58 percent say Jan. 6 House committee is biased: poll

    https://thehill.com/homenews/house/565981-58-percent-say-jan-6-commission-is-biased-poll

This is if you take biased as to mean partisan or perhaps even a pre-determined result. Admittedly, 42% think the committee is fair, problay mostly Democrats.

They didn't beat him at the polls; they beat him in the counting rooms.

Let's see the Dems want to get rid of the filibuster, the Dems want to become a criminal investigation body, the Dems to stack the Supreme Court, the Dems want to federalize elections and you complain Trump broke with tradition and norms and protocols???? Now THAT'S rich.

Is there any circumstance of an investigation into Trump where you would not call it partisan?

do you understand why there are no more than two republicans on the 1/6 committee?

Of course, you do not, so I will answer it for you.

Because the persons selected by McCarthy have been on committees before, and they had a history
of politicising the committee's purpose, and turning it in to a circus for right wing ad sound bites, etc.

Every attempt to make it non partisan was done.

Additionally, fact finding for the purpose of legislation has nothing to do with popularity contests.

Because it's being abused. I would prefer stopping the abuse by restoring the talking filibuster.
    Evidence, please
repubs have already stacked it 6/3
No, the Constitution grants congress the right to create legislation to prevent states from enacting laws that affect outcomes.
We have broke no norms, we are trying to restore them.

Someone who has absolutely no chance of winning should not be allowed to request a recount. If Hillary wanted a recount then Hillary should have requested the recount. But, she didn't want to do that because she was already on record as saying that she wouldn't question the election results, so she had someone else do it for her so it didn't look like she was questioning the election results. And then her team started the whole Russian collusion thing by lying to federal courts in an attempt to overturn a legitimate election.

Funny how the party who accuses the other party of wanting to get rid of democracy is trying to take out an opponent so that voters won't be able to vote for the person they want.

So? What does that have to do with anything? She had absolutely no chance of winning a recount so it should not have been done. You're naive if you think Democrats and the Clinton campaign weren't behind her request for a recount. By the way, thanks for taking a vote away from Hillary, allowing Trump to win.

That is what democrats want. They want to suppress the votes of anyone who would want to vote for Trump. If that's not vote suppression then I don't know what is.

Question: Don Jr, will he have to take the fall in her place? We simply can't have the "Botox Princess" spend any time in the Big House and we know Jarred won't be able to handle it like his Dad did. :D

Putting aside your smokescreen Trump in fact made it a habit of refusing to negotiate with Congress over document production and testimony requested of himself and members of his admin. Something that fundamentally harms the democratic principle of shared power among the executive and legislative branches of government. Whereas ending the filibuster bolsters democracy by preventing the minority to routinely blocking the will of the majority.
