Florida wants to criminalize talking about Gays

You claim that teaching LQBT is contrary to religious freedom, prove it.

That's the wrong question- to the wrong people.
In a world where aspects of our society demand we call people whatever sex they choose to say they are... I think we have too many people thinking they are sex educators. Kids are in school to learn practical skill, not be tutored on sexuality and various perversions of it. WHY should it be necessary to pass a law to keep teachers from adding new sex education every time the wind changes- and allow that to diminish their basic purpose, which needs improvement everywhere.

 

I feel like I'm experiencing deja vu. This sounds exactly like when I was in school in the 70s and the issue was whether schools should teach contraception or sex education, except this is worse. A lot of posters on here seemed to gloss over the second half of the article. This "law" would also affect students who want to talk to a teacher or counselor about issues they are having with their developing sexuality. What pisses parents is the very idea that a kid would seek out someone other than them to discuss this. It's because your kid doesn't feel safe or trust you to have this discussion, period!

It is not something which can be proved. Even if it was in the bible, it would not prove it. It is a conclusion derived by logic. You are free dispute my logic. So far you have failed miserably.

 

So now just acknowledging gay people exist is against “religious freedom”. If your religion is against people existing then maybe your religion doesn’t belong in modern society.

I was once apathetic towards religious belief but now I cheer it’s demise.

First of all. I am not religious. I believe in the Constitution and I believe parents should have the last say over their own children.

It interferes with the teaching of religion by the parents because the teaching will be giving tacit approval to LGBT. It would be done at an age at which children are most vulnerable and would be in conflict with the teaching by the parents. There is no urgency in children learning about LGBT. It can wait.

 

So why spread this misinformation about both the law and the intent of the law? Are you afraid that "gay" won't have enough power? Is that it?

Why do you suppose that it's appropriate for democrats to lead, or groom folks at such a young age?

 

Sometimes parents can be the problem.

The Trevor Project, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing suicide among LGBTQ youth, said in a report published in August that schools can play a significant role in supporting LGBT youth. Students who learned about LGBTQ issues or people in the classroom had "23% lower odds" of reporting a suicide attempt in the last year, according to the report.

 

No one here said you could. And no one is suggesting in FL that folks can't also be gay, or are intending to criminalize it, are they. not a question. You dodged the important question though. Why do you suppose democrats are so eager to try to lead or groom children? Do you actually believe that you can "train" or "indoctrinate" children so they "turn out" gay? It's just as laughable as your youtube video....

 

Is that supposed to be a good thing or bad thing? Failure to report an attempted suicide would be bad.

Freedom of speech means nothing for conservative Christians.
They would be tossing gay people of buildings if they get their way, just like the Taliban.

I thought it was rather wel known that according to the bible, homosexuality is a practice of people who deserve to die. (If you're keen to look it up: Romans 26 to 32). The Jews and Muslims got similar things written down. Abrahamic religions are really closely related. The hate of these religions should be told in schools, warning children not to follow it or else they will end up in jail with a sentence that could span their entire life.

And with that, they should explain what homosexuality is of course.

 

You do realize that leading or grooming don't make folks gay, right? Why do democrats insist on their ability to sexualize and abuse kids?

I honestly don't understand this. Nobody in the history of the world has ever been harmed by too much knowledge.

This is one of my trigger topics. Dr. Elders was FIRED for recommending that we teach kids to use condoms. The Fundies went ballistic. No sane person would think teens can choose abstinence. On what planet?

I was reading a study years back about test screenings for movies. Basically, it said that American test audiences are vehemently opposed to anything that doesn't have a happy ending. I was a bit surprised by that because...I don't know....we're ADULTS. Life isn't always pretty and the frog doesn't always turn into a Prince.

I am reminded of that when these topics come up because, you are RIGHT. Pretending that kids won't do X is just wishful thinking. My ex's sister lost a niece-in-law (her husband's niece) when she was 19. She was texting while driving and wrapped her car around a tree. Thankfully the impact was bad enough that she didn't suffer in pain too long. One of the things her parents kept saying is "We should have told her not to text and drive."

Why can't people just mind their own business? This is beyond ridiculous.

 

Imagine that. Giving tact approval to people that exist and have been deeply harmed by religious dogma.

If it conflicts with the teachings of the parents, good
