I say nah. will a $35 fine still be sufficient punishment for an endless stream of protesters that try to unlawfully disrupt the confirmation process with vocal demonstration inside the process chambers?

 

I know government moves slow, but not quite that slow. Good break for the Democratic party nothing brings a caucus together like a Supreme Court nominee. Wouldn't say it's going to save them, but it might focus them a little more.

Liberal judge is retiring.

Biden has nearly three years to replace him with another liberal judge.

The big question is there any possible way that Biden could screw it up?

The answer is a resounding "Yes". He is fully capable of screwing it up.

It will probably be Brown-Jackson and they voted for her Fed nomination along with a few Republicans (if I remember correctly Murkowski, Collins, plus…ah, well..I don’t remember correctly).

You only need a simple majority in the Senate to appoint a Justice. This is a layup even for Biden. Get ready for a black women Justice , whether or not she is the best available candidate. Affirmative action at its highest or more accurately lowest point.

Biden already pledged to nominate an African American woman judge for the position. He’s got a quota to fill and a race card to play.

 

Of course he could screw it up, it's by no means a given that he'll get 50 Senate votes for whatever nominee he chooses.

That said, given this doesn't really matter and won't change the composition if the court, the GOP could take the high ground on this pretty easily.
